Dude, every team in the state has alot more playing Jr. High and middle school ball...........there is always a certain % of fallout. Get a clue........Macon is a graveyard and always has been for football coaches. I doubt yall will have 5 applicants worth a crap.

Now we need to remodel the team and the coaching staff..........THAT is going to be the real chore!!!

Field is nice......other stuff is "lacking". I can tell you this.......winning will cure alot of ills in this community!!

I dont know about all that, but rumor has it that Springfield has many people interested. Question would be, who exactly is making the hire, what exactly they are looking for in a coach, and what is it gonna take to rebuild a dismal situation. I still say that someone that has no ties to springfield therefore no political connections or favors to grant would be the best situation. When will the hire be made? Has anyone said?

Ok........so it is apparent we are going to stay with the present staff as is. My question is, are we going to make an offensive or defensive changes? What is the general feeling with the state of a once proud football program now going 0,1,2 wins a year? Does anyone even care anymore?

I could not agree more. We need a weight room guy who understands that in todays time, you have no chance AT ALL without the time spent lifting. Also, I dont know if this is a problem or not, but the 2 and 3 sport athletes MUST have workouts in the offseason of football even though it is the game season for basketball or baseball. I dont know if there is a "coaches working together" problem at Springfield.......but if it is it must be fixed for ANY sport to have ANY chance of peak perfomance.

Congrats to the Red Devils! What, what a job Coach Atkins has done up there with limited resourses. No one thought 5 or 10 years ago that JB would EVER challenge for a Championship, but that just goes to show you what the right man at the right place at the right time can get done if given time!!. Wow.......now JB is recruiting on coacht.........that is a hoot!. Nevertheless........if the right hire is made, I would think that the stage of 5A football, thousands at home games, and a gold ball that has ALREADY been won at Springfield, would be more than enough to keep the kids home. I say again, the right hire is CRITICAL at this point, assuming of course that there actually is an opening. We need at least 6 coaches full time, a proven Head Coach, a committment by the administration towards becoming good again......and a little time...........IT COULD BE HUGE!!

Ok.....now talk about town is Coach Offutt has elected to stay on as head football coach. Congratulations to him......PLEASE go get us some assistants who have a clue as to what it takes to win! Our present staff is lacking to say the least! We need rough, tough, no nonsense football coaches who dont play favorites or chromosomes!

I agree was as good staff......but as always most moved on. What I am saying now is we are STILL hanging on to the remnants of that staff or those that slid in place of that staff. Times have changed.......ball has changed, expectaions and everything else remains. We need a someone who can come in with a fresh perspective and get it done. Now is that time.........the perfect time. I am sure the powers that be......whoever that is.......understands and will be ready to make the changes needed. At least i HOPE so!!

THAT is what I am saying! If the right people got behind Springfield, we could be as good as anyone around. My point is being the biggest town, with the oldest money, and potentially the best athletes...........all need be done is to hire someone with a vision, a plan, a community rally cry that could be heard because the right people are involved....and the rest would be history! It happend at Giles County, Mt. Pleasant......countless other places. THATS MY POINT!!! It took new blood to get it done.......not rehashing of the same old thing. This hire is critical. It can be the same ole song and dance.......or a ENTIRE NEW ERA IN THE ANNALS OF SPRINGFIELD YELLOW JACKET FOOTBALL!!! All it will take is the right man with the right plan.......connections to the people in town who can get it done.....a little time (not much in my opinion) and see what happens. It CAN happen because it DOES happen elsewhere. We dont need someone like you pointing out what has not been accomplished to be hired. We need someone with a vision as to WHAT CAN BE ACCOMPLISHED!!!!

While that is true.....you telling me since 1998 the "want to" has left the team at Springfield but not every surrounding school? Thats an easy excuse, but I aint buying it. Hire the right man and watch the "want to" come rushing back in and when it does we will kick #### and take names...........JO BRYNS included!!

About 1998-1999 I would say..........Look at the record books. "want to" has nothing to do with it.

Well, UT's problem is obvious, thier ace recruiters dont work there anymore and with strictly Tennessee players........or more than ever, they cannot compete in the SEC. UT has turned into UK south campus. But then again, who know, we are not thier so its easy to complain an guess. I do know however that here in Springtown, we need to shock ourselves back to life. With the combination of SOME thinking we are a basketball school (with nothing to prove that with, including wins) and others wanting to keep things as they were in 1960.....we have fallen behind. You guys, Jo Bryns, Sycamore to our south, even East Robertson to some degree to our North, have all kept up witht he competition and have built winners. All I am saying is that we can and should make an concerted effort to do that here. If we dont, then we are cheating our kids and the community. I dont see that happening and I for one thing that something need be done
