  1. Gallatin played a great game Friday night - congrats to you guys. Mercy should've been called in the 1st quarter. Looks like Beech didn't show up. Sad to see, particulary for the seniors. I personally liked the blue helmets myself, not sure what prompted the switch. Good luck to the Green Wave - make all of Sumner County proud.
  2. Such a tragic loss - prayers and deepest sympathy from Sumner County and Beech.
  3. Amen Redbaron - How many coaches do you know that would've kept out their main character?
  4. I admire Coach Aric for sticking to his guns with Sheffield. He's too talented to be screwing up his potential college playing time. You'll see Beech Friday night giving everything they've got. One thing I will say for the players, they've never given up despite everything they've been through.

    Next Year

    Beech will be better.
  6. You're looking at juniors and sophomores for the most part. Gibbs is a junior - small, but producing the most for Beech. Seniors - leadershipwise, you've got Stafford (80), another Meadows (86), Melton (70), Rice (7), King (?). TEs are seniors. Punter's a senior, QB's a senior; . You've got 5-6 sophomores in the mix - Cowan, Grizzard, Stilgenbower, Marlow and a couple others. Formations they're running - things apparently change from one week to the next these days. No telling what will be seen Friday night. Hope it's at least a good game.
  7. I read about him too. Incredible leg and accuracy. Actually, talking about Beech's kid. Not much about him (or anyone else for that matter). Just saw some numbers on him.
  8. Gtowner - I agree - don't count Beech out by any means. Beech has nothing to lose. Gallatin's got too much on the line - pressure's on them. Like I've said all season, Beech is playing with heart. By the way, who's this punter kid and where did he come from? I know he's a senior - just noticed some numbers in the paper this weekend. I know the freshman kicker is good, but understood he missed a field goal Friday night again. Stage fright?
  9. Beech cannot afford ANY injuries. Hate to hear that about King. If Beech doesn't do something about the QB problem, you'll see Gallatin playing their 8th graders by the 3rd quarter. I understand Beech was ahead at halftime against Glencliff Friday night, then pretty much handed the game over to them in the second half.
  10. Gwave1 - If Beech doesn't shift QBs, Beech doesn't stand a chance against Gallatin. I can't count them completely out, but from what I understanding what happened against Glencliff Friday night - Beech pretty much handed the game over to them.
  11. There wasn't any reason for it at Beech either - just cost Beech many gallons of paint to fix their autographs before game time - basically had to repaint the stadium.
  12. Gwave1 - Did you guys have any "artwork" anywhere on your facilities last night? HL seem to enjoy sending out "calling cards" prior to game night.
  13. White House is sure making SC proud, even the neighbors down the road. Keep it up!
  14. Gwave1 and wavemachine - I agree with you both. Somehow it seems that Gallatin and Beech are struggling with some of the very same issues you have mentioned as well as I. Beech has a small class of seniors. Hendersonville has 20 seniors. I don't care what other coaches say, but replacing a senior with a sophomore with the same level of athletic ability slowing eats at the morale of a team.
  15. Beech has ya beat I'm afraid - averaging 2-3 interceptions per game.
  16. Beech has got a shot at this one. I think you'll see the sophomore QB with more playing time in this game.
  17. If any of you know anything about Beech's feeder program, you might have a better understanding of why it takes an extended period of time to prepare players for battle. Ask any player or parent what they thought about their kid when he was at the feeder school and they'll tell you more negative things than positive. But there's nothing that's gonna be done to remedy the matter anytime soon. You basically deal with it and look forward to playing in high school, but with the knowledge that you'll be starting over from scratch. That's 2 years everyone else has a jump on Beech.
  18. EZbeinggreen - you have a point there. I'm sure the players get tired of coming to school on Monday after they've been beaten to death on Friday night and hearing from their peers about how bad they are. For the most part, Beech has had good crowds at the game this year despite their record. Frustration may be taking a toll. Beech could not afford any injuries or players breaking the rules this year at all - there was no space for that. Beech looked good in the spring.
  19. Well now, sounds like Beech isn't the only SC team having problems these days. Sawyer is definitely a gift to Hville. He continues to perform better each week. Anybody confirm whether Blanton has a dislocated shoulder? I agree that McFarland needs to be utilized back in the QB spot. Are there internal problems between Gallatin players causing instability in the ranks? Hville is always slow to start, but gains momentum as the season progresses. Using that formula, Hville EEKS out the win.
  20. Is there an injury report for Papa John? If not, Papa pulls out the win here - should be a great game.
  21. I think it's usually big brother who paves the way for little brother to be recognized a bit more. Most times, little brother is a bit better because he's had to work twice as hard to keep up with big brother and his buddies.
  22. It did take a hit from Station Camp and it's going to take some time to recover, but they're gonna be okay. Coaching staff is fine. It's tough when you're out there week after week playing against teams ranked as high as they are in the state - 4A and 5A - then trying to set up a defense against kids nationally ranked in the running department - they call it the perfect storm. Greenbrier has had its days when it didn't have as great of a program as it does now. Beech has also had better as well. I'm not so sure that moving down to 4A will benefit Beech. It's hard weighing the pros and cons of that, but I guess they'll find that out and soon.
  23. I wouldn't say it's that bad. Beech has got some young guys coming up who will have playing experience. The freshman team has been doing pretty well. The problem with Beech and I'm sure at other schools, is that you've got too many athletes in the stands not playing football. Why? My theory is programs have gotten to the point where each sport doesn't want to "share" the athletes. Each program wants their athlete to stay in "their" sport year-round. When they get to their senior year, they're burnt out. Since the split to Station Camp, you cut out a lot of football players to the program, as well as the other sports. Football was impacted the most. Beech cannot afford to horde athletes into only one sport. Ask any parent who's got a kid playing more than one sport, and they'll tell you it's extremely difficult to do. You can pretty much rule out a 3-sport athlete anymore. The coaching staff has gotten better at Beech about sharing athletes, but I think there's still a little room for improvement there. I also believe that in the past few years, the sports at Beech, as well as other schools, have lost the "bide your time" concept. How many players starting as freshmen have been told to "wait - your time will come" or "you gotta pay your dues", only to find that when you've done this, your time has come only to find that your ship has already sailed. I've heard myself from coaches with the phrase "if I've got a sophomore or junior who's equally as good as a senior, then I'm going to play them." What do you think the kid thinks? He's done. Somewhere down the road, Beech has got to "fatten and grow" bigger players. The corn in Shackle Island must be "lo-cal".
