  1. If you think that a few players is going to decide the fate of a game then it appears to me that you haven't been watching football for too long of a time... Besides that point, maryville only has 3 players starting from other schools... The most recent being Stephen Childs from Smyrna, this year being his first... Adam Parnell from Heritage as a freshman, and Jon Lawhon William Blount and started playin in red and black as a sophomore... So good luck trying to find some new excuses... Maybe next time you can say that we "counterfeit" players...
  2. Ron, i hope you understood what i was tryin to say in my post earlier...
  3. Rebels... student section...just watch, you'll understand...
  4. Maryville 59 Halls 6 - Details are not really needed....
  5. Ron, do you honestly think that with this "noble" post you will be able to slay the "dragon" (trash talk)... Trash talk is what creates fans, it creates rivalries... If every athlete, every coach, and most imortantly every fan didn't boast their team from time to time, what would we have in sports today?? Every player willing to except defeat, and embrace their opponent?? Personally, i would absolutely hate if that were to happen. In most sports, take High school football, one team is crowned state champions, but to win that title they must defeat another great team. Without that other team being furious of their loss, without their fans being furious at the other team for defeating their own, where would that fire buring within come from? Sure there is a thrill for receiving that golden ball, or that glorious ring(I have a few), but I can tell you that none of those prizes drive the sole on.. It's that thrill of defeating your opponent and sending them home, it's the inner desire to compete and destroy your opponent. But every time you win, your opponent gets angrier, their fans get more steamed up, eventually resulting in a broad assortment of pranks, trash talk, and one heck of a game and season... Without trash talk where would those thrilling games we watch every friday night be?? Jerry Thompson says every year to all the classes, "Where would we be if we couldn't play Heritage, or Alcoa, or WB." We would be playing ourselves...how fun - But the real question is "what type of competition would we have if we just admired and respected their abilities...?" Their would be no upsets, no last second greats, none of this, without the guys "with the helmet on" cheering their teams on or screaming insults across the field... No fans = No Games So I solute the trash talker.... Trash talk away....
  6. I'm a maryville fan and i have something to say about it...You're right tho, it is a good thing this game wasn't a regular season game because we would have one in the loss column. It's also a good thing for coach quarles because if it had been a regular season game they might be wondering why on earth would he take the starters out after 2 series, and he might be out of the job. Not to mention.... they only won by 3 points. I suggest that dragon get his story straight before he runs his mouth... Rebs are the best team in class 4A, in all of tennessee...
  7. Did this guy just pick halls to win?? If this wasn't a joke, i suggest that you stay away from the game friday, it might be hard for you to handle... You honestly think halls has the talent edge on maryville?? Well i guess i must have missed the part about halls being state contenders this year... If that's the truth, they've got everyone else fooled... News flash, if maryville plays their hearts out, halls wont come out of the locker room at the half...
  8. There have been some great teams in the past years, it's shame i haven't been around as long as some people to see them all. However, one player i think some people might be leaving out is Andy Ellis, I Remember when i was little watching him play i think in the class of 95' thinking he was a great one.
  9. Confederate flags flying, camo-carhart-or jean overalls, everyone 50 rows back on their feet, not an empty seat, silly string, confetti, air horns, huge signs, not to mention everyone driving to the games with their confederate flags flying from their truck, and then tailgating in "C" parking lot. Staying till the end even when the score is ridiculous....praying with the team after the game, then going to hooters for a victory feast... An Ordinary Friday in the Life of a Rebel Fan 3 Confederate flags... $45 camo overalls.... $77 game ticket....$5 silly string...$2 confetti.... free air horns (big one).... $12 gas... depends on home or away food before game... $5 hooters.... either $4.62 or $11.77 Being a part of the best team in the state.... Priceless
  10. alcoa 06... you put a lot of energy and time into that "demoralizing" response, however it seems apparent that you still failed to weaken rebel raider, matt kyle, or this guy's spirit... while you mock his physical ability about being able to cover duck, hawk, or whatever bird he is named after, maybe that is the very reason matt quit the team because he knew he wud serve better to it in the stands. It seems he's gotten in the minds of a few players and fans at other schools, most evidently you. So it seems from this angle he's the one winning the battle...maybe you oughta worry bout somethin else besides what he's posting... It's you who is getting "upset" off about it, looks to me like he couldn't care less of thoughts or opinions
  11. i'd vote that kid with the helmet on most school spirited~ given the opportunity i might pay for a helmet like that, too.
  12. 2002 would be my pick... great backfield, great receivers, great lines, great secondary's, great backers, the only questionmark was the quarterback, and Cade came through in the clutch...
  13. I thought we were discussing the game? Not if it should be on tv or not...for all those who wish it was on tv....drive out and see it, i guarantee it'll be much better there than on the screen...Maryville all the way~
  14. Anyone who has ever been to Maryville, or played them...can tell you that the attendance is always the same wether the game be at home or in murphreesboro...The Rebels have this off/field battle won easily as well...
  15. Maryville won...that's all there is to it~ better luck next year
  16. Um....not much to say after rebelraider's response, that about sums it up. Alcoa runs their mouth for about year, gets whipped...and that's bout it, i guess they can start talking about next year tomorrow...
  17. Rebelron, i applaud you, it's about time you joined the rest of us in saying that these "maryville haters" are nothing but baby's who have nothing better to do. All these fans, or anti-fans need to find something better to do, because cheering for their teams or hating maryville isn't working for them.
  18. Listen to this guy, Flashy, 2000? that was 4 years ago, there aren't even any more people from those teams around... Quit livin in the past, however if you want to relive the past i might remind you of a certain team winning a few state championships...but that's all said and done for now, what there is to talk about is the game in august, that will feature alcoa's 2 players, and maryville's team... However that game sort of is like the past... We do know the winner... (Maryville)
  19. Fitzgerald, will be the force behind the rebels
  20. Alcoa did make it as far as maryville did in the playoffs... And no, alcoa didn't cry or make excuses, because when you get beat as badly as Alcoa did, there really are no need for excuses or tears. But aside from that matter considering it was last year... The year is new, and alcoa fans should take advantage of these short months that they have left to talk trash of the incredible win they will have over maryville, because after that time has past, they'll be back to the normal routine, "maryville's a bigger school" So go on alcoa, talk it up... Once you all step on the field, talking wont help anymore..
  21. I'll bet maryville has many studs like rebelraider getting huge in the weight room...We need more people to show his type of dedication...
  22. Why would cade not have the starting role in a position he has had for 3 years and lost only one game. The rebels have faith in cade and he has given us more reason to give him faith with every game. Why stop what works? If Clausen were to come to maryville (which he's not) and he's so talented, I'm sure GQ could find another spot where he might help the rebels get back to the top next year.
  23. Lucas Wall has exceptional speed and that will most definitley be his greatest asset. His arm is okay but not exceptional under any circumstance. He may have trouble seeing his receivers if he stays in the pocket long but I dont think he'll stay there long. Throwing on the run may be when most of his completions occur. He will add for some excitement at WB this year.
  24. Obviously we do respect our opponets. Maryville teams spend countless hours as a team and on their own time watching film and knowing the other teams weaknesses and strengths. We respect our opponets and thus it leads us to victory. It seems to me that Alcoa fans are the ones who need to gain that respect for us, because you would think that after they lose it might teach them a lesson, but it still hasn't. When they win, they can brag, talk whatever they want to, until then, they need to keep it to themselves and give us the respect that is due.
