  1. Yeah I played then that was my Jr. year. We had a pretty good team that year. I think we went 21-8 and made it to the regional tournament.
  2. Volunteer, You didnt think anybody knew about A.B. did you? LOL I thought when you said class you were talking about basketball class. All of those guys did graduate in 92. I played against them when I went to school at Ripley High.
  3. Jamont Gordon's dunk wasnt all that to me. Being that he was losing by about 20 points I didnt find it exciting. Also why try to throw the ball off the backboard when your team is getting killed. I went to that game to see him play because I heard a lot about him. I knew what the Delk twins would do because I had seen them play. Gordan has some skills but doesnt seem like a team player. I was extremely disappointed in what I saw of him
  4. Volunteer, This is a good post but you information is not exactly right. All of the guys that you named were not in the same classification or district. I know because I played against all of these guys but Stanley Caldwell. But I did see him play and later went to college with him. Delk was in AAA, Steve Hamer was in A, Stanley Caldwell was in AA, and Goerhing was also in AAA and was in the same district with Haywood. These were some very good basketball players. You forgot to mention that JCM had a seven footer, Albert Bond, at that time that went on to play at Tennessee State for a while. In reference to the other Delk that plays for Haywood, his name is Leslie Delk and he is also Tony's nephew.
  5. I read somewhere that he has been teaching for about 30 years. If he goes to the private school and teaches he can retire from Memphis City Schools. He can then draw his retirement from there and get a salary from the private school. His teaching load would probably be dramatically reduced and then all he would have to do is coach. Sounds like a smart decision from an economic standpoint if you ask me. Once again this is what I read somewhere, I haven't been told this.
  6. FromCommercial Appeal Tippett leaving White Station to coach at ECS March 22, 2004 Terry Tippett, whose White Station High School boys basketball team won its third straight boys Class AAA basketball championship Saturday night, is leaving the school to coach at Evangelical Christian School. ECS athletic director Jim Heinz made the announcement of the hiring of Tippett, 58, today. Tippett’s Spartans finished 39-2 this season and are ranked 11th in USA Today’s Super 25 rankings. The title was the fourth in the past five years for White Station. The team’s record during that span is 176-12. Tippett coached Trezevant High to a state championship before moving to White Station.

  8. Yeah he has some offers from different schools. I dont think Martin is one of them. If you know the coaches tell them to give him a call at the school. Dont think he has made his mind up yet.
  9. Did anyone see Rodney Chatman from Haywood play against Southside? If you did what did you think of his performance. Gomab do you think he raised his stock far as college scholarships. I think that he did an excellent job running the point the other day. Check out the stats from the game at www.tssaa.org
  10. When reading the message board I see that no one thinks Haywood can beat South Side. Why cant they get any respect. They beat some of the teams that were ranked this year. They lost to RE by only 3 points in the first game of the season. They lost to Bolivar by only 5 points after being down 18 at halftime. But since South Side beat Giles Co. everyone acts like they are just a shoo in for the championship game. Have you all forgotten about Bolivar spanking them by 20 a few days earlier. Haywood on the other hand has won 6 straight. They blew Fayette Ware out for the regional and district titles. Better Respect them.
  11. ALL of you need to see Rodney Chatman play. The hardest playing kid I have ever seen. Fits the definition of a point guard. Listed at 5'11" but is like 5'8 or 5'9 and can dunk. A tremendous athlete.
