1. I'm not about to deny that Lexington tried to put up points. If the game is 36-3, I'll try to at least put up some points too. Nor did I say I ever say Mansfield was trying to run up the score. I was trying to explain the reason form the Lexington coach being so mad going into this game. That being said and Huntingdon fans becoming so defenseive, I thought I would let the scores speak for themselves. Ladies and gentlemen, the 2003 Huntingdon Mustangs schedule and results courtesy of coacht.com.....

  2. West Tennessee has the most raw talent, but it is not usually a deep.

Middle and East Tennessee have better coaches, hence the better teams. The pay is usually better so they have better coaching.

Maryville is a really good team, not great accross the board talent wise (boy I can't wait for the replies to that comment!), but they are so well coached in the fundamentals that they are able to make up for any lacking in talent. Yes, Central had more raw talent that you did on the field last year, and anyone of you that knows football will not argue with me.

There are a lot of other factors that go into it as well, such as discipline, but the better coaching is the big difference.

  3. Mansfield did not put up points late in that game.  It is his job to not be trying to throw the ball down the field and things like that trying to score but when you run the ball right up the middle and the other team cant stop it then that is there fault.  The only time Huntingdon has ever run up the score on anybody was Harpeth b/c Harpeth had their 1st team going against Huntingdon's 3rd team and were still trying to throw the ball down the field.  If your defense cant stop a team dont complain about them running up the score.

Hmmmm...........if I remember correctly, the score was 36-19 with under two minutes left (may have been under 1), Huntingdon's starters were till in the game, and Mansfield kept giving the ball to the start RB last year (his name slips my mind) because it was his birthday or something like that. I'f sure that the calls weren't HB dive right either.

  4. I am looking forward to this contest, no doubt Lexington is a much improved team. Our secondary needs a good test to see where they stand. I understand that Lexington's coach promised Mansfield a MAJOR beatdown this year!!!   Should be interesting.....

Mansfield put up some points in the final minute or two last year in the win when they were already up by 20 or so and that ruffled some feathers.

This is the most athletic team Lexington has fielded since the late 80s. Not many high school teams are able to boast a QB, RB, and WR that aren't in the Super 7 (an entirely different story). Even the most ignorant of fans will have to admit that it will be harder than normal to defend.

Huntingdon's main strength is the players' physical strength. If Lexington can man up with them in the trenches then this will be a close game. If Huntington is able to dominate the line then Huntingdon will win again. Mansfield does an incredible job of having his teams physically prepared.

I will caution the Mustang fan with this. Don't think it will be a runaway simply because of what has happened the past few years. Anyone at the games the past 2 years knows that with a break or two falling Lexington's way, the outcomes would have been MUCH closer than the final scores indicated. This is an older team that has experience, and that does count for something (see Oregon State's kicker).

Huntingdon is the favorite as they should be, but don't count the Tigers out yet. It should be a game worth watching, and thankfully I'm going to get to make it to this one.

  5. I noticed the Mustangs put up 450 yards rushing last week. That's impressive. Is the Tigers defense quick enough to stop their rushing attack?

And can anyone give me Lexington's stats from last night, all the details you can if possible? Well, mainly how did the rushing game look? All I can find online is a brief summary of the game.

  6. When an opposing team's player is laying inured on their sideline as the coaches and trainer make their way over and players stand around him taunting him because of the hit and the coach does nothing about it, that equated Miami Hurricane thuggery in my book every time. (sidenote-When do the PC people start complaining about the Hurricane nickname and call for Miami to change it because of the devistation hurricanes haev caused to the Florida area?  I'd lay money down that says by the end of the year we hear of at least one person/group.)

Doubt I catch the radio, I'll just check coacht.com for the scores later.  Good luck to both sides, and I do hope your coach has control of this team, because the least time I saw them, whoever was the coach certainly did not.

That being said, I say LHS by 2 TDs.  It's hard to stop a team in high school with a legit QB and RB.

As I said, Lexington by 2 TDs! :(

  7. I remember the player's name. Wasn't that when Tucker was at Humboldt?

    825326155

Yeah, Tucker moved there his junior year. I want to say he put together back to back 2000 yard seasons his junior and senior seasons, but I might be wrong. Even if he didn't, he was close to it. If he made it through the linebackers there was no catching him. And even if a linebacker did hit him, there was no guarantee he was going down. He was a beast. He won Mr. Football in 97.

  8. Um, dude...do you call Jackson South Side, Jackson North Side, and McNairy County cupcake teams?

    825326146

Point taken for this year, even if North Side isn't their typical self. Look back over the last 10 years, who have they typically played out of region. Until the last 2 or 3, it was a mighty weak schedule. You can't deny that. You also will have to admit the guaranteed 9 wins regular seasons are over.

  9. 2 points:

    1. I was lucky if grass was on our field by mid October when I played, and that was the late 90s.

    2. I was traveling with some people past Miami, Ohio's stadium about three years back and they made a comment about it. I was with a few guys from Texas and it was hard for us not to laugh because this thing was tiny and it was a 1-A college. It just shows the difference between football in the north and south.

  10. Obviously alot has changed since you've seen the BCHS Tigers!!!!!!  We don't have "thugs" on this team and you should be ashamed of yourself for even saying that! We're also saddened to hear that you are 150 miles away from being able to come see for yourself!  Maybe if you're lucky, you can catch us on the radio! Ha.

Oh and by the way, we do have a very talented Head Football coach this year so maybe that's got something to do with it.

  11. Come to the game and you will see. ty evans better worry about us.

    825325934

I'm approximately 150 miles away as we speak, and by kickoff will be closer to 250 on my way to Knoxville. Unfortunately I won't be able to make it. I was just hoping some people could give me a little insight to what Bolivar has. Last time I saw them, Lexington had just beaten them by 30 and Bolivar looked more interested in acting like thugs than actually playing football. I was just wondering if times had changed.

  12. Are they going to be good or not? I'm hearing conflicting reports. I don't see how they can't be good, but then again, I said that last year too. I know they are loaded at offensive skill positions, but what about everywhere else? And can Evans throw for 2,000? Any chance at winning the region and making a playoff run?
