  1. Maplewood, Riverdale, Hillsboro, Blackman maybe? They usually field some very talented teams.
  2. PLease, believe me. I'm not trying to disrespect anyone in any way but ATHLETES are born athletic. True, you can a turn a 5 flat guy into a 4.7 and increase his vertical from a 19 to around a 30 in a couple or three years. The difference is, ATHLETES start at 4.7 with a 30 inch vertical. The ones of those who are willing to work are the ones who get to 4.5s, 4.4s, 4.3s with 40 inch verticals. This is while they are still in high school and growing and developing. The hardest working guy doesn't always win. The smartest guy doesn't always win. The hardest working, smartest, more athletic, bigger, faster, stronger guy on the better team with better players around him - that guy usually wins. It's also true that CC, nor most other schools, play many teams like the Alcoas, Fultons, Catholics, Hillsboros, Milans. I'm simply saying that's what sets them apart. You can't alter a guy's genetics. 6'4", 335 is just what it is. Fast guys are fast. Big, powerful guys are big and powerful. You can work the others 'til you are blue in the face but 5.0 isn't ever gonna run a 4.3 and 5'10", 215 isn't turning into 6'4", 335. I don't care how you slice it.
  3. Owls will be scrimmaging Oneida in the spring at Tech. Anybody know anything about them?
  4. The only difference between Alcoa and CC is the money? Is this some kind of joke? You must be kidding right?
  5. I may have just been missing out all these years but I have yet to hear of a Middle School State Playoffs system. My bad!
  6. Ahhh. . . I see. Yeah, you right. This is the football board last I checked. Lol!!
  7. I'm sure he's talking about Cannon County with the mentioning of Woodbury. They just fired their head coach Friday morning. They are in our region so we try and keep up with them.
  8. What's that in reference to?
  9. LOL. I bet that was a shocker. The TSSAA didn't know what they were talking about.
  10. No doubt that these teams have all had more talent than SC. The most talented doesn't always win though.
  11. Barely lost the Freshman District Championship game? You gotta be kidding me right?
  12. Will be nice to be getting the basketball players in for workouts now I'm sure.
  13. Didn't know we had Lane Kiffin on the boards with us. LOL! Why would you suggest that people are scared? What lifts are you wanting to do in this power lifting meet?
  14. Was just wondering if any of you guys were using resistance bands and what some of your most productive workouts are regardless of equipment used. Thanks. We don't have a track team but we are always trying to learn how tho make the players we do have faster. Any help or suggestion won't go unnoticed and will be appreciated.
  15. I just like the competition period. Whether its in the weightroom or on the field didn't matter. It was a chance to beat them. Plus, I have seen it be a motivational boost for kids in there tending to get complacent.
  16. Well balanced meals are the key IMO. Of course you need a healthy supply of protein. I for one and am big on carbs as well. I feel like carb loading is vital two days before a competition. And, of course, fruits and vegetables need to be there just the same. I'm quite sure you already knew this though. . . I was wondering if you incorporate any isometrics into your workouts.
  17. I totally agree. Lots of confidence can be found in the weight room!
  18. Or you can just google it and get tons and tons of varying ideas, all of which are safe and fairly easy to incorporate. I was wondering though, how are you gonna pull off the diet thing? It is a major issue with lots of high school kids. However, I don't see you going home with these kids or buying their daily meals for them. . .
  19. Well. . . if you win you continue to build confidence in your players and you also can get in the heads a little bit of your opponents, especially if you dominate them.
  20. I promise you there was animosity on last year's team. That's all I'm gonna say about it. It happens. And you are correct. . . if you have true leaders those things take care of themselves. The 2004 team had the best leaders we have fielded in a long time. I would like to see that type of team again. I would like to see everyone pulling for each other, everyone picking somebody up when they make a mistake. No need for a teammate to criticize. The coaches do enough of that. It's their job to make the corrections, not the players'. Now, I'm not saying the coaches don't do their job. I'm only saying I would like to see the players pulling for each other more and not getting down on their teammates.
  21. I can tell you one thing they don't need- a bunch of "hype" from a "vocal" leader. They need guys who are willing to sacrifice their bodies every single play for the cause of the team. They need some of those sophomores and juniors to keep stepping up and adding much needed depth. They need to come together as a team without the negative animosity. They need leaders who will do these things by example. "Don't talk about it, be about it". I've seen those shirts they wear and they need to take those words to heart. Right now their job is to get their bodies stronger, faster, and more explosive. They better be busting their tales to do just that!
  22. How about Michelle Piper from Smith County? Anyone heard anything on how she is progressing?
  23. It is kinda tough with all the glare coming off of that region championship trophy. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
