  1. After seeing a slow, tired Soddy Daisy team go through the motions against Central and Red Bank, I have to ask: how in the heck did they ever beat Ooltewah? Twice!
  2. They were just getting Ooltewahs hopes up It must have worked, judging from the usual overconfidence that bites the Owls in the butt about this time every year. And yeah, the Lions had a couple of slow games this season. Kinda like last year, remember? When the Owls watched Cofer Fabry and Miller circle the bases over and over in the tournament? And your boy Loy aint bad. But he's no Beau Geren. Try running on that gun.
  3. I gotta go with Red Bank too. I know, Ive been saying that all season, but its basically the same team they had last year when they won district. Everybody is pretty much back and theyre just that much better. The pitching is way improved and I dont think Ooltewah and Soddy can keep Cofer Fabry and Miller off the bases. Once they get on, they usually steal 2nd and 3rd so watch out.
  4. I love it when the Soddy and Ooltewah fans go through their annual dance of superiority. That will make the laughs even louder when Red Bank upsets them both!
  5. I didn't see this game. But I have seen a lot of high school games where the real number of errors is seriously under-reported. Some mom-and-dad scorekeepers think the only errors are when a shortstop lets a ball go through his legs, or drops a pop up. They won't give an error when a batter hits a single to left field, and then fielders throw the ball all over the place, allowing the batter to get to 3rd base. Usually in the paper the next day, you'll see that batter was awarded a triple. It's just poor scorekeeping, kind of like when moms and dads give their kid a hit when its really a fielders choice. A lot of players have inflated batting averages because of this.
  6. Well, knoxsoddy, this person ought to know, since they were there and you were not. . Apparently it was all made up. Of course this thread is probably about to be closed anyway.
  7. I agree, it doesn't get my blood pressure up. Besides, at least he's got sense enough to put Red Bank ahead of Hixson, unlike the other expert By the way, it sure has gotten quiet over at Wildcat country lately. Anyway, y'all keep talking up Soddy vs. Ooltewah, so that Red Bank can sneak up on everybody again this year. Cofer, Fabry and Miller are ready to repeat that racetrack around the basepaths they started last May!
  8. Sorry, Ooltewah experts, I didn't realize you were at Red Bank for the game. In the game I saw, SD never led, never mounted a serious threat, rarely hit the ball hard, watched a lot of strikes go by, made some bad baserunning mistakes, and threw the ball all over the field. And sorry to disappoint you, but Cofer and Fabry led the way. There were other key hits, by Geren and Henry, but Cofer and Fabry got multiple hits, seemed to always be on base, started the rallies, stole bases, and did the other things that winning players do. Soddy won on their field on Monday night, but Cofer was still on the sidelines. If you saw a different game than I did, please share the details.
  9. Probably not until district tournament.
  10. Easy win for Red Bank. Not as close as the score indicates. Silts pitched for RB, and SD couldn't touch him. I think they got 3 hits. Fabry and Cofer as usual were the hitting stars.
  11. Anybody in Chattanooga rained out yet? Please post when you find out if you're playing or not.
  12. Congrats to the Owls. But like curtisj said, it's just regular season. This is a marathon, not a sprint. Ooltewah beat Red Bank bad twice last year too, but didn't show up in the post season. Good coaches like Reese, Garland, and Caldwell in Rhea County use the regular season to gear up for the tournament. Red Bank struggled against Ooltewah, but will build from it, and keep improving during the season. Nobody remembers the regular season games, its the tournament everybody remembers. And last year it was 11-3 Lions over the Owls. Basically the same players are back this year, so it might happen again. Two losses don't make a whole season. And way to go East Ridge Pioneers, for beating the number 1 team in town!
  13. Coty Green is not forgotten. He's the best in town, and has been since his days at Red Bank Middle.
  14. Did Ramsey get suspended again for Hixson?
  15. Id give Simpson the edge too. He's facing higher quality teams more often than Smalley. Of course Smalley will end this year with a good record and ERA, but most of his competition will be weak. Simpson is facing some of the best players money can buy, from throughout the state. If Smalley could put up some good games against elite teams like Ooltewah, Red Bank, Baylor and Walker Valley, that would mean something. He's good for Hixson, but he would be #2 pitcher at Ooltewah, Red Bank and Walker Valley, and maybe # 3 at Baylor.
  16. Congrats to Carson Courter, the Notre Dame sophomore who pitched a complete game three hitter against Hixson. Great job on his first varsity start! He is a promising young pitcher who shut down Hixson's veteran lineup on their home field. And to freshman Sam Eberle, who knocked in the go-ahead runs with a bases loaded double. Looks like Notre Dame is solid for this year, and the future. Final: Notre Dame 7, Hixson 3.
  17. Wow, what a night. Who did East Ridge play?
  18. As predicted, Red Bank is a machine. They dismantled previously unbeaten Ringgold 8-1, with Reese Cofer getting two doubles and a triple. Tyler Henry was unhittable. They are gearing up for an amazing season.
  19. Just curious. Why doesn't Baylor ever play Red Bank? Of course, after the Soddy fiasco, they may not want to deal with Red Bank.
  20. Nokona2, I'm not sure how it's spelled at Hixson, but everywhere else the correct spelling is "salutatorian."
  21. Thanks, ImaOWL. Brilliant comment. I really got told, huh? Ooltewah and Hixson...a pair of class acts.
  22. Whatever. We'll see what "happends" in May, right?
  23. He would rather play shortstop. But he will pitch if the team needs him. I'd say in case there's an unexpected injury or two, you could see Cofer on the hill in some situations. I wouldn't be surprised to see him save a championship game or two this year.
