I would really enjoy clearing some things up here. The only reason I have ever gotten on this site is to see what people have to say about the game and try to find comments on my little brother, but as I was looking this afternoon I came accross some things of concern. My brother plays for Gordonsville. I played for Gordonsville. The only reason I go to the games is to back up my brother, otherwise I could care less who ever wins. But I really need to comment on you and your little posse claiming Gordonsville does not have class and always gives cheap shots. It goes both ways.
I graduated in 2003 from Gordonsville, and if you find out who I am from this comment I could care less - you all sicken me. I played nose guard and the last series of our game in 2002 you guys were on offense your center literally punched me as much and as hard as he could. As soon as he would snap the ball he would grab my jersey and tackle me, lay on top of me and just start punching. He also at one point grabbed me by my face mask and dragged me a few yards while tha play was going on 20 yards down the field. Yes, this player had on a FCS jersey. I didn't retaliate at all. And you know what? That happened for five or six plays. Not one flag. Your coaches came up to me after the game and apologized - a lot. They ran that kid's but off all week long and he wrote a letter of appology a couple of days later. Their coaches also called the next Monday and apologized to Coach Dillard for his actions and let him know even if the TSSAA didn't act, they were going to.
Look, I have no animosity towards that kid. He is actually a really good guy. At the time I went to church with people were his teachers and peers and they assured me it was just a low moment for him, that he had a good heart. I had friends who played babeball with him and said the same thing. I believe whole-heartedly he is, but that was still cheap what he did.
My point is, you can be a good kid, a good player, and still have low moments on the field. I was right there when that particular shot happened that you are all debating, and I didn't think it was cheap, but I may have just not caught it the right way. If it was a blatant, that's a terrible thing to have happened, and it never should have. But in saying so, it in no way defines Gordonsville as a team, or a town. It was just a low moment for a good kid.
It would be really great if EVERYONE would just drop the whole subject. It is really disgusting for grown men to get on a web site and claim their opposing team is cheap because of one act of one kid.
