  1. I haven't said a whole lot lately about Temple football, so let me just take a moment to say how proud I am of our football team. You guys have shown a lot of heart and determination this season. You've worked hard and have demonstrated that you don't have to have a lot of players to win ballgames. The players and coaching staff have shown a lot of character, patience and dedication to this great game.

I'm grateful that you guys are going to the first round of the playoffs. This is a great accomplishment for such a young program. We have been blessed by God with some great talent on this team and we all should give Him thanks and praise.

I know that our football team is not expected to get the win over Trousdale County, and that is ok. But down through the years there has been many expectations that were never fulfilled. So, let me encourage you guys just to play to the best of your abilities, have fun and play hard.

Don't focus on your opponent -- but focus on what you do best. Carry out your game plan and work together as a team. Take advantage of this moment. Relax and enjoy the experience. But don't relax too much!! Knock someone off their feet every once in a while!! Truck someone!! Run your butts off!! Hit someone -- for heaven's sake!! (I just had to take a break from the gobbly goop to say that)

Now getting back to my inspirational speech.

I know that winning seems important, but it actually is irrelevant.

Having attempted to give your all is what matters -- and you are the only ones who really know the truth about your capabilities and performance.

When the game is over the question to ask and answer is this: Did I do my best?

"Success is peace of mind that is a direct result of self-satisfaction in knowing you did your best to become the best you are capabale of becoming." -- John Wooden

Finally - someone with some sense!

    Thanks OldTime

  2. Seven pages and most of it worthless garbage.

Someone mentioned the story of David and Goliath. TC has been "David" before, and TC fans know what I'm talking about. Unfortunately, Temple will not be "David" this week. And whether it's Dillehay and his first team or White and the rest of the TC subs, the Jackets will roll over Temple on the creekbank and start preparing for round 2 of their quest to win the 2005 1A State Championship come Saturday morning. A trip to the 'Boro is where and when a lot of you posters will see what TC football is all about in 2005. Good luck Clint and to all the TC players on accomplishing your goal to place yet another gold ball in your trophy case.

    "Worthless Garbage", huh?

    And who might you be?

    GOD?

  3. Temple was the better team last night. The game was alot closer than the score says it was 13-3 with like 10 minutes to go. Temple didnt throw the ball as good i thought they would, but Smith ran the ball very well.

Dont get this the wrong way. Temple played better football the deserved to win but what did yall think of some of the calls?

The calls were definitely in favor of Grace.

I don't think Temple ever had as many penalties called against them like they did last night. They had 15 penalties called against them for 160 yards. Grace only had 4 for 20 yards. Looks kind of lopsided to me.

You are right, Temple was the better team last night and is the better team period. And as far as the score -- the game should have been a bigger blowout than it was. Temple did not play its best game last night. But I gotta give it to temple's defense -- they did a good job against Grace. And Josh Smith once again showed he is the real deal when it comes to football. He was unstoppable when running the ball.

And even though Smithson didn't have his best performance last night -- he still did what he had to do and showed he is a good QB. And Seth Skogen had some great catches as well. Good job to all the team.

I hope you guys take it to Trousdale next week and beat 'em.

I know they think they're gonna kill us -- but I truly believe Temple can upset Trousdale. Plan hard, practice hard and play hard this coming week.

  4. 91-0 is rediculous. I dont care how bad RBS is or how good TC's freshman are. The coaches and staff at TC should be ashamed of what they did to RBS. That's just lack of class and no one deserves to be embarrased like that. I have lost all and any respect I ever had for TC and their program. Furthermore, anyone who tries to justify the score of this game should be ashamed also. No competant person would say a beating like this is necessary.

    Amen to that!!

  5. Whatever dude . . .

Yeah -- run the score up on us too . . .

Tell'em to call and forfeit and save their gas money. <_< Where should we stop scoring? 21-0? 35-0? 48-0? you tell us when to stop. You want us to put the cheerleaders in so you can get beat by girls?

Oh -- we got a real comic on our hands.

I believe we have just a little more class than that.

Our guys will come ready to play next week. They're not worried one bit about playing the #1 team in the state. Win or lose Temple will show they are a team with a lot of heart and talent. They're just glad to be able to go to the football playoffs in their third year of existence. So you can joke all you want to about the game -- it doesn't bother us at all. Have at it.

  6. Vespie stand in the BULLDOGS way, "HAHAHAHAHA", what a JOKE! The reason that Vespie moved to Temple was because he didn't like standing in somebody else's shadow, that wasn't a vespie! As for Vespie and his Temple buddies they better hope that they don't run into the dogs because it will be an all out war!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

YEah -- Ok -- Sure -- Whatever you say.

    Talk about a joke!!

  7. I dnt know why everyone thinks Smithson is so great. Temple would get beat by McCallie 100-0 if they played with Coleman having 500 yards passing and Smithson having 50, maybe. Temple plays no one so how could someone not have that many yards. The quarterback that left Temple 2 years ago also led the city in passing and was only a freshman. So obviously a team that passes every play and plays no one is going to have big passing yardage. Smithson should not go anywhere to play college football and couldn't play at many other high schools in chattanooga.

    Again, you're clueless!! Aren't you??

  8. Is Temple the best team in the state? They definatly think they are and also that they have all the best players. On the best recievers post and quarterbacks post in chattanooga it is a temple player at number 1. Skogan is good at basketball but not the number 1 reciever. I do think Skogan is deserving of the best reviever list but Smithson is not even close to deserving the best quarterback title.

    You are clueless!! Aren't you?

  9. Josh Smith from Temple (6'2 -- 225 lb. -- Junior).

He's one of the hardest working players on Temple's team.

When he gets the ball he averages around 10 yards per carry.

He knocks people over and carries them down the field.

He's a very strong player and seems to understand the game.

A couple of other good ones are Josh Goins (5'10 -- 200 lb. -- Senior) from Lookout Valley and Ryan McGowan (6'0 -- 190 lb. -- Junior) from Whitwell.

All three of these guys are tough to stop when they have the ball. I'm not sure what their numbers are for the season but I think their teams couldn't win without them.

I've seen all three of these guys play and I was impressed with their abilities.

  10. I think the basketball success has spoiled some of the fans who want an instant contender in football. They're a solid 1A team..nobody wants to lose ever, and most don't want "moral victories" but I think Temple is progressing very well.

    Good point Indian.
