Well Huber has definitely forfeited any chance of watching his son play against his former school after threatining coach helton, ive played with and against both sons and I know the story behind all this, what I dont understand is what caused the altercation, Coach Helton didnt try to stop either of these players from leaving and hasnt sought out any parents of any transfered players for arguments, this was clearly Mr. Huber having a little too much "fun" before the game. So to clear this up Coach Helton hasnt sought him out, this was all on Mr. Huber and he's gonna have to accept his consequences and move on. Not really a good way to get the Powell community on your side.
  2. look for Josh Huffaker to play some for Powell, no one has a lock on a position in the back field or qb. If Watts moves to QB Huffaker will see some time behind Courtney. Even though hes only a sophomore he can see the field better than most backs in knoxville. Dont be surprised if you hear is name a couple times throughout the year.
  3. I've got a comment about the 2nd Halls/ Farragut match up, I started and after 4 innings the game was 3-0 in Farragut's favor, so we definitely can play with them, our relief pitching was a little worn out but thats not the case now. We have 5 starters that can go the distance with about anyone around, and I'd say our chances against South Doyle look good if we show up and hit the baseball.
  4. Lockwood will throw his heart out, Cummings well......he's to worried about college to try and throw 100%, I think it will definitely come down to who hits with runners in scoring position. Halls tends to leave runners on base, but if they can get those hits with the runners on then Powell will have a tough time defending. Powell has too many holes in there line up after Treece and to face a pitcher like Lockwood will only make it tougher on them. Halls has commited plenty of errors this year, so if Powell can put the ball in play, it could be a close one. Good luck to both teams, I'm sure it will be interesting.
  5. Thanks for the info.. it's somthin I've been wondering about for a while. It seems our district always ends up close, and the number one seed hasnt won the tourny that often (with the exceptioin of Halls last year) . I'm kinda glad we got third, I think it will help lite a fire in some of players to step up in the tourny.
  6. I know Halls has two good pitchers on their JV team that have thrown quite a bit of varsity. Cody Phibbs is 4-1 and Zack Lawson has been a consistent closer all year. Lawson pitched a 1 hit game against Red Bank in the Trojan Classic last weekend, and hasnt blown a save that I have seen. If the sticks come around Halls will be a contender.
  7. If you had a chance to play Farragut, you'd find out who the best team in state is.
  8. I know its head to head tie breaker, but if Powell gets the number one seed arent they considered the overall winners. I mean, they beat the right teams at the right time obviously. Last year I pitched for Powell and beat Karns in our last district game, this gave halls the number one seed and they still clame to be "District Champs of 2003?" It seems to me if you win the right games and get the number one seed, then you won the regular season. Right?
  9. I've got my list you rank em' in what order you think Daniel Larsen of Halls Dustin Plumlee of Powell Shane Owenby of Karns Zack Bowman of Central (if he was still playin) Jeff Lockwood of Halls Kevin Cummings of Powell (when he's 100% healthy) Maybe's: Brown of Oak Ridge Turner of Halls (5-0) Phibbs of Halls (4-1)
  10. Who pitched? both teams?
  11. I don't know of any freshman pitchers that play varsity in Knoxville besides the few that Powell has, and none of them have really impressed me. Maybe someone knows of some but I cant think of them off the top of my head.
  12. Yes, if Karns was to lose to Halls tomorrow, Powell would be first and im not sure who will get 2nd and third. By the way I know this is a Powell kid, whats your name?
