Good luck to the Springfield football program. After almost 2 months and 27 pages of posts, I think this thread has deteriorated to the point of closure.

Amen to that one! My gosh.....ugly, ugly, ugly. Lets all just pray that whomever is hired, they do not seek to the levels as shown on this thread. I am like footballfan15........time to be out on this one!

I agree totally. Bashing is uncalled for and all men are created equal and have the same rights as all others. Lives change, pains happen, and people are healed. I wish all the best and this forum has quickly degenerated into a he said, she said thing, nothing good could come from it.

I heard there is a big political showdown coming up on friday at the board office.........just the rumor.

everyone must remember that there has to be a teaching position open for the coach... they may be having a hard time looking to get around that. The best coach may not have the right certification.

Good point, but one would assume that coaches with out proper teaching certification would have been ruled out at the beggining.

Seriously, doe anyone on this planet have any idea what in the world is going on in Springfield? Around town people are saying it has become a head knocking contest between the Principal, the Superintendent, and a Board Member. All wanting a different man. I am not in the school buisness, but it would seem to me like the Principal, if given the job, should be allowed to hire who he wants and if it doesnt work out so be it. Isnt it suppose to be that way? I mean if the principal were to hire a bunch of bad teachers then the Superintendent would replace him. If the Superintendent was hiring bad principals repeatedly the the board would replace the Superintendent. If there is not some sort of checks and balances then who is really running the school? A board member who had no educational background and is seeking only the best interest of themselves?

Again, this in only the talk around town, nothing is proven. I would suspect that at least some of our potential candidates are looking elsewhere for employment due to time and political silliness though........if in fact this is the case.

I dont know him or any other alleged candidates I guess. But, I know and trust Mr. Highsmith. However, the word in the community now is that Mr. Highsmith is in fact not actually making the hire. The rumor is an influential school board member is. I think we all know who, and if that is the case, this will not be a good hire no matter who it is.

I feared this early on, but was told the Mr. Highsmith alone was making the hire. I hope that is true, otherwise, things may get bad before they get better.

Wow, Ravenwood is a big time job! I dont know what is rumor and what is not, I have heard no less than 4 names that have been offered the head job here, and who knows? I suppose only Mr. Highsmith!

I just dont understand what the big secret is and what the hold up is. I know there is alot more to his than meets the eye, but now I am hearing that all the assistant coaches are leaving no matter who gets hired. Granted, that may not be a bad thing, I dont know that either, but I do know that in Springfield, people are ready for some closure.

do not prejudge an individual until you meet them and see what they can do. he was not arrested for the supposed cocaine charge. misunderstanding that was cleared. what part do you not understand? if he was charged with such an issue he would not be a teacher, coach, or an individual in our society. the man is a good guy, works hard, will build a good staff, tradition, and will work hard to make it a successful. so b52bomber, give the man a chance if he is hired and you will not regret it. did a great job at Northeast, Northwest, and at Hillsboro. if the yellow jacket nation want a winning program, then give this man a chance.

 

Hey, i once heard a president cheated on his wife with an intern. He was proven innocent, and did a great job. Hear say is that, hear say. i dont agree with starting rumors that are not true.

Actually the President you speak of was not proven innocent. He freely admitted to cheating on his wife and that was proven. He was proven to have broken no law of man, not a good analogy.

I have no idea about any of this and if he is innocent than he is innocent. I never accused, I am trying to understand why his hiring has not been announced and if he is in fact the hire, how come it has been a big secret. Good luck to you and yours. Wow........

Who are we talking about.........I am confused, one says Tharp has been offered one say Myers..........who has been if either and what is the big deal on secrecy? Is the Myers guy the one that coached in Clarksville one time? I remember that name, but dont know from where for sure.

Its like I said earlier I think. I am not sure anyone knows what is going on. Why the big secret? Must be something going on behind he scenes or something. Maybe small town politics..........who knows.

My guess would be that as long as it has taken that the job has been offered to someone or maybe several someones and has been turned down or they are giving whoever time to weight all his options. I dont have any proof of that of course, but like you said, as many jobs that have been filled that were opened after ours..........something must be going on.

I guess there is some sort of hold up. I dont know. I will say this, whoever they hire will surely have some changes in the off season program I would assume.........the longer we wait the further behind we get from our opponents for next year. I dont know but I would think there are scheduling things to be done like spring practice, scrimmages, whatever to get done. I dont know and I do realize its only a few days into January but it looks to me like the sooner the better........unless they dont have who they want yet. I'm not sure anyone knows or cares.

Ok..I will have to take your word that you know what you are talking about. If that is true, then I assume the job has been offered and we are waiting on a reply.

No one knows for sure. Nothing has been released. All has been conjecture by people on here as far as I know.
