act is not a joke... and i'll tell you my sat if you want to know... but that doesn't really matter... i just have to defend my intelligence when it is insulted, especially by people who, for all i know, could have dropped out of middle school.
the point was that all these stats can be manipulated this way and that, but the bottom line is that public schools have shown themselves to be worthy competitors for the single A private schools, disadvantage or not. but also if we are talking about A, then you can't truly use stats from sports like cross country and numerous others that play A/AA (not separated). i mean, some AA privates might move up with the multiplier, but the A publics will still be competing with the A privates in those anyway. therefore, it's basically all about football and basketball, as much as you can argue to the contrary. and in basketball this year (get ready -- this might hurt), the public schools had 12 out of 16 teams in the state tournaments... (i know, i know... "but there are more public schools anyway, so it's really just even..." -- my point EXACTLY.)
