  1. Seymour is getting an excellant coach. She has a ton of experience, both as a player and as an assistant coach. She does a excellant job of coaching up her talent, and has done a great job in AAU. But be prepared, she is firm, but fair. I wouldn't go as far as saying it is her way or the highway, but she won't take much stuff from a player or a parent. She played for a coach who wouldn't take advice form parents, so I doubt she will. With her contacts, she will quickly catch up on the "camps" and practices situation. Good luck Brandi!
  2. Congradulations to the 13U Lady Trotters, going 5-0 to win this groups first State Championship! On to King's Island! A tough weekend turned out to have a silver lining.
  3. Wow, did everyone dry up and blow away? Lady Pats and Lady Trojans Wednesday for home court in substate!
  4. I know it is a rivalry game, but I don't think Johnny G lets his girls take East lightly. East might have shown them all their tricks in the District semi....West by 15. I think the TN High / Jeff County matchup is very intrigueing. Can Jeff County value the ball like it did Friday night? Only committing 2 turnovers will win you a lot of games. I don't know a thing about TN high, except they appear to be on a hot streak. Too close to call, IMO. Wish I could be there....
  5. Anyone have any upset predictions for tonight? While I would love an IMAC sweep, reality says that is incredibely unlikely.... I am going with the seeds, although I think the toughest home test will be in Dumplin Valley.
  6. So, reading the scoreboard: D2 #1 vs D1 #4 Morristown West hosting Central D1 #2 vs D2 #3 Science Hill hosting Morristown East D1 #1 vs D2 #4 Tennesse High hosting Sevier County D2 #2 vs D1 #3 Jefferson County hosting DB Can someone post the all conf and all tourny teams? And if anyone familar with the Big 8 (dist 1) would like to give us scouting reports on the 4 qualifiers, I am sure fans from District 1 attending the games would be appreciative. And on that subject - a pet peeve. I attended one night of the IMAC tourney, and discovered no team rosters available. I would have paid a dollar to get a printout of the teams rosters. How tough would that have been to do? And maybe an income generator?
  7. We have had these discussions in years before when Greeneville was the obvious # 1 team in region one. In 2004 we had about convinced ourselves that district two might sweep the opening round games of regions, only to have Greeneville be the only team to survive to the semis. The reality is that those types of discussions are for fans only. I am not aware of a coach that thinks that any loss is a good one, despite the numerous times they are called "wakeup calls". That is just putting spin on a loss. I think most all believe that you win tonight, and worry about the next one tomorrow. If DB won tonight, then Jeff County will have their hands full Friday. It will be interesting to see the matchups, but I would think that West, Tn High and Science Hill are pretty much a lock, and the Jeff County game will be the game most likely be the most difficult one for the higher seed to hold onto.
  8. I am not looking at a map, so bear with me...what KIL 3A school would be closest to Jeff County or Seymour. Fulton, Carter and East highs are all 2A, right? So would it be West High or Central? The geography seems to point to South Doyle...
  9. Megan Lyons was better than OK Bud....it was a real treat getting to watch her in Green for 4 years. I hope we see her coaching in Greeneville someday. Manuel wasn't half the player.Megan showed up ready to play every game and gave 110%. I saw Keisha give 110% once in the Ladies Classic, posting up against Sylvia Fowles. She just flat shut Fowles down. I don't think she turned in another performance like that for the rest of her high school career...it was frustrating to see someone with so much talent and so little desire. I loved watching Sienna Forney too! and Alex White....we could use another pg like Alex. Oh the memories!!! Barb, what was really great were the 2 years that those Greeneville teams played Jeff County 4 times each year. Those were some great games, and the shame is, we probably didn't realize just how much talent we were watching. I miss those years (actually those teams) also. I saw Lyons play 6 or 7 times those two years, against Ashley Kyle, and they were great performances for both of them. Good luck to all the teams over there. The IMAC group misses you GreenEVILle (sorry, couldn't resist) posters. Not the same without you guys...and BARB!
  10. Congrats to the East girls, who will be making thier first regional appearance in 9 years!
  11. Shockers tonight are okay. Wednesday is another story....LOL!
  12. Is the scoreboard accurate? Sevier County beat Cocke County?
  13. Looking at District 1's schedule, they are playing the girls on Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Monday. Boys are play Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, Tuesday. At least there is only a one day difference from quarters to finals... And, maybe more importantly, the brackets halves are playing on the same night...1, 8, 4 and 5 are playing Monday, 2,3,6,7 are playing Tuesday, so the survivors playing Friday have the same amount of rest.
  14. PTS - I think they have until the 24th to resolve a winner. So a one day weather delay would not force back to back nights. Girls region starts Friday the 26th, Boys on Saturday the 27th. If the schedule got pushed back a day, then the teams making regions would still have 3 days between the District Finals and the start of Regions. And usually because the District one area's weather is rougher than ours, a weather delay potentailly causes more problems in District 1 than in District 2.
  15. I agree that the 1 and 2 should be assured a semifinal berth. And if I have it figured right, it doesn't add any time to the schedule... Monday : Girls 5-8 play Tuesday - Boys 5-8 play Wednesday - monday winners vs 3 and 4 Thursday - tuesday winners vs 3 and 4 Friday - Wednesday winners vs 1 and 2 Saturday - Thursday winners vs 1 and 2 Monday - Seeding games Tuesday - Seeding games. The only question I have...does the bracket stay solid once it is designed, or does the # 1 seed face the lowest seed left in the semis?
  16. I would have thought that as a reward for being the number 1 and 2 seeds, that they would play Monday, and have the 4 days of rest for Friday's game. I understand that, in theory, they have the easier games, and thus should not be as stressed as the the 3-6 seeds, but I still think there should be some reward for being the 1 and 2 seeds.
  17. So who makes all conf? In the past, with 6 teams, 1st place team usually got 3 selected, 2 from teh # 2 team, and then usually 5 from the remaining 4 teams, plus the POY. I am guessing you will have POY, plus 2 from # 1, 2 from # 2, and 6 from the other 6? Or maybe 8 from the the bottom 7? I haven't seen all the teams, so I will only pick names for teams I know or have seen. POY -Hall MW - Goins, Fanney(?) CC - Depew, Buda Sey - Cowan Jeff - Nelson East - Blaylock SC, SD, Cherokee 1 each. Which brings up a point - 2 years ago, the league was full of good wing players, now it is a post and point guard league. Am I just missing something? Maybe that reverts next year with the graduation of Fanney. Buda, Nelson, the other senior PG at West.
  18. Didn't Johny G say in teh Trib after Tuesday's game that he was having trouble motivating his team, that appeared to be waiting for the playoffs. Sounds like thats what hit them Thursday. The scoreboard makes me think he got their attention for Cocke County.
  19. Cocke County now has 4 losses - 2 games left (Jeff and Seymour) Jeff has 5 losses - 1 game left (Cocke) Seymour has 5 losses - 2 game left. (Cherokee and Coicke) Jeff could have pushed Seymour to 4th tonight, but played poorly, and la scrappy Seymour team won by dominating the 2nd half. Assuming Seymour beats Cherokee: A Jeff win Thursday vs Cocke assures them of no worse than 3rd. Cocke County sweeps next week, they are teh 2nd seed, and Seymour and Jeff finish tied for 3rd, and who knows what the tie breaker is? Coin flip becasue they split the 2 games? If Cocke County loses both, they fall to 4th, and Jeff and Seymour tie for 2nd. Obviously, 2nd and third are critical seeds, to keep you from playing West until the final, and thus giving you a regional home first game. Fall to 4th seed, get West in the semi, and you are then on the road for your opening regional game. Plus, as the 4th seed, you get Sevier County, who has beaten Jeff and Seymour already. Add into this that Seymour will be playing its 4th game of the week by Saturday, and you got to favor Cocke County to finish 2nd. If Jeff doesn't show any more heart Thursday night than they did tonight, they are in a world of hurt.
  20. East has a chance in the tourny. As Jeff proved last year, playing on your home court can be very important. East and Jeff played one of the most competitve games lsat night that I have seen in a while. Came down to the last shot in double overtime, both teams had chances to win (and lose).
  21. Rob - the shooter you are trying to remember is the Smith girl at MW. Watching her has been interesting, as a freshman, she almost had to carry that team from the outside, and was the only light that year until the end when MW made a miracle run. As her time has progressed, Taylor has come on the scene, and of course Sidney has proven to be not just a great athelete, but a great basketball player. So now Smith, who might have been one of the greatest scorers in MW history ends up being part of a great team that has a chance to be something special. I haven't heard where she is going to college, but if she is playing ball at the next level, someone is getting a steal. If she is open, it is going through the bottom of the net!
  22. Standings (according to CoachT results, and they look like they are accurate): West 8-0 Cocke 7-2 Jeff 6-3 Seymour 5-3 Sevier County 5-5 East 5-6 Cherokee 1-8 South Doyle 0-10 West remianing games: Cocke 2, Jeff, Seymour, Sevier County (2) If you count those all as losses, then Cocke, Jeff and Seymour would all be tied, loss wise. Jeff and Seymour have 2 games left, and Cocke County has 1 gane with both Jeff and Seymour. Sevier County(7 losses after West ganes) would be out of contention for 2nd, and East would need a lot of help to get to 2nd. The loss Jeff suffered to Sevier County at home is likely going to haunt them, unless they sweep the ganes with Cocke County and Seymour. Any word when the Seymour/ Jeff game that was snowed out will be made up?
  23. I think yoiur standings are at least one game off. Jeff County has 3 losses, and I think everyone has played at least 8 games.
  24. Then getting the # 2 seed will become vitally important. Cherokee and South Doyle are terrible, so not having to play in the 3-6 group would be a huge advantage. Saying that, it was only 5 years ago when a 1-23 Cocke County upset Jefferson County to qualify for regions, so nothing is impossible. Part of me likes this format (all 8 teams playing on opening night) and another part of me says it would be a shame if West was hit with a flu bug, and somehow got upset in the first round, and therefore missed out on the state tourney. I bet they stick with this format until some # 1 team gets beat by an 8 seed, and then they will rework the process. By the way, anybody from Cherokee wish to discuss whether there is any rumblings about how the team is doing post Coach Price?
  25. Well, according to the scoreboard, Sevier County beat Seymour by 14 last night. I'm not certian of remaining games, but I don't think there is a clear favorite for 2nd right now. Does anyone know how the conf touney will be set up? Will all 8 teams play the first night, or is there a stepping stone effect that guarantees the 1 and 2 seed a spot in regions? I know the KIL districts used to use that style tourney format. PTS, do you know?
