  1. Hoya, why are you telling all our secrets!!! I'm just glad that CAK got out of their "funk" and started playing like I know they can! Good luck Lady Warriors!

mjuhb... how in the world are you so informed all over the state?! Also, your posts and rankings are very well thought out, which means you put a WHOLE lot of time into it... and I used to think that I was a Coach T addict! Great stuff man! Keep it up. I would be curious to know what you do. Do you go to most of the games, or do you have a lot of contacts? And if you want to remain "mysterious" I completely understand! Keep up the good work!
  3. CAK is ahead of Kingston with 2 minutes left 3-0. I was not at the game, so I can't judge details... if anyone was there, please inform.
  4. I did not see the Oneida game, but I did see the Catholic game. Catholic has 2 outstanding forwards who are killer on free kicks, and have great shots. They worked the ball well, and seemed to have a good game plan. I personally think they are one of the top teams in the region.
  5. CAK lost that game. Not sure if they were public or private... Does that "count" since it is out of state? Just curious.
  6. It goes by coaches recommendations from around the state. I am not sure who is involved from the girl's side.
  7. If you had to make a recipe stating the top five most important traits, what would they be? Is it all in the coaching, all in the talent? How much is in the teams "bonding"? If I had to make my own mix, I would say idealy Team bonding or togetherness: A lot of teams neglect getting their teams to get a long together. Less talented teams can beat a more talented, if you have everyone backing each other up. Having an tremendously talented player getting along with the least talented is a hard thing to do, but vital for success. In my opinion, this is the most important. Passion: How badly do you want to win? What cost are you willing to pay? Are you running and training when others are not? Do you leave "it" on the field when the 80 minutes are up? Talent: Obviously, you need to be able to get the ball to do what you want. Game plan: Your team needs to perfect its own playing style. This can change from year to year (depending on the team you have) but you need to have your own plan. Note: If it is not working, don't be too stubborn to change it! Too many teams stick with what was successful LAST year. Playing with class: This is another most often neglected, and also the hardest to maintain and enforce. Anyone can win, but in my mind, a true champion does it with class. Don't run up the score, congratulate the other team for good play, play hard, but if you knock someone down, give them a hand up afterwards. This is not a sign of weakness, but of strength. (A lot of people would dissagree) Note... Coaching: Is not in my top 5 but is vital for the success of implimenting the top 5. It can also impact more than any if abused. Can be over or under rated. Should be the driving factor BEHIND the scene... the game is about the players. He or she sets the example of how a player should act. I would be curios to know your opinions. Each coach has his or her different style. Also, what works for you or your team, may not work for mine, or vice versa. I don't think there is a perfect mix... so feel free to dissagree!
  8. I am with CAK. Thanks for the explanation... I was talking with the Catholic soccer coach, and what is ironic, is that one of the reasons that Catholic went Div 1, was so that they would not have to travel as much, but now, with our new district, they are almost going as far as they were when they were in Div 2. Also, does it seem like more of the private schools were grouped together in the new districts? I am not trying to stir anything up, just curious. It seems that way with soccer, at least.
  9. While I think that is partially correct, our football team plays different teams than we do... Our football does not play Catholic, for example, or some other of our district teams. I think there is a different classification for football than there is for the rest of the sports. I just want to know how they came up with them.
  10. After the multiplier, the TSSAA made new districts. Our division didn't change (since in soccer, there is a combined A/AA division) but our district did. Does anyone know how they come up with them? For example, we used to be in a district with Alcoa, A.E., Gibbs... etc which were very close. Now we are in a new district with Oneida, Scott County and Anderson County which are up to an hour away. What do they base it on?
  11. Yes. It is true... it was 4-2 at halftime. (West in the lead).
  12. I would agree, but you are talking about college football (big time college football) who have a say in who their players are. Most of the schools who are getting blown out are not a "Notre Dame".
  13. Well, there is running up the score, and there is RUNNING UP THE SCORE. What I mean by that, is that for some teams, running up the score is 8-10 goals, but I have seen some schools put up 15-20. In the guy's league, I have seen up to 26! As far as boosting your stats, the prep xtra always lists the leading scorers, and sometimes you will have someone on there who has a bunch of goals... but they will score them 4 or 5 at a time against really weak teams. Give me a player that can score one goal on a top quality team, rather than someone who can score many on a poor team. A good college coach will look not only at how many they score, but on who they score against.
  14. Man, CCS is a freight train!!! What a powerhouse! What about a Notre Dame CCS State Final (they could meet up)? Congrats CCS. Wish I could see you play.
  15. mjuhb, you got WAAAY too much time on your hands! Good job man! I also like your poll. Well thought out, and pretty accurate. Are you involved with any program, or just an overall fan?
  16. BigReno, I am stating that DB is involved in the site and its voting. Nothing conspiratorial, just that they helped with its development.
  17. On the latest NSCAA poll, both Father Ryan and Collierville have gotten National Rankings. F.R. is ranked 8th nationally, while Collierville is ranked 22nd. This is all divisions. Well done!
  18. The NSCAA has a poll that is voted on by other coaches from around the region. (But this is a regional and national poll). All I know for the Eurosport is that DB is involved somehow, but I am not sure of other coaches that vote. http://www.nscaa.com/rankings/hs/index_E.html NSCAA poll. Tennessee is in region 4 for girls.
  19. Wow... I thought it would be closer than that. Looks like Seymore is taking that district with some force. Congrats, Seymour. Gscalf, I assume you are coaching them. I believe I know your dad... he is a good man. Good luck with the rest of your season.
  20. I would LOVE to know what they based the districts on. It is not geography or size...
  21. I think your vote is biased mtnman! BUT... I go with CCS as well. I would really like to see CAK get their act together, but until they do, I will say Catholic and CCS in the finals. Sorry Hoya, I think CCS might have it, but only by 1.
  22. The results are not posted yet on our local site. Anyone know anything?
  23. Players are not getting injured heading the ball. The injuries occur when they head other players. Hoya brings up a good point that I have not thought about. As usual, wise beyond his years!

  25. Because those posts, while bringing up valid points, tend to cause more problems than they solve. I think that a Smyrna player would have a hard time reading or responding to those posts. I also am one of the moderators that get the "reports" or complaints, and I have received more on this thread than any other. As far as Macmom, I do think she owes an apology to scorpionking. Whether she does that or not, is another issue. Guessing by her screenname, I would assume that is a mother of a smyrna player, who has had a bad experience with a former coach. I hope that they can work out the problems. It just seems that you guys are kicking a dead horse, and not getting a whole lot of answers. I could be wrong (it happens more often that one would like). We'll see where it goes.
