  1. Folks REDANDBLACK63 is not a real Central fan. If you go back all the way to 2002 and read his post you will see he has leveled accusations of recruiting and MANY other negative remarks about the program. This person disguises himself as a fan to make the program and fans look rediculous. In looking at tonights game, I think Central has a chance to win if they can keep it close to the end. The Bobcats will need to eliminate the mental mistakes, penalties, and turnovers that have haunted them this year. I remember the Cookeville game Central had 3 long tds called back due to penalties and they turned the ball over 3 times inside the cookeville 20 yard line. That game should have been a blow out win for Central and in fact looked like it on the field but still turned into a Bobcat loss. I look forward to attending tonights game, the Maryville program and fans are a class act. This Central team has tallent at the skill positions that is very capable of putting up points, and the same can be said for the RedRebels, it should be an exciting game.
  2. Central had 3 long tds runs brought back due to penalties, 2 by the tailback and 1 by the QB. The Central tailback also fumbled twice deep inside Cavalier terretory losing both. The Bobcats should have won this game handily, but too many mental mistakes. Central can have an explosive team but they better get tough mentally or it wont matter. I certainly am not taking anything away from Cookeville as they did not quit and the long drive at the end was impressive.
  3. A healthy Central Will finish 2nd in this region I believe. The line played better at DB and the O was ok. The Cats have been without 3 good players on offense including Johnny Saah out indefinetely, Cortland Styles and Wyl Mcmillan. Styles and Mcmillan start both ways. When these guys get back QB Clark McMillan will have more playmakers besides Jamie Wilson to work with. Coaches Helton and McMillan are 2 of the best around and with continued improvement and luck with the injury bug, the Cats could be back to form in 07.
  4. I can certainly see why you think Farragut would be a tougher opponent, After all Central has simply owned the Admirals the last 3 years in real games that counted.
  5. IMO those Jeff County numbers are a bit generous, I am certain the Central D had more than a few minus yardage plays, perhaps the film will tell for sure. The third team QB Corry Holbert did play the majority of the scrimmage after Mcmillan went out. Styles is the second team QB as well as WR and LB and he also did not play.
  6. It is really hard to put a score or winner in any scrimmage especially this one. Why was it played on the small practice field, it was only about 50 yds long and didnt look nearly wide enough. If you were counting scores it was 2-2 both first teams scored once as did the second teams. Jeff County seemed to be working hard on their running game and seemed to struggle at times early, their first team scored after about a 40 yd pass near the goal line then 2 plays later ran the ball in for a TD. Centrals ran the ball consistently at times and at times the blocking seemed to breakdown. CHS also scored on a long run. The good for Central is alot of younger kids played. The starting QB played about 7 plays in the first series then sat out because of sickness. WR and LB Cortland Styles wasnt dressed do to injury. The injured player was Will McMillan younger brother of the QB. Central really did not show much of their traditional offense as they were working on the new running package which still needs alot of work. I think this was a good scrimmage from both sides as both teams were working to get better and improve rather than going with strengths and tryin to "win" a scrimmage. On a positive for Jeff County their kids seem to have a better and more agressive attitude and played hard, I definitely saw improvement over the last couple of years. Their kids seem to believe in the Coaches and that goes a long way toward success, in fact once they get the veer offense down this Knox Central fan thinks the Pats will have a very competitive team.
  7. D Line will be strong but backers might be a problem, except when Jamie Wilson, Styles and Hoge are in together. I wouldnt count Chris Wilson in that group the kid doesnt like to hit but he is a capable coverage backer.
  8. Like I stated Fulton only has to beat Catholic or AE to win state. In 2006 Fulton defeated these teams in the playoffs in order listed. Claiborne County, Carter, Catholic, Pearl Cohn, and David Lipscomb. THAT is not an intimidating list, Is it?? In regards to scrimmages Central dominates AE every year when they scrimmage. Last year Catholic beat CHS in the jamboree, but on the first 2 series Centrals starters were in on defense and the Irish couldnt get out of the backfield. In reference to the West game CHS led at half time 7-6, shortly after half the Cats had several injuries to add to lengthy list entering the game. Three West TDs came after the 2nd team QB fumbled inside the Bobcat 20 yardline one of which was in the end zone where West recovered for the TD. Central essentially played the 2nd half of that game with a JV squad. If you need proof watch the film. When it comes to this season, the Cats have tallent but with a few injuries it could be a long year, however if they can stay healthy I can see 9-1 or 8-2, West will be the swing game. I think West and Central are alot closer than some folks think. Central looked good in the passing league, but its alot different when the reciever knows hes gonna get blasted after the catch, or the QB is pressured.
  9. Did you notice how Central went right down the field on the first posession, they were about to score before the injuries. If you know Fulton that well, why dont you tell everyone how many Fulton players are from the Central youth program. The Falcons had 5 starters from the Bobcats last year, including Rogan. Fulton is loaded with athletes because theyve had a nice run, but what have they really accomplished, well they have had success against Catholic and AE, Everybody else in 3-A is weak. Comparing 3-A and 4-A ball is like comparing Arena football to the NFL.
  10. You said exactly what you ment to say, and you said it well. Here Ill help you explain, Fulton lost and you want to whine and discredit the Cats. I watched Fulton play all week in the passing league and I saw Many of the same players out there tonight making plays for the Falcons that Ive seen all week. Settle down because when the real season starts you wont have to worry about Central. All you have to worry about is two games AE and Catholic, then you can win state again, Everybody else in 3-A is WEAK.
  11. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> Chris Wilson IS NOT a great linebacker, the kid doesnt like to hit, man he avoids contact, Ive wandered why he even plays the game. I believe dwusmc must have had Jack Daniels spiked cheerios for breakfast before making that post.
  12. Just wandering if the all region team has been announced? HTV are you there?
  13. I would loke to congratulate the RedRebels on the victory, I predicted a 3 TD win. I CANNOT believe any Rhea fan would bring up the officiating in this game, as earlier in the thread when I alluded to the Breaks Rhea County received in the first round of the playoffs against the injury depleted Bobcats I was admonished as being a sore loser. Im going to expand on 3 calls out of many that quite positively affected the outcome of the game vs Central. Play number one- The Cats facing 3rd and long Andreas Taylor runs a curl route deep into Rhea territory when the defender slips and falls Taylor trips over him gets up Mcmillan makes the throw for a first down, the playside official signals first down, then the official from the far side of the field throws his flag calling pass interfearence on the offense, making it 3rd and forever and Rhea holds. Play number two- With three minutes to go in the first half Central faces a third and 8 from the Rhea County 30, Mcmillan options to the tailback who rambles inside the Rhea County 3 yard line. The play is blown dead, first and goal for Central right? Wrong, out comes a late flag HOLDING against Central Making it 3rd and forever, Rhea County holds Play number three Rhea County faces a thrd and long in Central territory when the QB is sacked for a loss bringing up 4th and forever, right? Wrong, After the play, Centrals Jay Bush turns to go back to the huddle and trips over a Rhea County player and out comes the yellow flag, and along with it a 15 yard personal foul penalty and automatic first down deep in Central territory. Rhea then scores on the drive. I might add, the entire Rhea County Sherriffs Dept. must have been in attendance, as there were atleast 20 officers at the game and every time the fans would chastise the officials for game altering calls Rhea Counties finest would parade in front of the visitors section. Ill say again NO Wonder the Golden Birds were undefeated at home. If I sound like a poor loser so be it, I know the Cats would not have defeated Maryville in round two with the injuries they have, but this effort deserved better than a 20-18 loss.
  14. Well having seen both these teams first hand, Ill have to say the RedRebels should win this one hands down. The Bobcats played the Rhea County game last week DECIMATED by injuries and still should have pulled out the win. If the game had been played in Knoxville the Cats probably would have won handily as the Golden Birds would not have had the timely breaks go their way. It isnt hard to see why Rhea County was undefeated at home. Maryville has too much talent and the best coaching around and I believe will win by 3TDs.
  15. Im not sure on the injured players status just yet. Central started the West game without the following starters, All State Defensive End Orlando Blair, tail back Jamie Wilson and Free safety Will Mcmillan. When West was up 12-7 early in the 3 rd quarter Central lost their starting QB Clark Mcmillan, Fullback and Middle linebacker Josh Owens, and defensive Tackle Cory Jeffries. Blair, Owens and Jeffries are the seniors that have carried the Central D this year. All of these injured players are key to the success of the Bobcats. West played tough and deserved the win, but Central probably wouldnt beat anyone in Reg 3-4A with all these guys out. If the Cats can get these guys back then they can play with just about anyone, without them, (Well) just check the West game.
  16. I guess its hard for me to understand the relevance of winning a JV game, but on the other hand I guess if My tradition was losing it wouldnt be that hard. For your information Central is facing ALOT of injuries which is why the underclassman athletes did not suit up for the JV game.
  17. Son, Im not trying to dampen your enthuism, your JV team did play ok, but in fact 95% of the CHS players on the field last night were Freshman including ALL of the skill players dressed for the Bobcats.
  18. I think this will be an exciting game as usual, I feel we will see a better Central team Friday night. I honestly believe Central was NOT looking ahead to Maryville last week, the loss was do to several factors the biggest being the play of a much improved Bearden team. The Bobcats lacked intensity and probably overlooked the Bulldogs and expected an easy game, I do know coach helton warned the team that Bearden would probably be the best team they had faced so far this year, but teenagers dont always listen. Do They? I am looking forward to Friday night as Maryville is absolutely my favorite venue to watch Highschool football. I think Central will have to bring their A game especially the O-Line, and limit the turnovers to have a chance for victory. The RedRebels simply dont beat themselves. As far as TV, has comcast worked out a deal with the Maryville Administration to broadcast, I know their were problems 2 years ago.
  19. My guess is that the score in this game may be a little closer than some suspect. A win in this game would be a HUGE boost for the Bulldog program as they are trying to rebuild. Central on the other hand hopes to keep momentum for the game next week against the Red Rebels. The Cats certainly have the athletes to win big in this one, as speed kills, BUT rain kills speed. Central 21 Bearden 7
  20. Son you havent a clue about what you speak, McMillan has thrown the ball well, This Bobcat team is far from a one man show, remember the names Kirkland, Nelson, Taylor, Wilson, McMillan, Blair and Owens. These guys are all offensive weapons. This Central team is the most balanced in quite a while.
  21. In my opinion this is a dangerous game for the Cats. Central better not be looking ahead to next weeks match up with Maryville. Bearden seems to have bought into the system of Bill Wilson and they have been much more competitive this season. In 05 the Bobcats were up HUGE at half time of this game and Im sure the Bulldogs will have something to prove. Ill give my prediction later in the week after Ive seen the mentality of this Central Team.
