  1. What a bad game. Poorly officiated (refs dictated the pace of the game), poorly played, no energy, just four bad quarters of basketball. I admit that my prediction was pretty off and my owls let me down with their level of play, but I'm happy we got the win. I just hope that the team were too busy thinking about what they getting for Christmas to concentrate for this game, because there wasn't anything happening. I'll have to say McMinn surprised me with their ability, and I'm sure they'll be turning more heads later on.
  2. I think Big Curt proved last week that he could handle pressure as he was without Courtney for the first half. He was unfazed with the very large contingent of Soddy students at the Barn, in fact, it was the best game I've seen him play. I don't see McMinn bringing as many as Soddy did, and I don't figure McMinn to be any louder or spirited than them, but I suppose we'll see. I'm sure Ooltewah will have its fair share of students as well.
  3. Psh, Ooltewah shouldn't have too much trouble. Baker has finally shaped this squad into a formidable team with all its parts working smoothly. Add that to homecourt advantage, a big confidence booster after Soddy, and a thirst for revenge after the loss to McMinn, and I see a motivated Owls team cruising to a 10+ point victory.
  4. What was with airballed freethrows, though? I've never seen that before in my life, and I think there were four this game. Really ridiculous.
  5. We don't hate you, we just think you're incredibly annoying. Not only are you making a stupid argument (How is it that you can't rank teams? Is it not logical that any one team is either better or worse than another? And from there we can say that there is a natural rank according to the strength and ability of all the teams?), but as you try to claim that you're being repressed in some childish rant about your freedom of speech, you fail to realize that you were in the process of trying to silence others' opinions in the process. Idiot. Go away. And take your condescension with you.
  6. The officiating really wasn't that bad. The first half had its issues, but it wasn't in anyone's favor at all. I suppose its a given that when a team loses a big game like that the first thing mentioned by the losers is the poor officiating, but you don't really have a leg to stand on for this one.
  7. Ooltewah got everything they wanted the second half with Courtney in. During the first half, when Courtney was out and Ooltewah was shooting poorly, they still were still up most of the time. Soddy was tested, and failed. I was impressed with the size of Soddy's players, but they simply didn't have the skills to make it worthwhile. Early on, OHS was stifled trying to shoot over Soddy, but Curt soon realized that even he had better post moves than these guys. Brown, Murray, Curt, and Courtney all had great games. Overall, a great win for OHS, though there is still a lot of season left. I hope this energizes the OHS students (they did pretty well with a bunch of alumni leading the way) and leads into many move victories to come. *clap clap clapclapclap* O-VER-RAT-ED *clap clap clapclapclap* O-VER-RAT-ED *clap clap clapclapclap*
  8. I too was at the game as well, and was excited by what I saw. Ooltewah had some dumb mistakes, but were moving the ball around and playing with much more intensity in the paint and on the boards (along with quite a few missed layups and stupid fouls). However, they were good signs in light of the game against cleveland where they struggled in those areas. And CH did look pretty terrible, committing many, many bad turnovers, but it was fun to watch. And I better see some activity from the student section come Friday . . .
  9. Sherman Moton of Ooltewah was one of the most aggressive and smartest players I've seen around. He doesn't really have the physical stature to dominate the way some can, but he was always around the ball and just made the team a lot better.
  10. I never saw a school that could match the Old School Ballers' loudness or intensity. I'm sure we made quite a few enemies last year, and its a shame we were all seniors and there is noone to pick up the slack now, but I think we left quite an impression on every team we played, either home or away. Given, I haven't seen a lot of the schools on here, but I can say without fear of bias that Central and Soddy Daisy weren't too impressive.
  11. It was disappointing. Ooltewah never gave up, but shot poorly and didn't rebound aggressively enough. Perhaps I was most dismayed at the lack of showing by the Ooltewah "student section" that wouldn't even take the time to make noise during free throws. I'm sure C-Daddy will shape this team into a more effective squad as the season progresses, but I certainly do hope they work on rebounding and freeing up C-Dubb.
  12. I'll have to back up what 24 said, Ooltewah vs. Central has to be the pinnacle of my enjoyment of spectating sports. If I remember correctly, Central was up one with a few seconds left, and Centrals fans (who were there in force) were going crazy, but Ooltewah's fans didn't go home just yet. The inbounds went to Sherman Moton who took the ball past halfcourt and with three players draped on him threw up a desperation heave on the run that miraculously swished. I don't think I've ever been so ecstatic. If I had the ability, I would ask Sherman Moton to father my child. I think Central's coach said it best when he said that if Sherman tried that shot 100 times, he would miss 99 times. Thankfully, he didn't, and the rest is history, or perhaps legend.
