  1. I wouldn't say he got "rocked". Even the best pitchers are gonna have bad days.
  2. I agree Halls has a great pitching staff. Farragut still has the deepest in our area.I know Halls played Ooltewah in the Trojan Classic this past weekend and sounds like it was a pretty close game. I saw Ooltewah at the beginning of the season when they scrimmaged Farragut. From the way they played that day I figured they were gonna have a pretty good year if they were consistant. Higdon pitched for Ooltewah. He threw in the high 80's and made Farragut work for anything they got. I don't remember how many strike outs he had but one of the Farragut parents said he was one of the best pitchers their team had faced. Ooltewah is deep in pitching with Higdon, Howard, Robinson and Young. They have several more I have heard good things about but these are the ones I have actually seen pitch. This pitching staff combined with awesome batting and defense could easily give Halls, Farragut or any of our other K-town teams a run for the title.
  3. Thanks for the update Gradfromthenest. I would have liked to see Adam Howard pitch at UT but cannot blame him for choosing otherwise.
  4. I agree wtih Muffin. Oak Ridge has my vote!
  5. I agree wtih Muffin. Oak Ridge has my vote!
  6. in 5-A should be Oak Ridge #1. 2nd place could be a toss up depending on who shows up to play on any given Friday.
  7. A coaching friend of mine in your area said Ooltewah had some great athletes but just had a rough year last year. i knew there was some conflict but is it true that two of the quarterbacks are not coming back(higdon and Howard) is the Howard kid by any chance Adam Howards brother? I played against him and he was good. I heard he is coming up to UT to play baseball. He also said that the quarterback coach had taken a job somewhere else. He said he thought higdon was concentrating on baseball but was not sure about Howard. Is this just rumor or what?
  8. I saw the cyclones play at cleveland state on Sunday. They are definitely a quality team. Who all is on that team this year? I saw several that were back from last year but also saw some new talent. I know they have a web site but cannot find it to get a look at the roster. Any help out there?
  9. congratulations to all those selected. I have seen most of these players on the field and looks like an all around good group of athletes.
  10. owlsbaseball I like your attitude. Gradfromthenest politics is part of life and therefore is part of sports. unfortunately it is a big part of highschool sports. I do not believe you should take away from the athletes who have rightfully earned this honor by saying that it is based on politics. Sure there are players out there that should have made it that didn't but there are also players out there that have earned and deserve the recognition. Like underrated said this may be the only time some of these guys get recognized for their accomplishments because highschool ball may be the end of the road. Let them enjoy it while they can.
  11. I must disagree. To make all-county, all-region or all-state is indeed an honor. I worked very hard when I was in high school to be the best I could be, and was very appreciative of being selected to two of the three teams in our region. It is and always will be a prestigious award to me and my hat is off to all those who are selected!
