Hey Pujo I know you guys have a good team, but how do you think your team stacks up against Boyd or South Pitt. Either team would be by far the best you have played this season? Would that be a good assumption? Do you feel Cloudland could beat either one of these teams easily? I personally think we would have a better chance against Cloudland than Boyd would. We have been to Roan Mountain, Boyd has not. We are more country boys than Boyd. Coming up there was a cultural shock for us last time. Imagine how the city slickers from Boyd would react. Good luck against those Virginia teams.

I am interested in this game. It looks as though Watertown has their best team in sometime. Gordonsville appears to be weaker than the past two years. I still think Gordonsville will win. If Gordonsville wins I look forward to Watertown coming to South Pitt in the first round. Is Gordonsville as good as the past two seasons? What do G-Town supporters think?
G-Town 34
Watertown 14

I am from South Pittsburg and coach Brewer use to coach at Grundy County. I believe he led them to the playoffs every year he coached. I think he even one the first round the year he left. I think Monterey better feel good about having him. I mean your program is not near as good as Grundy County's. You lost alot of players off last years team and your good runningback transferred. Give the guy a chance.

If C.P.A wins this game where will they finish in the region? If they lose are they definitely out of the playoffs or are they still fourth? What does it look like for them?
-
I agree Ron Cook should be a finalist. People talk about Byrd all they want and he is a good player, but he is not as good running or passing as Cook from South Pittsburg. Peardon is very very good too, but getting hurt put him out of the running.
-
I will say Gordonsville wins in a route. I do not think they are as good as they were the last two seasons, but the whole region is down a little. It looks like South Pittsburg will be at Gordonsville again in the second round. South Pittsburg is 30 points better than they were last year. Do you Gordonsville fans think ya'll are better than last year or not quite as good? Always a good atmosphere to play in the JUNGLE. I think South Pitt will have way to much for you this year though. Good luck against the privates Friday night.
-
dlu07 you are probably right. South Pittsburg got on a hot streak that year and went to the semi's with a less than average football team. But last year it was the other way around. South Pittsburg was 21 better than Gordonsville last year, but came to Gordonsville a little over confident, turned the ball over, and played in a swamp. The conditions last year were clearly a HUGE advantage for Gordonsville. Anytime a smaller faster team plays a larger team with less speed, rain is the ultimate equalizer. It was that night. As for this year if you beat F.C.S we will again be in Gordonsville, but the outcome won't be the same. Mark it down, bet the house, Gordonsville will not beat S.P. this season.

At the beginning of the season I would have said Grundy by 35. Now it seems as though Grundy has fallen apart. What is going on up the mountain? Whitwell thinks they are good so who knows what will happen. The game is at Whitwell so I wouldn't be surprised if they pulled one out even though Grundy has the better potential. Grundy is no where near they team they were when they played South Pittsburg. Wouldn't you agree with me Del? They were a solid team when South Pitt played, but now they seem to be in big trouble.
-
If South Pittsburg loses to this team the coaches will be fired. On paper at least there is no comparison between the two teams. If both teams played their best game South Pittsburg would win by 40. I am not being cocky just stating facts. Everyone in Marion County knows it. No sense in denying it. They better hope South Pittsburg is still hung over from last week. If they don't play the way they are capable of then Jasper(oh excuse me) Marion could keep it respectable. If they do play to their potential you boys are in major trouble. I know it, you know it, your coaches know it. Get over it.
-
Has U.S.J. fell off a little bit? I know they have lost to 3 larger schools, but I remember they use to beat teams like that. I thought they returned alot of starters from last years team. Im not bashing them just curious about their situation.
-
It doesn't matter if your name is Jasper or Marion County. You better hope South Pittsburg does not bring their A game tonight. If they do it will be over quick.
-
Is South Pittsburg the superior team? YES. Should they beat Jasper soundly? YES. There is no comparison between these two teams. South Pitt is easily 40 points better than Jasper, but after the emotionally draining loss last week how will South Pitt respond. Jasper will be sky high while South Pittsburg may be flat. I still think South Pitt will pull it out. It could be closer than it should be. South Pitt has way to much in the end though. South Pitt by 14
-
I think people are counting S.P. out just because Boyd beat them the first time. Anyone at that game knows South Pittsburg fumbled at the 5 and inside the 20 that led to 14 points. The QB also had a night to forget. Missing wide open receivers time after time. I still think S.P is a team to be dealt with. If S.P makes it to the quarters that should be a great rematch. I think it could go either way next time. Cloudland is a good team. I won't take that away from them, but I really think S.P. and Boyd is just a little better. As for the west I see it being one of three teams. C.P.A, D.C.A, or U.S.J.
-
Hey Del what has happened to Grundy? They were a solid team when they played us.
-
I know it's a rivalry, but this game shouldn't be that close. If Boyd had trouble scoring then Jasper will really have trouble. I think S.P. has way to much speed for this team.
-
Yeah Pujo I remember that game. One of the best teams your school has ever had played one of the weakest we have ever had. I will say it again you have no idea about what really is South Pittsburg football. Two years ago you saw the 2nd weakest team we have had in the past ten years. I will put money that S.P. or Boyd will beat Cloudland.
-
Just curious how PUJO can be on the other end of the earth, but know for certain Boyd will beat S.P. by at least 14. It doesnt really matter. Boyd or South Pitt would beat Cloudland by at least 21. The only reason Boyd and South Pitt both won't be in the semifinals is because they are in the same region and will have to play in the quarterfinals. Two best teams in the East WILL play Friday night.

No what is hilarious is this thread. Did I read where people said Oakdale is a good ball team? I was reading the paper yesterday and I think I saw where Lookout Valley beat Oakdale 33-0. Lookout Valley was 0-5. They are one of the worst teams I have ever seen.
-
I agree with you Falcon777. I think whoever wins between Boyd and South Pittsburg in the quarterfinals will have a great chance to win the state. I may be wrong, but I think Boyd and South Pitt have the best two teams in the east and maybe the state. South Pitt hasnt beat Boyd since 99 so ya'll have every right to think you will win again. To be the man you have to beat the man. South Pitt was on top for many years, but over the past three years Boyd has been on top. Like I said earlier I think these two are destined to play twice this year. The regular season is important, but the most important one will be in the quarterfinals. I think both matchups will be a tossup. I think Cloudland is the third best in the east this year.
-
East Ridge will not beat Boyd. What do you think ELA? I think Boyd will win by at least 24 points.
-
I agree this game will be extremely close. I do not think their is alot of difference between either team. That game is what high school football is all about.
-
Sweetwater, Grundy County, and Sequatchie County are all pretty decent teams. Boyd is a terrific team. Cloudland would not have won any region championships or advanced past the 3rd round the past two years if Boyd were in their region. I really think Cloudland does not play anyone the calibar of any of these teams in the regular season. I know its not there fault the competition is weak, but it is the truth.
-
Cloudland has no idea what a great football team is. They think that South Pitt's 2001 team was about as good as any teams we have had. Our teams from 93-99 and this year's team would beat our 2001 team by 80 points. I have seen Cloudland people post on here that our program is overrated. The only reason they say that is they haven't seen ANY of our GOOD teams. They saw a BAD team in 2001. If we can get by Boyd they will be in for a huge surprise. Cloudland is the third best team in the east behind S.P and Boyd. I just get so tired of everyone talking about Cloudland. If they played our schedule every year they would go 9-1 at the best. We play Lookout Valley which is awful, but they have about 5 or 6 teams on their schedule like that.
