  1. Well folks I thought I would share a little bit of my wisdom about why your team is a losin! Why is my team a loser…..see if any of these apply to your team!

    1. Genetics when you played ball you were not worth a dime, so why do you expect your princess to be any better than you? Remember the apple don’t fall far from the tree!

    2. She plays all three sports and she is just an All-Star in everything…..please tell me you don’t really believe this one…….

    3. She don’t have to take lessons she is just like her parents…please refer to number 1 reason!

    4. Coaches….when I watch a game and notice that the princes is just watchin the game when she should be coverin a base it makes me wonder if she has been taught to get her butt off the mound and back-up a base or do we need to refer to reason number 1?

    5. Coaches……when there is not a force out at a base and the infielder has her foot on the base as if there was does it mean that she wasn’t taught correctly or do we go back to reason number 1?

    6. Coaches…….why do your infielders not communicate with each other when there is a fly ball hit to the infield? Or again could it be reason number 1?

    7. Coaches……..please explain why an outfielder would run after a fly ball with their glove up in the air and then the ball hits right in front of them…..why wouldn’t she run full speed and then put her glove up to catch the ball? Por coachin or reason number 1?

    8. Coaches…….please explain I have seen the worse baserunnin in years this year is it because the coaches have not work on it or is it reason number 1?

    9. Coaches…….why would you let a batter swing at the first pitch just right after the batter in front just got four straight balls and they were not where c lose to the plate…..have you thought about takin a pitch until she throws a strike or is it reason number 1?

    10. Coaches……why would you run yourself out of an inning with the best part of your line-up comin to bat or why would you take a chance on the third out with a stupid runnin mistake……por coachin or reason number 1?

    11. Coaches……why do you play tournament games with only one pitcher…do you think you may be over workin you pitcher or could the pitcher thinks she can pitch every game or again is it reason number 1?

    12. Coaches….how many times have you heard a parent talk about someone child on the team…how many times have you heard a mama or a daddy talk about other folks….well just to let you about this little secret if they will talk about someone else in front of you they will talk about you as well….again you must look at reason number 1 to find out about the problems on your team! :flower:

  4. USJ’s Fesmire signs softball scholarship at Union

Katie Beth Fesmire JACKSON, Tenn. - 2/23/2010 - Katie Beth Fesmire, a senior at the University School of Jackson, has signed to play her college softball for the Union University Lady Bulldogs. Fesmire will enter Union this fall as a freshman and will major in nursing or some other medical field.

“Playing college softball has always been a dream of mine”, says Fesmire. “I am so excited to have that opportunity take place at Union University.”

Fesmire, a 5-foot-4 catcher, prepped at the University School of Jackson where she played softball, volleyball and was a varsity cheerleader. Fesmire played five seasons of softball for head coach Brian Dunn. She was a three-time all-district player, twice named all-district tournament, twice named first team Jackson Sun All-West Tennessee and was co-captain as a junior and senior. She posted a .372 average with 78 runs, 69 RBI, 18 doubles, eight triples and nine home runs during her freshman, sophomore and junior seasons. Fesmire helped lead her summer team to the Dixie Youth World Series championship game three times, including winning the title in 2008 and finishing runner-up in 2002 and 2007. During the summer of 2009, she was named the best all-around catcher at the Auburn (Ala.) University softball camp.

Union head coach Heather Hall says, "We are thrilled to have Katie Beth join our family here at Union. She is an exceptional student-athlete who will excel both on and off the field. She not only has excellent work ethic and drive, but a sincere passion for the sport of softball. We could not have asked for a better start to our 2011 recruiting class."

Dunn says, “What a great day for Katie Beth and the Fesmire family. It has been an honor to coach Katie Beth these last five years at USJ. She has grown so much as a player through her hard work on and off the field. I know good things are in store for her at Union.”

Off the field, Fesmire was named to the All-Northwest honor choir five times, all-state honor choir as a senior and best actress and supporting actress roles in student plays. She was also the chaplain for the Film and Key Clubs.

Fesmire is the daughter of Ben and Sherry Fesmire of Jackson. Her older brother Benjie is a freshman member of Union’s baseball team, while her younger brother Jordan is a sixth grader at USJ.

    #UNION#

  5. USJ Senior catcher Katie Beth Fesmire signed on the dotted line today with Union University. One of W.Tn Top prospects will play for the Lady Bulldogs. K.B. is the hardest worker I have ever seen. Work ethic is second to none. All District for 4 years, All West Tn .for the last 2 years. Great all around player who will always put her team first..... Great job K.B. and the best of luck on your senior season and all things to follow. Union is gettin a real gem !!!!!!!!!!!

  6. I'm sure that he will be told by his coach if not his parents that most people can't stand to hear the truth, so sugar coat everything so you don't step on anyones toes. Have a happy memorial day and go grill something!!

Note to Mr. Gant, Remember your quotes so all these older people will shut up.

    1. Just glad to be here, hope I can help the team.

    2. We worked as hard as we could, Just came up a little short today.

    3. Today was a hard loss, But we will regroup and work harder.

    4. I'm just glad we made it this far.

    5. We had fun out there today.

    Ect....

    Would that work for you.

  7. He handled Summertown with a little help from the ump, until last two innings when the ump started calling it a little tighter. Several Summertown kids were punched out on balls 6-8 inches off the plate. When the strike zone shrunk a bit to where the pitches were over the plate, Summertown started hitting. The kid was good but was he better than than Harvile (the Summertown pitcher)? Look at the hits given up in the box score. Summertown can hit, dont take that away from them. The performance of the Summertown pitcher was equally or maybe even more increadible as he got the win. Making statements as such does nothing but make those making them appear to be bad sports and sore losers.

Look, both of these teams can hit. If not they would not be in the state c-ship game. Then you add a ump, (as you said) who was making them throw right across the middle of the plate. Well they should hit the ball out of the park , everytime. Sounds to me like the hit that won the game was a blop, just over the infield. Not a bad hit for a pitch that you said was being put on a tee for the batter by the ump. Then, you ask a 15 year old what he thinks 10 min. after he just lost the state on a blop hit. Give me a break. Its been three days and your still whinning about the umps strike zone. Just think what you would have said, if you had lost, and a reporter would have stuck a mike in your face, Great win, and you guys have a great team. Just get a clue about teenagers. Thanks

  8. And then made a comment on jacksonsun.com that said the kid that got the game winning hit off him was lucky and he didn't even see it coming!? What's up with that?

So he has a 20 year old arm. But remember he is still 15 or 16 years old. Young people say the darnest things

  9. If T$$AA is going to let the privates play with public schools then they need to start letting the public schools recruit from through out their region and beyond like the private do.

Now you have traveling teams playing schools then are limited by boundries.

Thats fine, But make sure the public schools charge them 5 to 9 thousand a year to attend. make sure mom and dad give 2 to 3 hours a week at the fields working. and make sure they have a ride to and from school. then all will be the same. My kids goes to public school.

  10. Just an FYI: Lipscomb does not have lights on the high school field because the surrounding neighborhood will not approve their usage in the residential neighborhood. They allow the football field because it is only 5 nights a year basically. The athletic complex is not on the actual campus.

Their are multiple examples of this happening in Nashville alone. Father Ryan has only recently gotten approval for their football stadium to be on campus because the neighborhood fought like crazy against it. It happens to be about 2 miles from Lipscomb. DCA did not have lights until a few years ago after trying to get them approved since the 80's. These are private schools that are not on governement owned land so they have to adhere to the zoning already in place or appeal. Lipscomb and Ryan just happen to be in a very high rent area where the residents can afford to fight it.

I actually coach against Lipscomb and would love nothing more than to be able to beat them in baseball (beating them in basketball this year was especially nice), but to get on here and say things that you know nothing about is silly. They have an excellent team with 10 seniors. They were state-runner up last year for a reason. They play on a field with no lights for a reason. Good luck next season. Move on.

I know where Lip. is and the respect they get. I also know about the lights and why they do not have them. This started a few post up, when Thesolution said South Side/Lexington should plan their graduation around the region baseball game. This rubbed me wrong and I spoke my mind. South Side would no more do that. Then Lip would skip bacculauate to put up Lights. lol Im just not going to take what they said lying down.

  11. The bottom line is that the home team in the substate decides what time the game begins on Friday. They did not have to accomodate South Side in any way. They simply chose to try to help them out. The weather did not co-operate. All it did was delay the inevitable anyway.

Your right, Lip. helped our young men out. Thank you for letting them Graduate. This would have never come up untill someone thought it best to tell Lexington/South Side to plan graduation around the baseball team. I dont know how it is at Lip. but at South Side they are STUDENT/athletes not athletes/students. It will always be that way. Even if we dont win the region next year or the year after or the year after.................. get the point.

  12. I don't think i saw you out there trying to pull the tarp did I? Bacculauate is a big deal for lipscomb, asking students and parents to miss an event like that would not be an option. Lipscomb can't get lights period. How about Jackson South Side miss graduation and play the game? No way that would happen! Bottom line is Lipscomb gave all South Side could handle and more.

Why are you sorry about our pitcher? I spoke to him today and he said he was not even sore and will be ready to throw this week.

I was not there to pull your tarp because it YOUR TARP. So let me get this right, Bacculauate is a big deal for Lipscomb. But Graduation should not be for South Side or Lexington. Lip handed the Hawks their hats, your right. Good job. but why you would make that stupid post is beyond me. You said it would hurt your pitcher. I just said maybe he would not have to pitch on THUR. Big powerhouse like lip. cant get lights man I didnt think the economy was that bad until now. Good luck in the state. As for you have some class like your baseball team.

  13. suggestion to the Jackson/Lexington administration, either win your Region or schedule graduation on Sat morning. The TSSAA has had this Friday date for years. You know you're coming to Nashville if you dont win the region. Same thing will happen next yr.

The thunderstorm that came through Friday around noon suddenly rose and wasnt on radar until it was too late. Most of Lipscomb's team was in Bacculauate Service and wasnt able to get there until the rain started.

Regardless, it all worked out and the teams played today. If anyone was hurt by the delay it will be Lipscomb who will lose a pitcher until Thursday if they are still playing.

Note to Lipscomb, Please plan you Bacculauate Service on Sunday like everyone else. So you can have people there to pull the tarp when you need too. Unlike Lipscomb, Lexington and Jackson schedule the graduation around the 135 other students that dont play baseball or softball. We have a school system not a school. Just a thought, Get some lights and this will not be a problem. Just a note, Get some parents to miss Bacculauate and pull your tarp. Your coach said game would be played at 2pm on friday. Thunderstorm or not, BE READY. I hope you win all you can, because someday this will come back to get you. Sorry about your pitcher, After reading this maybe he won't have to throw.

  14. There were no cooler heads. Coach Growe said we cannot play if we dont start before 2:00. Coach Smith said our kids will not be ready until 2:00. Had a clap of lightning and a few sprinkles and Jackson South Side headed for the Bus.

Thats what I heard also. But it was not Coach Growe. It was the DL AD who was standing out there with a lightning detector and found that lightning was 20 or so miles away.He then told everyone to leave the field. Did this twice. Why don't you guys have a tarp? Oh thats right you do, but not enough people to put it on from what I saw. Coach Growe most likely did say if we dont start by 2pm we have to go. Graduation was at 7pm Friday night. Theses kids had family and friends counting on them to be there, and Coach Growe being the class act that he is, was going to do everything in his power to have those kids back. DL coach is also a class act let these two coaches handle this. Here something you can do. Remember look at the radar, call all the people you will need to pull the tarp, have them be at the field, and PULL THE TARP BEFORE IT STARTS RAINING not after. lol Hope this game gets played. Two great schools, Two great coaches, ONE BIG GAME.

  15. dont know why Jackson South Side came to Lipscomb today, Coach was not interested in playing at all. At 1:10 coach was already to leave. Why do you drive about 2 hours to try to work a game in a 2 hour window. Waste of money and time for all involved.

If South Side is a no show today DL calls forfit, Game over. Coach Growe has been coaching for over 20 years. If he did not have to drive to DL today he would not have. For some reason, none of us know, He HAD to drive there today. Or maybe cooler heads got together and said we will play the game tomorrow so the boys can grad. with thier class. Either way game tomorrow 3pm
