Lebanon eliminated Oakland 5-1. Chase Hudson went the distance for the Blue Devils to get the win, escaping a bases-loaded jam in the bottom of the 7th. Helped his own cause with four RBI.

Benny Jennings for honorary assistant coach. He once emptied a bucket of balls in the dugout with a perfectly executed "donkey kick" following a missed sign. It was a thing of beauty. BTW -- Skeen once sent an assistant out to make a pitching change, but he left the kid in. The assistant tells Skeen, "he says he can get 'em out". Next pitch is a two-run double off the wall. Skeen never looks up, but says so everyone in the dugout can hear, "did he say when"?

Friday night's game at Mt. Juliet -- MJ 4, Beech 1. Haydel (7-0) threw a one-hitter.

Wilson Central run-ruled Gallatin 12-0 Thursday in Gladeville. Combined with an 8-2 win over LaVergne on Wednesday, I've got 'em at 6-1 in District 9-AAA. I have no idea what the overall record is. Central plays at home tonight vs. Smyrna -- varsity at 6:30 pm.

Lebanon lost 3-2 at Gallatin Wednesday night in 9 innings.

I just saw the picture on the cover page of Coach T. The one with the Siegel first base coach doing his Babe Ruth impersonation, or is it John Kruk? Those new unis are VERY slimming, not!

Wilson Central's Jasmine hassell is NOT playing in the TACA east-west game today at Trevecca. She's in Miami for the McDonald's All-America Game. Next week she'll be in St. Louis for the Nike WBCA All-Star Game. TACA officials were notified two weeks ago.

UPDATE -- Visitation has been changed to 10 a.m. Saturday at J.C. Hellum Funeral Home, Lebanon. Funeral services will begin at 12 Noon.

Raymone played for a couple of seasons at MTSU under Boots, then went on and graduated with a degree in criminal justice. Taught CJ at Lebanon for a few years at Lebanon and coached under Ron Marshall. Was working at Hickory Hollow Sears as head of loss prevention and volunteer assistant at LaVergne. I believe he did coach for a season or two at Blackman. His brother, Demond Stone, played at Tenn Tech and was a standout receiver. J.C. Hellum Funeral Home in Lebanon will be handling arrangements. 2priceless -- Raymone caught three TD passes vs. Oakland in the '87 or '88 game. Lebanon vs. Oakland was always something special.

Former Lebanon High standout Raymone Shockley passed away Sunday of natural causes. Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time. Shockley played wide receiver and defensive back for the Blue Devils in 1987 and 1988 during the first two seasons of Mark Medley's coaching tenure. He once caught four TD passes vs. White County. Coached for a few years in Rutherford County. Great guy and outstanding teammate. LHS Class of '89. RIP No. 7.

Everyone needs to check out the new Mt. Juliet High field. It's really something. The outfield was laser-graded, SprintTurf behind the plate, spacious bullpens, the works. One of the best on campus fields I ahve ever seen.

After last weekend's Wilson County Invitational was washed out -- this game was added to the schedule. Lebanon is playing at Watertown today at 1 p.m. and will host Central at 7:30 p.m. Central is 3-0 coming in and Lebanon was 4-0 before playing Watertown. Should be a good one. Look for cool weather in the Baird Park Complex.

I'm not so worried about the rain. I know Lebanon and Mt. Juliet both have tarps. I'm worried about the cold. Ice could form on the tarps. Long underwear for everyone.
