  1. IMO, i think that this game is going to come down to whoever can control the ball and keep their offense on the field. Maryville has been able to throw the ball considerately well this year, but this Melrose defense has a much faster secondary than any Maryville's seen all year. I think this one will come down to which team can keep their offense on the field. This is why Maryville is going to bring home the golden ball once again; though the passing game is week in certain area's for each of the two QB's Maryville still has more of a passing game than Melrose does. I'd look for Tyler Maples to make something big out of a short-intermediate pass. And Maryville has 2 great backs opposed to Melrose's one. Though I would expect to see Melrose score one on the ground. But Coach Gaylor's seen better backs than Cooper years before with less talent on the field than he has now... people like Gerald Riggs... I wouldn't expect Cooper to have that great of a day on the ground. I'd say Maryville wins this one 14-10
  2. Melrose goes down in this one in the first half... Low scoring game but only because the cold takes it's toll on both teams running games. Maryville's passing game will be rendered short however, due to the speed of Melrose's secondary. I see Maryville winning this one 21 - 7
  3. Mo-west... they finally got that undefeated regular season after maryville was removed from their schedule this year.. I'd like to take this time to give them a little congrats on that, they've been waiting a long time. But the regular season has been and gone and the post-season is almost to it's conclusion. I think the only hope that mowest has this coming friday/saturday is to hold on to the football. Their only prayer is to control the clock and try to get 1st downs on the ground and keep maryville's offense off the field. However, that might happen for a drive or two, but not the entire game. Maryville's defense is much faster than the mowest backs and the quote "The bigger they are the harder they fall" will certainly come into play. Maryville will live up to their reputation and "swarm" to the ball to bring down the backs of mowest. I would bet mowest is praying for another hurricane but i dont even think rita can help them enough in this one. Maryville will only lose this one if they do it to themselves. Maryville 35 Mo West 14
  4. I've not heard much about West this year, do they even have a chance at putting points on the board??
  5. Hahaha, took me awhile to find this posts this afternoon, I didn't know that the other got deleted.... wonder who caused that.... oh well, anyways, I've got a serious post for ya~ Maryville wins this one big, and the reason for it is that Central thinks they have the advantage. Central is going to come into this one confident for the first time in the past 4 years. Over confident, I dont believe they will be as prepared as year's pasted and they really need to be. Coach Quarles will exploit all those players going both ways, and I would be surprised if Gaston touches a kick return all night. He is extremely dangerous in the open field, but i'm sure Taka will keep the ball in the endzone all night. Maryville is to solid all the way around, central's offensive line is going to be domniated and force Helton out of the pocket only this D line is much similiar to the 2002 D line. They've got speed on the ends, and a HUGE force in the middle. Maryville wins this one big... MHS 42 CHS 7
  6. Douglas is nothing less than a God among men on the field.. He towers over everyone when he's out there, and when he is the ball is coming his way... He will make a great contribution to this team this and upcoming years...
  7. well junkie you will be happy to hear that maryville is adding the New England Patriots to there schedule... Maryville players and coaches have nothing to do with who they play, but for the opponents they do play, they destroy, maybe once in a blue moon they get beat but they cant help that all their opponents stink. It's not like we lose to much...
  8. Is this guy serious?? Did he just say that in 2000 alcoa had a better coaching staff then maryville?? I'm sorry but were you hit in the face with a shovel last night because something just isn't clicking right in your head if that's what you think... That was the year that all alcoa fans love to dream off because they won a game against a maryville team that had almost half of their starters suspsended... not just Wilkes. You know what buddy, you go praise the signed poster of Meadows in your bedroom if that's what you want to worship... The guy that just happened to be coaching when Alcoa had one enormous fluke. But last time I checked that was 5 years ago! And not to mention Maryville won state that year, and the next, and the next, and then again in 2004. I hear there will be a meeting at the Duck Pond tomorrow to worship the great coach meadows! And for all of us who live in reality.. if maryville gets up by enough at half time maybe we can catch WB's next loss!
  9. Whoever this guy is that thinks he needs to get on this site and give us a morality lesson needs to take a better look at the "team" (if that's what you wish to call the apparently 1 man team without their one man) because I was at the the jamboree and the maryville alcoa game. Alcoa off and more importanly on the field acts like nothing but disrespectful idiots. At the jamboree they have their whole team jumping around because Fiegler wins a punt competition. Dont get on here and criticize maryville because there are a few of us who wont put up with alcoa's loud mouths! But not to take all their credit away, because they do have some D1 talent out there. Did anyone else see the display of punting talent on the Alcoa side? They'll be in trouble next year; who will punt?!
  10. Yes yes yes, I had to come back for this one.... and Man am i glad i did! I haven't had that much fan since... oh yeah the last time we beat Alcoa. I may be maryville alumni now but whipping alcoa still feels the same! I'm glad our 600th win was against Alcoa and i'm sure every Alcoa player, fan, coach.. you name it will be makin excuses for this one for years to come. But the bottom line is that While they make excuses, maryville celebrates victory, good luck on another 14- 1 season alcoa. And yeah Warren would have made a difference on the field, but i guess he'll never get to find out, but I hope they like that "1" in there record, because as long as Maryville's on the schedule, dat's it and dat's all....
  11. Melrose undoubtably has a good defense... as Maryville also undoubtably has a great offense.. Those two factors seem to be well known between both sides... However, the point that everyone is seeming to miss, is that Maryville also has a good defense, and Melrose has a horrible offense, the deciding factor in these games will be Melrose offense vs. Maryville's D.. This will lead Maryville to a 31 -13 victory
  12. Just curious... but how does Melrose expect to put up 20 or 30 points when they've only been capable of that once during the play offs... Their other scores of 14-12, 13-7, and 20-14 against teams that aren't ranked 1st in the state and have been year round... So I find it hard to believe that Maryville will allow 20 or 30 points to a team that has only managed to get above 30 this entire playoffs... Maryville wins this one 35-13
  13. I will be there for the Alcoa, Fulton, and Maryville Games.. East TN!!!
  14. i wasn't comparing the two players, i was using two well known examples to represent the two players being discussed on a proportional level
  15. Each quarterback serves their purpose, but put up impressive numbers, both find a way to reach the endzone... but time has shown that a true quarterback that can impressively throw the ball... without getting hit every play from running stays at the position longer... a great example is the Colts and Falcons... The Falcons are 9-2 with a very versatile QB, and the Colts are 7-3 with a quarterback who runs the offense to perfection and throws the ball extremely well... The biggest difference between the Colts and the Rebs (besides the skill level) is the defense... If the Colts had a defense of proportion to Maryville's in 4A... They would be undefeated as well... Manning has also completed his 6 seasons at QB while as we all know vick Missed the majority of the Falcons season last year causing it to be ruined... To Cade's running statistics... He has one of if not the best line in the state and plenty of weapns to choose from, he really doesn't need to run and when he has needed to, he's done it quite well.. he runs a 4.7, not to bad for a QB.. I'd take the true QB over the running style...
