  1. Trey will be a BIG improvement over the previous coach. He can take the Lions to the next level, and finally put some baseball trophies in the case. Congratulations Coach Hicks!
  2. Broadbat is right. The record speaks for itself. Bumper's Red Bank teams were usually short on seniors because many good players would quit baseball after their soph or jr year. Red Bank has great feeder programs, but little to show for it as far as baseball championships. Hopefully the next coach can fix the problems Bumper has created.
  3. When I go to a football game, high school, or college, I often take my video camera. I've never given it a moment's thought. I also tape my daughter's talent shows, colorful area events, etc. Now I read where some schools are going to "clamp down" on people who video games because of the NFL "sign stealing" scandal involving the Patriots. I could care less about coaches' signals. But is your schools going to give me a hard time, or try to confiscate my camera because I like to have a memento of the game?
  4. Unless the Walker Co. GA sheriff steps up and demands justice, this will quietly go away. I don't expect the Ooltewah High administration or the Hamilton Co. "cover-up" school system to do anything. And the Ridgeland principal is an old buddy of the Ooltewah principal, so deals are probably being made to limit the publicity and the damage. Meanwhile some innocent kids are pretty roughed up.
  5. The ONLY way justice will be done is if the Walker Co. GA sheriff has the guts to do it. Ooltewah and the Hamilton County School system have a long history of covering up, and sweeping under the rug. Any reliable info and any actual punishment will have to come from the GA sheriff. Just wait and see.
  6. You are SO right RR. The level of competition faced by ND and Meigs is way different. Meigs should be thankful they don't have to play ND's schedule. I predict a 6-1 Notre Dame win.
  7. It's true. ND's Sam Eberle did not hit any homers last night. It's hard to hit 'em out when you get nothing to hit. It's a common problem legends face. The same thing is happening to Barry Bonds. Although most of the locals have been pitching around Sam (not a bad strategy), that likely won't happen in the state tournament...when it matters. And there isn't a ballpark in the state that will hold him.
  8. My prediction: Eberle 8 CCS 2 You cannot stop the Legend. You can only hope to contain him.
  9. ER must not have pitched to him. If you put the ball where he can reach it...it's outta here. Watch out CCS! And back up while you're at it.
  10. Can't pick against Notre Dame. Sam Eberle will find a way to win! Are the game times in Sequatchie Co. eastern time or central time?
  11. Soddy is definitely a quality opponent. Who was pitching? If it was an ace, that's an achievement. If it was a 5th or 6th best pitcher, it's not that big a deal.
  12. I'm not terribly familiar with each division and region, especially in middle and west Tn., but here in southeastern part of the state, Red Bank, Notre Dame and Baylor appear to be the cream of the crop in their respective divisions. Red Bank just got its ace (Brandon Ward) back, and they're a different team now. Notre Dame has the a junior (Sam Eberle) who will probably be the top hitting prospect in the state next year. He has ALL the tools: power, speed, batting average, glove and throwing arm. He can play every position (he could start as catcher for anybody) , and other teams should be thankful he doesn't pitch any more. Baylor's Massey is an amazing pitcher, and Coach Gene Etter is the master.
  13. According to press reports, some of the Red Bank players were not being very gracious winners. I wasn't there, so I don't know first-hand. That's just paraphrasing what the newspaper said.
  14. "What is also very disturbing is how you just keep bringing it up. " Yeah, I guess some of you would rather sweep this stuff under the rug. Too bad.
  15. That was the post of the year, Stokomo. I'm glad you got it in before this thread was closed, which inevitably it will. Coach Baker told the news yesterday, "I went into the locker room after the game (losing to Red Bank 61-47) and was going to tell my kids I was proud of how hard they played and how I would rather coach them than Red Bank. I'm glad you played with class and not like n_____s." Just goes to show you can coach for 30-plus years, win more than 500 games and still not have good common sense. I admire Ooltewah principal Ed Foster for his quick, decisive, correct action in dismissing this guy. Hopefully the county superintendent will follow suit and remove him from his teaching job (PE) as well. We need more GOOD role models in our schools, not people like this.
