  1. There is no way that a high school coach is making 6 figures and it definitely isnt happening at CAK. I had also heard that rumor and just like G, I laughed. I do think that a tuition break for teacher/coaches kids is an attractive bonus for private schools but (correct me if I am wrong G) I dont think that CAK extends that offer anymore. My wife is a special ed teacher and she also got certified in regular ed so that if we wanted to send our children to CAK that we could take advantage of the tuition break. I am pretty sure that we were told that CAK no longer does that. I think that Collierville might be a test for CAK and Maryville might be one as well I just dont see CAK losing either of those games but there is a reason why they play the games on the field and not message boards.
  2. How did I know that once I put the word "money" in my post that it would come to the topic of CAK paying boat loads of money for their coaches. I have posted on this before when CAK hired Coach Pharr, CAK does not pay their coaches a huge salary. I would say that a 4-5 year teacher at a public school makes more than 95% of the teachers and coaches at CAK. What makes CAK an attractive school for coaches is that some retire from public schools and collect a retirement check from them and a check from CAK. For example, Darden, Young, and Cowan. Another thing is that there are parents at CAK that will donate the money to make sure that the coaches get what they need for their programs. For example, dirt, grass seed, equipment etc.... it has always been that way over there. I will tell you one thing though, no one works harder on improving their facilities than Tommy Pharr. You can ask anyone that has ever played for him. So to make my point, CAK does not write blank checks to get people to come and coach their sports teams. Yes, coaches do get paid but not nearly enought to put up with the parents that are trying to relive their childhood through their kids.
  3. That is where coaching comes into play. Do you keep playing your top 14-15 players and win 6-0 and risk injury or do you play 17-20 players and get everyone experience but risk a loss or lose the chemistry that you already have created. There has to be a happy medium somewhere and that is where the coach earns his/her money.
  4. After looking over CAK's schedule, I dont see them losing a regular season game. I am not saying that they won't lose but it looks like their schedule was a whole lot more challanging the first few weeks of the season versus what they have left to play. I know that they have a young defense and that these are still high school girls but it looks like they could play alot of players and get everyone some experience for tournament time.
  5. While Kent might be a GOOd coach, he is not a GREAT coach. Tommy Pharr is by far the best option for any high school in the state maybe even the south. With Pharr going to CAK they now have atleast 11 state championships for Spring boys sports.
  6. What time does the game start??
  7. Please use some form of grammar when you post on here. A complete sentence or two wouldnt hurt either. You are still wrong the best player in the state is Kyle Waldrop hands down.
  8. "Real Deal" I think not. Just because he is quick to second and he can throw it back to his pitcher faster than the pitcher throws it to him doenst mean anything. Kirkland can't hit good pitching. He didn't last year against Craig Cobb and he hasn't hit well against Farragut this year. I would say that Farragut has the best pitching in the state and if he can't hit their pitching then he is going to struggle at the next level because everyone is atleast as good as Farraguts starting rotation.
  9. I keep reading this kids name in the paper and again today I see that he hit his 3rd Grand slam of the year last night. Does anyone know more about him?
  10. I happen to know everyone on the Farragut team so MY team is still playing and would pretty much garauntee that they play alot longer than S-D.
  11. All those great pitchers and all that offense (and parents and fans with no class) only to give up 9 homeruns and only score 4 runs. Sounds like it might be more than the other teams uniforms. Does anyone hear that.......... yup OVER-RATED.
  12. Farragut has already lost their game for the year, and with Kyle pitching they aren't going to lose tonight. Another 4 1/2 inning game as usual at Farragut.
  13. Kyle hands down. Whoever thinks that he doesn't have power should come and watch batting practice where he out homered McKenry last year left handed. Another example would be the homerun that he hit in one of the first games of the season that went over the 340 sign and 5 lanes of traffic into the Kroger parking lot at Farragut. Ask the centerfielder for Bearden how much power he has, it isnt fun ducking a ball that is hit that hard right at you. It doesn't hurt that he hasn't given up an earned run this year either.
  14. I agree with Iamright Coach Tommy Pharr is the best coach hands down. So the rest of you can fight over 2nd.
  15. If anyone thinks that Kyle Waldrop is not the best player in the state then they need to go to the lovely ball park at Farragut and watch 5 innings of dominance.
  16. I am taking Delmonico or Ryan Cooper form CAK over both of the other two.
