  1. If CSAS's younger players step -up (and they have been lately), this will be a good game. Powell will also have to match Robinson's intensity on both ends of the floor.
  2. Welcome to the Chattanooga-area (in advance)!
  3. Hats off to momofcami and Cami! We need more like the two of you. Players to care enough about something (everybody needs to care about something!) and parents to keep things in perspective. Keep up the good work!
  4. I couldn't argue with the fact that this is a good list, but you're leaving off a couple of deserving players: Joe Maffett, Dewayne Myers (Watkins), Tim Bone, Keith Rawls, Alfred Cantrell, Kelvin Elston, Dwayne Garner. The 1st four were on the '84 team that won Brainerd's 1st State Championship. Also good point about the Riverside teams!
  5. MC Dad Excellent point & great examples to back it up!
  6. Is anyone out there as impressed with the level of basketball being played in Bradley County as me? They're putting out some very productive student/ athletes for a small area. Hats off to the Bradley County- area parents, coaches, and athletes. Keep doing what you're doing!
  7. I don't recall hearing Johnny's name mentioned, but that doesn't mean he's not playing. He should've heard something by now though! I say we start a put " Johnny in the Game" thread!
  8. Personally, I would like to see Brandon Brown (Ooltewah) play in it. I think his game is underrated. I would like to see him match-up with the ones that everyone agrees have talent.
  9. I think that would be good for Basketball Atmosphere in Chattanooga. I've said this in another thread, and I'll repeat it. If it brings College coaches & scouts to Chattanooga, it's a good thing. It would be good to see if they could somehow arrange a way for them Chattanooga- area) to play Oak Hill, but I do remember the Ron Mercer deal. They also played Science Hill (Johnson City) that year & lost! It still can be worked to provide exposure to Chattanooga- area hoopers.
  10. Burndemnets, I'll have to agree with you on this one. I've been to ALL of the games and they are pretty organized. The college coaches get to see players that are unsigned compete against players that are signed to see how they match-up. If a kid can't cut it, it'll show in the game. Anything that brings college coaches to this area has to be a plus!
  11. If I'm not mistaken, this game is for only seniors, and Robinson is a junior. I don't recall his name being mentioned either. I could be wrong, it wouldn't be the first time.
  12. The game is at Tyner Academy. The Girls' game will begin at 4:00 and will feature Lindsey Jackson, Holly Rogers, Denishia Leftwhich, Mindy Cox, Jesse Gowan, and more. The boys will play afterwards with a dunk contest in between. The boys contest will feature Charles Little, Caleb Skogen, Jonathan Adams, Jeff Smith, Dontae McCullough, Rodney Marsh, Emmanuel Talley, and more. Those are the names that I was told that I remember off the top of my head, but I can contact the guys at Pre- Game to get the full rosters. I will post it when I get it.
  13. I agree that Katrich is one of the top players in the State. Opposing teams consistently build their defensive scheme around stopping her, which is easier in an half- court setting than it is in transition. She's a great finisher!
  14. I'll have to agree with you on that one playa. I was unfortunate enough to coach against Mo in various Summer leagues in Memphis, while I had Marico & Deandre on my team. I 've been able to watch him over the last year or so, and I think his game is a little more complete. Plus, he has the size you're looking for. I also have to say that I can't be more proud of how Marico & Deandre have progressed. They're good kids & very coachable!
  15. Skogen, Little, Smith, and Adams are scheduledto play in the Pre- Game Roundball Classic on April 16th, so they can settle it (Best of the Preps) on the court!
  16. Actually, I think that Jeff Smith deserves to make the All-City Team (Even though he had a better year last year). He played through an adversarial year, without consistent help. The team was plagued with hints of jealousy, thus the dismissal and quitting of many players that were part of the problem. He played most of the year on a squad that consisted of mostly b- team players. He averaged high double figures in points without taking a high amount of shots and double figures in rebounds. Not only that, he's a good kid and a solid student, as are Skogen & Adams. He should be considered, if nothing else, because of his omission on last year's all- city team.
  17. If you're speaking from a seasonal standpoint, my choice would CSAS (Chattanooga Arts & Sciences). You have a very experienced backcourt a junior superstar emerging in Powell and more size than most teams in your district. They had the talent of a small junior college, but they played very inconsistent and defense wa never a priority. They just tried to outscore everybody. I attended several (over 7) games, and I never saw 1 charge taken. In fact I only saw 2 charges attempted to be taken. I expected a lot more out of them this year. Doc Hope for the best and expect the worst?
  18. I think Caleb is a wise choice for this year. He's able to do so much on the court in terms of scoring, defense, and making his teammates play up to his level. You also have to take into consideration that he's following-up a good season with a great season. It would also make a good story line for the press seeing that his brother Jake one it (MR. BAsketball) a couple of years back. Doc like it or love it?
  19. Commander, I really appreciate the info. Keep me in mind if you hear of anymore. Thanks, thumb Doc 6
  20. Anyone know of any reputable hoop tournaments during the Summer months?
  21. Does anyone know of any reputable hoop tournaments during the Summer months for ages 17-under?
  22. That's remarkable for an area that size, and it just goes to show you that big-time talent can be found in small places! I look forward to seeing ya'll on February 15th!
  23. I have an on-going arguement with a person that considers himself knowledgable about basketball. I believe that Cleveland has the best core group of seniors, while my buddy believes it's Walker Valley. I'll admit that Walker Valley looks impressive, but the edge has to go to Cleveland. Any other seniors worth mentioning in the area (Chattanooga)?
