Wow... sorry (and SHOCKED) to see that Wilson Central went down. Think they have a very talented bunch of kids and well-run program
Congrats to them on a great season!
As to the rest of the field remaining, I think it's Cleveland this year.
-
I believe Wilson Central is peaking at the right team and obviously, they have the horses to win the whole thing.
Good luck and bring it all back home to 9AAA!

Yes, it's a shame when some coaches go to the extreme because they don't want to "single out" any particular player. Maybe it's their "team" philosophy, but I think it's a motivating factor for some players to perhaps be recognized for special honors at the end of the season.
I also think coaches should be as loyal to their players as they expect players to be to them. By promoting players accomplishments they promote the whole team (and it makes the coach look good, too)

A big congratulations to LaVergne High School freshmen girls team for winning the 9AAA Freshmen tournament held at LHS this past week.
Their victory came over Beech H.S by the score of 51-47, with LaVergne's team having to play with 4 players in the last few seconds of the game after 3 players had previously fouled out.
This was a great game and a great victory for this up & coming team.......
Once again, CONGRATULATIONS
Did all 9AAA teams participate in the tournament?

So your posts are now getting to that. Are you saying that if the nation stops the Flash photography will stop. i not only will not answer tht but it makes me doubly certain that this situation will be pursued. Are you a cookville fan and were you at the game Friday nite?
Quite the contrary, I am not a fan of either team, but have been in attendance in the past 2 years at a few games where Siegel happened to be playing.
If you reread my previous posts, I say whomever took the flash photography was a poor sport (and if in an official position, exhibited poor leadership in my opinion.)
But I am also saying, it is curious for siegel to bemoan lack of sportsmanship when they allow their fans (teenage and otherwise) to be so tacky at times.
-
You just have been very quiet on the subject of siegel's crowd behaving in unsportsmanlike ways, except to use the excuse that the "Nation" as you call it, is composed of "15 to 18 year olds". Well obnoxious behavior is still obnoxious behavior and maybe your principle should stop that and maybe Cookeville's principle should stop his flash photography ( if indeed he did that).

I am a 56 year old adult that supports High School athletics. My Daughter plays for Siegel, so I have a dog in the hunt. I sat there and watched the guy point and fire the flash directly into the eyes of the shooter EVERY time the girls went to the line. He was not taking pictures of anything or anyone for a legitamate reason.
One of the Siegel parents went to a police officer standing at the end of the court and politely asked him to make the gentleman stop firing the electronic flash. The kind servant of the people turned to him and said, "You can't tell me to do anything, buddy". His daughter was going to the line when this occured., so the Siegel parent walked over and stood in front of ole Blue Coat/Red tie , sheilding the shooter from his camera. When he walked away after the shots were made, MR Class fired off several pictures of the Fathers posterior and yukked it up again.
All o f this did happen, as I witnessed it. Additionally, the tape of the game will also clearly show what a class act this guy is. I am sure he has not heard the last of it, as a matter of fact I can almost guarantee it. To justify his actions by saying the Siegel Nation(15-18 yr old kids) is obnoxious has nothing to do with a paid school administrator acting in such a manner. If this is what your community is all about and wants to accept, that is your choice, but I hope he will be banned from any and all school property in Rutherford County.

So it doesn't matter if your "15 to 18 year olds" are unsportsmanlike because.....??

The "crowd" you are referring to in this situation is a group of high school students, not parents or authority figures. This situation is different because it was an authority figure from Cookeville who was flashing the camera. This sounds like it was a poor example of leadership and sportsmanship.
Yes, and I think all "authority figures" need to behave themselves AND their crowd. (siegel included)
-
I think it's odd for Siegel to complain about sportsmanship (although this situation with the camera sounds like it was). I have observed their crowd taunting others unmercilessly in the past couple of years. Maybe it's time for all to analyze their own behavior and remember its just a game.

Like previous posts suggests, there are certain things you can do to show sportsmanship. We've had 2 freshman games this year that going in we knew how the game would play out. In the 1st half we didn't press but played man, ran the break, made steals etc. In the second half we played a foot in the lane zone, put in a no fast break rule, BUT we still tried to score in half court offense every trip. My responsibility still lies with my kids first and this is high school ball. Afterward they thanked us for not running it up. There are some out there (mt. Juliet freshman a few years ago) that will press and run even up 60-70. I wasn't at the antioch game but it seems everyone played and the second half scoring was down. Also, there was a time 15 or so years ago that Stratford was the king of Nashville in girls.
Your post jogged my memory about that Mt. Juliet freshman team from 3 years ago (I think) that ran it up on everyone. If I remember correctly, at one point that team was averaging 100 a game.
-
Obviously Mt. Juliet has lots of firepower so its easy to say "blame Stratford, because they're weak". How would you like it if you had a daughter on that team and got beat by 80 points. Bet you wouldn't like it one bit.
Not a classy move by Antioch at all.

A high school player should not have to chose between her team and AAU. They should go hand in hand. AAU does give a player a chance to play in front of college coaches. The reality is that most high school coaches do not promote their players like our former coach, Coach MacMillian, did during his tenure here at Westview. McMillian would call/write college coaches on behalf of his players and the reply letters from the coaches would come to the high school to be opened in his presence. Since there are few coaches like McMillian, AAU is very important if playing on the next level is important to that particular player.
This poster is 100% correct on the issue: if you want to play at the next level you must play AAU for the exposure.
ALSO, the player/family must be active in the process of getting their athlete's name out there (sending tapes, attending camps at colleges of interest, etc.)
Some AAU coaches I know are much more active than many high school coaches in getting players looked at.

I think you Elite are the one who needs to be specific. I believe a concussion to a certain player that was the result of an attempted undercut (dirty play) is the elbow you keep referring to. Just get over it. If you can play rough, then expect rough play to be returned. These players are young girls. If parents(coaches) don't get in the middle of it all the girls usually get past the heat of competition. I have watched Glory because my daughter has played against her. It stands to reason that if Glory is twice the size of another player and the play gets rough, then the smaller player is going to get the short end of the battle. ( my daughter has experienced this first hand) It is not fair to say a young player is dirty just because she is stronger. Be smart. If you can't take it ---don't dish it out!!!
Have never heard of this gal named Glory before but my question is how she
got to Webb from Arkansas? Just wondering about the composition of DII teams.

Kali Holtfreter of Hendersonville High School is now playing at Furman.
-
Hendersonville is very young. They lost 8 seniors last year and only have 1 senior with much playing experience right now.
They will get better as the season progresses.
-
Hendersonville runs a classy program.
So someone got a little carried away and bragged on the website? So what?
I've seen worse on these boards.
Incidentally, I didn't find it to be disrespectful, but I guess that's subject to your own interpretation and loyalties.
-
I believe Evans also played for TN Tigers prior to Pride and Mendenhall with TN Elite prior joining Team Pride.
Both are good players!! (and were standouts even way back then)
-
Sumner you are correct that replacing Mcfarlin will be a challenge. Outside of Wilson Central there aren't a great deal of good posts in this district. As far as surprises from Sumner County, The only surprises will be if H'ville wins 5 games and if Beech and Gallatin play .500 ball.
Great bulletin board material for Sumner teams, ashjan44.

Hendersonville advances again with a 3-1 win over Ravenwood tonight.
Good luck Lady Commandos!!
-
Do they teach English at Hunter's Lane?
I can't really understand the previous post for the lack of punctuation and capitalization.
-
Hendersonville wins 5-0
-
Siegel 3 Hendersonville 0
What's the story? I heard Hendersonville got banged up and was missing a few
players. Any word on that?
-
I believe their tallest starter is 6'3. Great fundamental team.
Hats off to Coach West for another great year so far!

I agree completely. Here's one fan who won't be going to Murfreesboro.
No team in the fight, just don't see the competition being as good as last year.
