  1. I have heard that Bruceton will be honoring the 1989 state championship team Friday night. Can anyone confirm this? If so, is it before game or at halftime?
  2. I left with about 4:00 minutes to go. WV had taken over on downs at the Huntingdon 30 or so. Score was 28-27 WV. I thought it was over. Got in the car, turned the radio when I got outside of Martin and was astounded to hear the score. What a game. Wallace from Huntingdon made some big hits as did the Simpson kid. I thought going in that Westview would win this one handily and it looked like they might right after halftime when they drove down and scored. Got to give it to Huntingdon they kept on responding. Great way to kick off 09 season. Thanks to both teams for such a good game.
  3. Looking forward to this one. (All that smack talking) maybe the teams will be as fired up as the fans. Liberty is a pretty good team, but I expect much of the same from HC again this year. HC 34 Liberty 14
  4. MWV - 28 Huntingdon - 17 Should be a great game. Hope rain holds off.
  5. Should be a good game. Interested to see what HC looks like without Teague and Allen. I have heard that they are still very good. Looking forward to Fri. night lights!
  6. Was up against a heck of a team Friday vs Westview. I hope we can get the offense on track. Good Luck Tigers
  7. Watched Camden both of the last two weeks. McKenzie was more impressive. Physical Union City team knocked the crap out McKenzie backs and they didn't panic. They stayed the course and turned it around. McKenzie will go to the the lions den and pull out the win. I was going to this one, should be great, but I just can't miss the Liberty at HC game. Wish I could go to both.
  8. I believe that Liberty and Jackson South Side are the two best teams in Jackson, not to take anything away from the privates but these programs are both on the rise.
  9. Like to hear someone's thoughts on how BHR matches up with Martin WV. I have heard they have a back that is very good. Can we hold them back for two short quarters?
  10. Huntindon at Bruceton (not sure of year late 80's ) People started arriving at around 5:00 and getting their places. Huntingdon was ranked a top 5 AA school. Bruceton was ranked top 5 A school. Both undefeated. Towns only 13 miles apart in the same county. Need I say more. Great game, Bruceton won on a last minute drive.. Thing that I remember most about game is the large crowd leaning on the visitors fence until they broke a section of it. Bruceton at DCA in 1990 was a very good down to the wire game also.
  11. Just wandering if the offense looked any better? Did they move the ball any on LC 1st D? or was it on 2nd team? I was very impressed with the D last week at SF. Jamie has them running that 44 like it should be run. All in all I think B will get back into form in the next couple years!
  12. Somebody give us an update on B vs LC. I heard about an hour into scrimmage it was only 6-0 LC favor. The D seems to be making a lot of progress.
  13. Not hard to see why DA won the Class II state title last year. They are loaded. #40 Williamson kid is a hoss. 70 yards 1st play from los. Put up 3 TD's and moved the ball very well against the Lions. Camden will be hard team to beat as they actually came back and ended up scoring 3td on da. Not sure how much of DA 1st team was in on a couple of those drives. Camden has some hosses too. The little scat back looked very good and turned out some long runs, has speed to spare. And #15 is a good looking back and defensive man. Camden is looking at a very successful year again this year. Looking forward to week 0 when they take on McKenzie
  14. Can anyone give us a list of games and the date of the Huntingdon Jamboree?
  15. Jordan is at receiver most of the time. Haynes and Wortham FB and TB most of the time I think. Hanson out injured. Is to be back pretty soon.
  16. Does Camden scrimmage anyone this week? If so, who, where and when?
  17. Anyone know about a scrimmage the week? If so give us day, place, time please.
  18. Coach Thomas is primarily the Offensive Coach. They are still really young in the line and it will just take some time.
  19. Defense is much, much better. Starting to look like Bruceton defense should look. Still a lot to be desired on offense. The first TD against SF was set up by fumble forced by D.
  20. Does anyone have any info on a scrimmage today at South Fulton? If so please let us know the time.
  21. Does anyone know how many players are out and how summer workouts are going? Looking forward to Jamie Williams inaugural season. Good Luck and Go Tigers!
  22. The kids will be in shape. Williams is a conditioning guru just like McGee. During spring practice he even sounded a little like McGee out there coaching the defense. I expect much better results this fall. I think they will win several games based on the improvement showed in the spring. I really wish they had a little bit more favorable schedule to start with. Camden and Huntingdon will wear us out subbing in those first two games in the heat. Go Tigers
  23. They are gonna be better this year. Offense needs work, but they will be better than last year. I could see a 5-5 or 6-4 season being very possible. May even come up and surprise some of the more solid teams they play. We don't need no grass, let em play on dirt and mud. It will be fun. LOL
  24. I am so tired of hearing how the talent level has dropped. It has not dropped; it has not been developed. H.I.S. leaving has little or nothing to do with decline of Bruceton football. McGee and Sturdivant leaving has a great deal. The 07' team had as much talent as any team that Bruceton has had since late 80's and 90's and the 06 and 05 teams had talent as well. For the last few years a number of Bruceton's athletes were sitting in the classroom and doing something besides football on Friday night. In a single A school that just can't happen and you compete for a state championship. Now I know you are gonna have that 1 or 2 who will not play no matter what. Grandma or momma or something just will not consent, but you gotta get most of them. We have not been doing that. The kids must be motiveated to come out and play. That is job #1 and it has not been done very well in the past few years. I fully expect this will change with the new coaching staff. I saw some good things in the spring. I saw some guys want to lay the dummies aside and get after each other. That is what has been lacking to some extent. They played a good South Fulton team that has a lot of talent returning a very good game especailly defensively allowing them only 2 td's and 1 of those on a busted play first series. The offense needs work but by fall it will be back in shape. I expect the team to win several games and maybe even surprise a few folks that they are not supposed to be able to play with. I believe the difference was the two years of coaching that those guys back in the 80's and 90's got in jr high coupled with the four solid years they got in high school under McGee and Sturdivant made the difference. Now in saying all this I will also say I am not meaning to degrade Coach Gilmer. He gave it his all, but he had a different offensive philosophy than what Bruceton has traditionally had and it really never served us too well. I think most of the community and alumni are very excited about the new "old" blood that has came back into the Bruceton system. Good luck and go get em Tigers.
  25. I thought the team looked pretty good for just having a couple of weeks with the new staff. The defense played very well outside of a sweep that #15 took to the house on 1st series. He is a heck of an athlete. Offense needs a lot of work, but I think they will get there. Score of main teams was 2-0 when I left. This team destroyed us last year and they have a bunch of guys back. We only have a couple of seniors. Future looks much brighter to me.
