  1. I just think it's said that a REGION tournament has to be moved around like this in order to comply with the demands of a the schools basketball teams, o wait a second so is the STATE tournament as well. Mr. Fiscus you work really hard to promote wrestling in middle tennessee, thanks for all that you do.
  2. He had a stomach virus on monday and tuesday so he didnt wrestle.
  3. thanks for the heads up, looking forward to meeting you on the 9th
  4. even if he was I would have to say that there are a few teams in region 7 that could beat the lower end of region 6, hillwood and hillsboro have a very weak roster this year and are barely feeling the lineups if that, i can think of at least 4 teams that would kill them in a dual, but still region 7 is definitely weaker by far if not one of the weakest in the state, they only brought back 1 medal at state last year, region 6 tied with the most
  5. are you serious? Franklin? independence? overton? Ravenwood? all of them are great wrestling programs, Brentwood is another one but usually isnt the strongest team wise than the other four.....region 7 was a joke last year they have improved since last year but region 6 is still a way stronger region
  6. I was pretty impressed with the level of competition at the tornado duals, just a few things i'd like to mention, the Woodland coaching staff was very good and very supportive of their wrestlers, i knew nothing about their program before last saturday but it definitely caught my eye, baylor has improved from early on in the season when they took 3rd at the cleveland duals and Lake Forest and McCallie finished ahead of them, Lake forest had some fun wrestlers to watch their light weight is a great young wrestler i think his name is dakota? anyways I look forward to seeing how he turns out in years to come, anyone know what grade he is in? Congradulations to Baylor they stuck enough kids in the the finals to come out with the win. I didnt get a chance to watch Dalton, or Maryville at all but both teams looked good from a distance.
  7. congradulations to Justin Scott from Hillwood for placing 1st at 152!!!!!!!!
  8. Vanderloop either didnt play football this season or didn't finish the football season, i cant remember which was it was, but he's been going 160 he placed 2nd at mcgavock and dickson at 160.
  9. would love to meet you, however I will be out of town, i might be back in during regions, we'll talk then, and no i am not a parent or a coach just a hillwood alumni and a ref. i agree with you that staying on behind the hips is stalling howerver when you are out to the side running the spiral ride in order to break the man down and then tring to work a half in order for a fall is not stalling. Maybe i'll see you in Feburary, i wish your son luck in the regions and if i dont see you there I will definetly be at the state tournament.
  10. running a spiral ride and looking for a half is not stalling, quit making excuses for your son. My point is simply this, the system is in place, at this time it's all we got and double elimnation will never be approved due to the amount of matches it would require not to mention the time it would take. That's how the tssaa sees it. So dont get on here and say that there isn't an even playing field. The rules are in place and everyone has to follow them. that's what makes the playing field even.
  11. I believe you son was seeded 3rd had a chance to get 3rd and lost, there wasn't any dobt that he lost, he didnt lose over a bad call or anything like that. The kid that beat your son lost in the 1st round to someone he wasn't supposed to lose to, then came back and won 4 straight to qualify for state. He had to beat both the 4th seeded wrestler and your son as well. Qualifying 3 wrestlers for each weight class is not unfair it's reality. Overton's heavyweight lost his 1st round match because that kid that beat him had an answer to Brandon's usual stalling tactics that allows him to capitolize on other peoples mistakes. That kid built a lead on Brandon and Brandon is not the aggressive type wrestler who could score on someone easily when he was evenly matched. The main point that I am trying to say is wreslting is about who wants it the most. Double elimnation or carry bracket it doesnt matter, the cream rises to the top, and the thing i live about wrestling is when you get beat you only have yourself to blame. don't blame tssaa, or the carry bracket system. Get on the mat and work harder than before.
  12. He went off to Friendship Christian for a year and then ended up at hillwood, I dont really know what the reason was but coach Moore who coached at hillwood previously is now at Hillsboro. it's weird to say the least.
  13. Coach henderson is in charge of the wrestling program now, I heard the hillwood invite will be a dual tournament this year, not sure but that's just what i heard, anyone know for sure?
  14. Vanderloop from HB is @ 160, was at the Mcgavock and again at the Dickson tournament last week.
  15. 152 morgan A -Forrest 1st Rossview 2nd 160 BA 1st Vanderloop hb 2nd 189 Clarksville nw 1st clarksville 2nd cant remember too many other placers BA heavyweight 2nd
  16. Justin Scott is a very good wrestler, just wish he had someone over at hillwood that could give him some competition during practice, he will have the chance to prove himself as the year goes on, he could definitely shock some people and medal at state.
  17. yes i know that coaches and refs often decide but there is still an edge in some tournaments that are conducted in the mid-state that give OW to their own wrestlers.
  18. BST dont take this too personal i just said that the Forrest guy probably didnt deserve it because he was actually loosing late in the 3rd period in his semi final match and then won his finals match off of a minor decision, also made a generalized statement that hosting teams often give the OW to one of their wrestlers. I'm sure the McGavock guy deserved it. I will say the 152 b@@@@et was pretty tough, not sure about the 215 one.
  19. congrads to Taylor Fortune on his upset win over brandon Vanderloop to win the McGavock tourney. Vanderloop is an incredible wrestler and any win over him is an accomplishment
  20. it looked like Abrigo had all he could handle in the semi's, not sure about the Yahya kid, but anytime a school can give their wrestler the ow award they tend to do so.
  21. no sir, wont be up in nashville for another week, I wish i was it would be a great tourney to call.
  22. he's at 152 and might cut to 45 by the end of the season, but I found out hillwood will not be at Friendship this year, they'l be at McGavock instead.
  23. Good luck to Hillwood hopefully they will be able to defend their tournament title, I know one person who will definitely be in the top three in his weight class, he won the tournament last year, Justin Scott.
  24. Look for Hillwood to surprise people at certain weights, Justin Scott will definitely be punishing opponents. Coach Henderson takes over after Komisar made dramatic improvements with the team in just one season.
