  1. I thought it was 59 in a row going into tonights game
  2. I couldn't agree with you more Bates. What Chris has done is incredible to say the least. Having a team right now that how no starters from last year and is 16-1. Now for Wilson Central... RETURNING their 3 headed monster of Hassle, Jenkins, and Williams and the "odds on favorite" to repeat as State Champs and currently 15-3 ... Oh!!! I'm sorry 15-2 since they are NOT recognizing their "loss" to Riverdale in the Hall of Fame game... Wouldn't it be great if we could all decide not to recognize a loss in a classic game. Does this mean Mt. Juliet can decide to NOT recognize their loss to Lexington Catholic? Ha Ha Ha It is RATHER obvious to me WC is a Underachieving team. I mean with all the talent they have plus 2 transfers they should be undefeated but instead they have 3 losses, I'm sorry 2 losses, and a couple other close calls that could have gone the other way. And it is ALSO Obvious that Chris gets the most out of his players, more than any other coach... Case in point MJ defeated Smyrna by 22 points and Smyrna beat Wilson Central by 6 points. How can this be????? Could it be the coaching, the players, or CHEMISTRY ? Has to be something... How do you explain this?
  3. I was told at the gate when entering the gym Tuesday nite that the gym would open at 5 pm Friday nite for the Wilson Central game and Mailman to respond to you statement the Lady Wildkittens have found their "chemistry" GIVE ME A BREAK..... All due respect if you can't beat Gallatin on your "own" floor by convinceable margin you have some real issues to deal with. ALSO, only 1 of the 2 players you are referring to helped the Lady Bears last year. Granted the other one would have played a role this year but that didn't happen and life goes on. As I said in a earlier post WC strength is their post play and MJ strength is in their guard play and their speed and quickness and full court press. One other strength I neglected to mention is coaching. As I've heard on some of your posts in the past WC has a legend on thier bench and that being Campbell Brandon and yes I will agree he is a legend but for my money I'll take Chris Fryer over both the legend and the legend's son...... Go Lady Bears ................ Nobody and I mean NOBODY comes into our house and pushes us around !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  4. This is THE BEST RIVALRY in Girls Basketball in the State of Tennessee Mt. Juliet vs. Wilson Central ---- says it all Two great teams within a few miles of each other. I hope MJ and Beyond is right but this will be a tough game for the Lady Bears under the basket. If WC cominates the boards it will a tough time. And on the defensive boards in piticular. Second and Third shots under the basket from Hassle, Jenkins, and Williams could be death. Lady Bears need to keep the pressure on and get turnovers and don't give WC alot of cheap baskets in the paint. Sure the guard play for MJ is their strength and the post play for WC is their strength. I think it will be very difficult for the Lady Bears to get anything inside and Van Atta will have to have a outstanding game to get the victory. Coach Fryer will have a plan. I just hope the plan is effective. Good Luck Lady Bears. My only suggestion is if you wanna seat at the gym I suggest you get there 2 hours before the game starts.
  5. Lady Bears were awesome last nite. The first half was about as close to PERFECTION as you can get. Becca Shape was worth the price of admission alone. Her ball handling and assists were of NBA calibear. Game was over at the half. I mean MJ was ahead 45-12 and Beech managed 44 for the entire game. Chris is doing a great job coaching. In my opinion HE is coach of the year. I was always told there is more than one way to skin a cat (kitty) and it appears you can run some kittys to dead up and down the court. And they will be to exhausted to to shot those layouts inside the paint. Congraulations to Smyrna on their win. Its a tough place to win at. Believe me I know that. Wasn't totally surprised they won as some might be. MJ and Beyond I agree with your comment on WC should take Chemistry course. Team togetherness can take you a long ways. TIME MINUS 6 days 6 days and 8 hours and 5 minutes till the tip off of Mt. Juliet vs. Wilson Central at the CAVE. Keep up the GREAT WORK Lady Bears .....
  6. If Wilson Central has 3 of the best post players in the state HOW could they lose to Riverdale, a team that depends on its guard play. And squeeze past Memphis Central a team with not that much size, lose to Knox Webb and Div 2 team, and trail Briarcrest by double digits and barely survive to win by 3 points. Granted I agree with you that WC does have a height advantage in any game they play.... HOWEVER you are fooling yourself if you do not believe WC does not have a weakness in their guard play. Losing Calhoun was a big loss. Mt Juliet on the other hand does not have alot of size. They play up tempo and a pressing game and their guard play is their strong point Should be a great game between two teams with totally different strengths and weaknesss. Its MT. JULIET and WILSON CENTRAL No Question this is the BIGGIEST Girls Basketball Rivalry in the State and they are only a few miles apart. Amazing these two teams are among the Best in the ENTIRE STATE in Class AAA Go Lady Bears ! ! ! ! ! !
  7. Beating the same team THREE TIMES is tough to do I don't care who you're playing and McGavock ain't a bad team. Granted Nashville teams aren't that strong but it seems like there's been some good D-1A players comming out of Nashville. Moody and Naudu. I think the Lady Bears have played some tough teams such as Lexington Catholic (ranked #3 in Nation at that time) Smyrna Oakland District 9-AAA is very strong this year Along with Mt Juliet, Wilson Central, and Smyrna. Beech and Gallatin are both very improved. Granted Hendersonville and LaVergne are struggling
  8. Lets just say this.... ALL GOOD TEAMS find a way to WIN Maybe they don't look pretty but they get the "W" and thats all that counts. I will agree with you about Tennessee Girls High School Basketball can compete with anyone. I believe Wilson Central will be playing Greeneville for 5th. Place tomorrow. Better check your Brackets btw Mt. Juliet hosts Wilson Central Friday Jan. 12. When do you think the gym will be full? I'd say about an hour before the game starts. This is the "BEST" rivalary in Girls Basketball in the STATE of TENNESSEE
  9. hmmmmmmm.. lets see Mt. Juliet goes to KY and plays Catholic on the road and loses just 79-71. what does this tell us? I think if Hall hadn't got hurt and out for the season Lady Bears would have been a force to be reckoned with. They will still make some noise but LOOK OUT next year.
  10. Way to go Ladies... I think they were just about gased. Playing 4 games in 4 days is tough on anybody. I think it was good for them to experience this. Next game Friday Jan. 5 @ Beech Next home game Tuesday Jan. 9 against Father Ryan Great going Lady Bears 15-1 ain't too bad
  11. Sounds like a great field in the tournament Great games on tap today Maryville vs. Briarcrest is a toss-up Wilson Central is too strong for Webb Greeneville vs. Catholic could go down to the wire. MJ gave Catholic all it wanted earlier this year Shelbyville will take care of Archbishop Good Luck to our neighbors from Wilson Central Lady Bears are doing good in Civitan Tourney @ McGavock
  12. First Round Games were played today CPA defeated East Literature Whites Creek defeated Pearl-Cohn Mt. Juliet defeated Manassas Cordova defeated Hillwood Nash Christian is playing Martin Luther King later tonite Wednesday's games Upper Bracket Hunters Lane vs. CPA Whites Creek vs. Mt. Juliet Lower Bracket Hillsboro vs. Cordova McGavock vs. (Winner of NCS vs. MLK) Semifinals Thursday night Finlas Friday nite
  13. thanks, thats all I needed to know. . .
  14. I've been thinking a lot about Taylor since she was injured. She is such a unselfish player and does whatever the TEAM needs to be successful. Taylor we are thinking about you and wish a succeessful surgery and a speedy recovering. Thank you for all the exciting moments you have given me watching you play basketball. It has been a total pleasure watching you play these past 3 years.
  15. Does anyone know the schedule for this tournament. I know it opens tomorrow and I have not seen anything in the Tennessean concerning it. I know McGavock and Mt. Juliet are in it. Who else? Anybody know?
  16. Mt. Juliet gave Lexington Catholic all it wanted the first of Decemeber. Game was played at Marshall County in KY. Catholic won 79-71 hitting FT's down the stetch to make the margin larger than the game really was. I see where Shelbyville is on the same side of the bracket with Catholic. Eaglettes are played great basketball right now. May be a case of the winner won't have much gas left in the tank for the finals and it appears Wilson Central win be waiting there to play the winner.
  17. Upperman makes a statement winning by double digits
  18. Mt. Juliet is one of the teams in the field along with McGavock. Thats all I know right now.
  19. Great call muffin. I said it would be close and it was just that. Great Game between TWO OUTSTANDING TEAMS This could be the first of 3 games between these two POWER HOUSES. They both are playing in the Greene County Bank Classic after Christmas along with Lexington Catholic a POWER in Kentucky. The way the brackets are Catholic could play Shelbyville in Semis with Wilson Central in opposite bracket. Should be a GREAT Tournament. Point blank Jenkins took over the game in the third quarter. She was on a mission and would not be denied. In the third quarter Shelbyville went cold from the field and their shots were just rimming out. ANOTHER OUTSTANDING GAME TONIGHT IN LEBANON Mt. Juliet plays Oakland at 4pm in the Blue Devil Classic The Lady Bears have really surprised me so far. They don't have the size inside but their guard play has been outstanding and they have got a big boost from the Miller girl inside along with Jordan Nixon. Van Atta has been their top scorer and she is always a threat from beyond the 3 pt arc. Taylor Hall is just a all round do what ever it takes player. Very unselfish player. The Lady Bears have won every game so far by double digits except for the lone loss to Nationally Ranked Lexington Catholic by a score of 79-71 in a game that was close to the very end till Catholic hit FT's down the stretch. Oakland will give the Lady Bears a test and we'll get a better read on their progress.

  21. After Mt. Juliet defeated Smyrna last Tuesday nite at the cave it was announced after the game that the Lady Bears had won 56 games in a row.
  22. Mt. Juliet plays Glencliff at 5pm on Wednesday
  23. If the game was an "exhibition" that would be one thing.... HOWEVER, both teams played the game TRYING TO WIN The lost could wake some of the players of Central up and realize its not going to be a picnic. Lets face it all the fans and classmates have assumed this team is invinceable since they won the championship last year and had most of the team back this year. Whether or not if Central decides to offically count the game on their record. ONE THING ABOUT IT ....... Those girls that played that game know who won and who lost.... nough said there.
  24. Well, well, well. Its that time again. BASKEBALL SEASON. After reading some of the posts for teams to win the gold ball this comming season it appears for the most part Wilson Central is the OVERWHELMING favorite. I for one well on record saying they'd go undefeated and repeat. Just look what they have returning... A trio of post players inside with Hassle, Jenkins, and Williams. What a powerful trio they are. With the two transfers from MJ it appeared that was icing on the cake. After watching Riverdale defeat Wilson Central last night in Gladeville it appears there is some problems facing WC. Ofcourse they have the trio inside. But they have lost their point guard from last year's team. Calhoun moved and that seems to be the weakness. Coach Brandon mentioned in the Lebanon Democrat that they were going to have to settle on who their point guard is and find out who are their wings. Last nite against Wilson Central outrebounded Riverdale 47-27. You know if you outrebound anybody by that margin you are a shoe in for a victory or you have to find alot of other ways to lose the game and WC did just that. Poor foul shooting, turnovers, and poor shot selection. Thats a perfect recipe to get beat and that they did. In my opinion if they'd use Jenkins like they did last year it would help on the turnovers. Last year she would bring the ball down court against the press and after getting over the midcourt line turn the ball over to the point guard and set up your offense. It was rather obvious WC point guard was having trouble bringing the ball down against a press. NOT TO TAKE anything away from Riverdale. They played a smart game and made the shots down the stretch to win the game. Lanning was nothing short of outstanding. Insell has a jewell comming to MTSU next year. AND speaking of MTSU what a SUPER GAME they played against Maryland last week. Had the Terps on the ropes and it took a super effect to by them to pull out the victory. I think Insell is going to do some GREAT things with the MTSU woman's basketball program. Not to say the problems with Central can't be corrected and a run at the State Championship again but lets not give them the Gold Ball just yet. They have the talent. They just need chemisty and working together as a team.
