Can Brentwood High bring back the state football crown this year in 5A

are you insane? Halls is just as good as William Blount and Maryville. Yes Maryville beat Farragut, but not against an ace or #2 guy. Larson throws straight gas and so does Lockwood. There will be basehits in tonights game but no predictions can be made. it's too close to call, all of us arguing need to go watch and just keep quiet until the game is over. This game is one of the best yet all season so lets just savor the moment.

i'll also be pitchin and playin some outfield for the Impact with those boys

very true...you have to think of the fact that the problem most teams run into is pitching depth. i know we have coffey, fagan, and gore that will go 1,2,&3 if we make it that far, but after that we run into a problem of either throwing a lower end guy or pitching one of them on short rest.

sportsfanatic i whole heartedly agree with you because our coach has a brain fart and threw me monday for 3 innings against central. i was hopin for the start against campbell county but i dunno...the 3 innings i threw was on 3 days rest. i'd say i could come back and pitch tomorrow but i guess he's goin with coffey. it's always good to mix it up.

oak ridge is a very lethal team right now. as mentioned they have two quality starters in brown and mullins. not to mention seth reardon and jake vane. their bats seem to have come to life at the right time and if the keep playin like they have...we are lookin at a carbon copy of the year they went from the play-in game to the region....

lookin at a rematch of coffey vs bostic. this will be coffeys 3rd time around he pitched complete game W's the first two times. this rematch occured last wednesday as clinton won 4-3 in 8. he carried a NO NO into the 7th but a couple of defensive lapses caused it to go into extras.

who do you guys think will win and get the pleasure of playing powell?

i don't know if you can really say who the BEST player is, because a player has a bad night every now and then and the other has a break out night. if you want to say the player with the best supporting cast you could go with any of the guys from farragut. they have grown up playing together and team chemistry always helps to make a ball club that much better. all of these players are premier players in the south and have made a name for themselves. these guys aren't going to major division I colleges on accident. and yes i agree with Statement......pitchers are recruited more heavily by professional scouts. Most pro teams take it as a major business risk to draft a catcher with one of their early picks as there are many free agent catchers with experience that they can pick up. Joe Mauer of the Twins is one of the few catchers to come straight to the pros out of high school. you have to look at this.. a picther is going to be used for one reason to PITCH but a catcher starting has to play the field and hit. he may be doing well defensively but he may be suspect at the plate and hurt the team by not producing.

Lockwood can take the outside pitch the opposite way with power...he will rarely chase a pitch away. I pitched against them this year and stayed away on him the whole time with some success. i'd have to say i'd go backdoor curve on him and change up. i wouldn't risk giving him the fastball that he can drive over the leftfield fence opposite way.

now i know clinton's record is 12-18 (3-8), but i'm very curious about one thing...we sweep campbell county and they are ranked 10 spots ahead of us and we have 5 more victories than they do. we take 2 out of 3 from oak ridge and they are 30 spots ahead of us with only 3 more wins? we have beat a AA team in Lenior City(24W's!) that beat Halls. An Anderson County team that is ranked in the 50's in AA. an Elizabethton team that is ranked in the 40's in AA that beat AAA teams. we play Powell to a close 5-0 game. something doesn't seem right?!

i haven't seen the guy pitch but i hear he's very impressive...are we talkin the same caliber as jeff lockwood? by this i mean the overpowering left hander?

Clinton won 4-3 on Alumni Night @ Alvin Taylor Field tonight in one heck of a game. Raymond Ruggles started the game for the Fighting Cocks as he mowed down one Dragon after another early on. Cocke Co. jumped on Dragon starter Daniel Gore for 3 runs in the top of the first as it looked like a run-away early. Gore responded with 6 strong innings finishing with 11 K's and a complete game. A scary moment came as the 2nd baseman for Cocke. Co had to leave the game due to medical reasons(pray for him please) and the game was delayed for over 20 minutes As play resumed the Dragons had a huge rally in the bottom of the 6th getting 4 runs on 2 squeeze plays and some costly errors. All in all it was a very well played game as Coach Taylor got his first win against son Casey in 4 games played in the series.

just exactly who got kicked off of the team? i know bowman, swaggerty and hickam who were the others?

I'm telling you right now Helton was close to going to Powell but at the last moment the family sorta 'patched it up' and he is not going anywhere...I don't know why he would he's a star at Central (in football)...Baron is at Powell now I knew it was just a matter of time on that one I just thought it woulda happened a couple of years ago...But to let the rumors rest Helton is and will be a Bobcat til he graduates...PS I'm in the loop and I know this to be true...
