  1. TC - would that be a three by a certain Hale girl? /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  2. Tonight: Cherokee at Greeneville Jefferson County at Morristown East Morristown West at Cocke County Greeneville wins despite the injuries, because, gosh /ph34r.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="ph34r.gif" /> the game is in Greeneville! I think Jeff County pulls out a tough one at East, although I think East will be heavily motivated to win this one. I believe I will take West in a squeaker at the Hen House. I think it is likely that the Lady Red will be too fired up, and West gets an early lead, and some CC ladies get in foul trouble. The Lady Trojans will have to have lots of poise, becasue it will be hot (despite the sub freezing temps outside) inside, and the fans will be rowdy. Trojan fans, if you want a good seat, I would get there before the JV boys game is at halftime. Good health to everyone! /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  3. I edited your quote in the interest of space /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> Good points. Jeff County had a good stretch last year, and then had a week layoff, and I think that hurt them, as they did not play well after that. My only concern, if I was a MW fan (and I am not) would be that playing a physical ( I think scrappy was the politically correct term someone else used recently) team like South Greene could casue some problems being carried over to Friday. Bruises, aches, etc.
  4. Greeneville needs someone like Devan McIntyre to assist with the ball handling. Devan was very clutch with the ball last year, taking some of the pressure off of Ramsey.
  5. I think it is intresting that a Greeneville fan is complaining about a Lady Geene Devil getting knocked around. Coach Crumbly over the past 3 years has established the threshold for phyiscal play, especially on the defense end. It is a well know fact in the conference that when you play Greeneville, you are going to go home bruised up. The past two years have seen an escalation of the physiical play by all our teams, to the point when I see our IMAC teams out of conference, the opposing fans are constantly compaining about our physical play. The unfortuunate part is I firmly believe we have a bunch of referees working this conference who cannot figure out how to call this new level of physical play. So you get inconsistancy, between the various refs in the same game, and between games. So then you get frustration on the part of some players, to the point where it could be very dangerous on the court. I am not condemming the physical play, because if you watch a women's college game, that is how it is played, especially at the higher levels. The problem is the poor job of being consistent by the refs. I have seen enough basketball, and have been associated with it at the coaching level (AAU) to know that the ladies react and adjust to a well called game. The problem comes when the calls are not the same throughout a game. The other problem I have with the refs is that some are obviously intimidated by selected coaches in our league. Combine that with the inabaility to call the game as it is being played, and you have bad officiating. The GreenEVILle fans are going to have to reconcile themselves to the fact that the fans of this league, and many of the posters on here, have watched too many games played in Greeneville where the HOME team has gotten an abundabce of calls, or worse yet, have NOT gotten called for obvious fouls, and now that the tables are turned a little, and things are not as rosy in Greeneville, there is going to be some chirping on here and in the stands about thier misfortune. The talent on some of the other teams has caught up to Greeneville's level, while I think Greeneville's level is not as stong as it has been the past 4 years. The mystique, as LadyRed Fan has been talking about, is not there any more. Will it be different for Cocke County at Greeneville? Probably. But the Lady Red will be playing that game with the knowledge that they have done it now. I think it is unlikely (barring a major injury) that West slips to 2nd, so it likely sets up a Greeneville / Cocke County showdown in Dumplin Valley for the chance to host a regional game. And should Greeneville lose that game, that means all Regional games on the road for Greeneville! I asked earlier if anyone envisioned a different 2nd half than what we have seen in the first half? Cocke County could start a trend next week against West. I have experienced Homecoming at the Hen House. Even without Coach W promotions, it is a packed, LOUD house. Add to it a possible battle for 1st place and it will become an eye opener for West, to be sure. Plus the homecoming activities are quite nice!!!! /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> If you are curious aout what I edited, I have underlined where I edited. RR.
  6. Ok, so I am not perfect, but I was really split on the 4/5 position, and really, as far as seeding for the District Tourny, it really doesn't matter. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> At the halfway point, who will have a different 2nd half??? Better or worse? If this holds up, Cherokee would play Greeneville, and Jeff would play East in the opening round of the tourney. Jeff/East winner faces West, Greeneville/Cherokee winner faces Cocke County. When was the last time Greeneville had to play in the first round? 2003? /ph34r.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="ph34r.gif" />
  7. Standings Morristown West 4-0 Cocke County 3-1 Greeneville 3-1 Jefferson County 2-2 Morristown East 0-4 Cherokee 0-4 Schedule: East at Cherokee Greeneville at Cocke Jeff at West So, we have the battle for 5th place (I think East should win, but it is AT Cherokee), The battle for 2nd place (I like Cocke County at home), And hopefully just a battle (I like West at home, although it should be noted that Jeff has won at West the last two years). Good luck to every one, and good health! /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> See Nutty, SMILEYS!!!!!!!!!!
  8. You are right, as I only go to a few games now, it would be nice if someone else got on here and talked about Jeff County. I went to the game Tuesday, and I would sure like some feedback from the Lady Red's fans on this. It was the kind of game that I kept asking myself, how is Jeff County staying in this game? Don't get me wrong, I was happy that Jeff Coiunty was staying in it, but if you go down the starting limne-ups for each team, I don't think any of the Jeff County starters matchup with the Cocke County starters. Depew had a terrible shooting night, and several times, looked exhausted out there. Was she feeling okay? I was thinking she might have been battling the flu or something. As for Jeff County, they did not take advantage of the opportunity presented Tuesday night. Buda had foul trouble, yet they didn't force her to play defense, or take the ball to her, and as I said, Depew was having trouble making shots. I think Friday at West is going to be a lonnnnnnnnnnnngggggggg game for the Lady Patriots.
  9. OK, wake up everyone!!!!!! I know some teams are playing tonight, but there are conference games tomorrow! Cocke County at Jefferson County Greeneville at Morristown East Cherokee at Morristown West I think the most interesting game is the East/Greeneville game. East's problems are usually related to pressure on thier guards, and Greeneville has had some problems at the guard position. If Leeper can stay out of foul trouble, I think this could be a very interesting game. Especially if Kelley is out. West wins in a walk. Jeff County has had problems figuring out the current group of Cocke County girls for 2 years, and I don't think it will be much better tomorrow night. IMO! /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  10. Merry Christmas to all the players, coaches and fans of the IMAC!!!!! My Christmas gift to you, our posters and readers: A quote I always enjoyed from one of our beloved posters: "Maybe the Hokey Pokey IS what it is all about!" /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  11. Good win for Mo East in the Volunteer Classic! I am sure coach17 will have an opinion to share with us about the game.
  12. I think you are looking for monsters under your bed!!! First, you have problems getting a good game story in your own paper, so how in the world do you think a JC or Bristol paper is going to give you good cred?!? 2nd,, Tricitiessports.com has 4 IMAC teams in their area top 8. The top three are all undefeated, and then they are mainly going on records, which admitedly, GreenEVILle's at 6-4 isn't what they are used to. (West is 1, Cocke is 5, Greeneville is 6, and Jeff is 8) 3rd. I think the Nutty Buddy (sorry, but I like the name also NUT) might be on to something... Greeneville girls BB might be like the Yankees around here. The good news for you, is that you have to earn that position, but you also have to be aware, that it has been a long slide for the Yankees, so maybe Greeneville's time has come due. 4th - West and Greeneville will likely play 4 times this year, the last two with seeding on the line. So you/they are going to have a chance to decide this for themselves. It isn't like the BCS, and you aren't the Texas Longhorns. 5th - aren't we having a GREAT time discussing all of this? Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good game!!!! /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> /flower.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":flower:" border="0" alt="flower.gif" /> /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  13. The perfect pregame snack, if I ever heard one!!!!! /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  14. By the way, Good win for East last night against Crockett! And I see that Cocke won big while Jeff fell to Pigeon Forge. Anyone attend games last night that can share thier thoughts?
  15. OK, I guess I kinda fueled this fire (at least one of them), so I will attempt to get us redirected. BIG GAME TONIGHT!!!!! So who wins? I like West, but the game is at GreenEVILle, where I have personaly seen a boys coach allowed to coach from the center circle on the court DURING THE LAST 40 seconds of a game. So that said: I think West wins a close one. /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />
  16. Rob, my thought was that in two years, Depew, Buda, Scruggs, et al, are going to be gone. Ryans will be a senior, the current crop of Cherokke players that seem to be playing right now will be juniors, and then the shoe could be on the other foot. So, either the coach doesn't care, or he doesn't plan on being there in two years. And I will throw this out for what it is worth....instead of inflicting payback for a supposed ( because noone has stated exactly what you are referring to) injustice from a previous year, why not set an example and play it the right way? Why not take the high road?? Or use the " We aren't going to lower ourselves to thier level" ploy (if in fact the injustice actually happened)?? What happened to sportsmanship? Seems the more self confident coach would have taken a different tack. What example did he set for his players, and their fans? One last comment. If the startes were still playing in the 4th quarter (and pressing) of a one-sided game, what are the benchwarmers parents thinking? Again, just my wandering thoughts....
  17. Oh Stat...I got it. I was hoping someone else would bite first. Maybe he doesn't expect to be around long enough for payback...
  18. Congradulations to Nicole. Considering some of the players (scorers) that have passed through Greeneville, that is quite an achievement!!! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  19. Was last night Greene Devil win a milestone for someone? There are three pictures in the picture gallery of Coach C and Nicole holding a game ball. Just curious. Maybe it was as simple as the gameball presentation, but I have never seen newspaper coverage of that before. There was a reference in the article about Nicole being the all time leading scorer.... did she do that last night? I mean, reach the mark last night.
  20. Looking at the score on the scoreboard, I am guessing that players 10-14 got a lot of PT tonight. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  21. I think the ability to play more than 8 players is overrated. For gosh sakes, the games are only 32 minutes. Your good players ought to be able to go 25 minutes plus, so playing more than 3 subs I think just gets everyone confused. Especially if you are pulling starters 3 minutes into the game, just for the sake of getting new people in. Even you BEST players will have 3 minute stretches where they don't play well. That usually means that they will play the next 6-10 minutes very well. I think coaches at the HS level have gotten too aware of "substitution patterns" and "wearing a team down with the bench". Those are college strategies that don't always work, either. If your best 5 players average 22 minutes a game per player, that is 50 minutes of playing time left for the other players. If that ends up being 3 players play 44 of those minutes, and 2 other get 3 minutes each of mop up time, then I think you have a good rotation. My opinion, is that unless you have 10 All stars, playing 10 players almost equal minutes can create confusion. 3 years ago, West had like 8 seniors, and also 2 or 3 quality underclassman. Coach G's solution to that for most of the year was to send in 5 players at a time. We called it "line change". There were times when players appeared to forget who they were playing with. I think that team suffered from his indecesion on who should be playing. And he is not the only example of that, it is just the easiest for me to remember. Coach Burkey took two teams to State playing 8 players most of the time. Coach C has taken teams the next 3 years. So that means there were good players sitting on the bench, not playing, with Burkey, that ended up playing major roles later on. Ok, down of my box. Good luck to everyone. /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />
  22. Your Tuesday game ought to be a walk in the park. West's guard play versus East's lack of guard play? Not to get anyone's ire riled (Trottercoach), East might have more turnovers than points at halftime. And if Hall will play within herself for a little while to get a read on the officials, she might actually get Dickson on the bench in the first quarter. I think Greeneville has problems on defense. Last year, they put Dickson on Smith, and shut her down. But they had other folks that could take on the other West threats. Now if Dickson plays Hall, who guards Smith, Kelly or Shipley? And I cannot think of anyone other than Dickson that can play with Goins. So on paper, it is a West win, regardless of where they play. And remember, all of the times they played last year, Goins was out. My opinion...
  23. Are you sure? The schedule I have seen shows it as a Friday game.
  24. The box score I saw showed Jeff County up at halftime. Maybe they were down at some time in the 2nd or 3rd quarter?
  25. Hopefully, the team echoes your feelings, and looks past Jefferson County on Tuesday. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
