The last two games were split into 8 minute quarters. Alcoa won 14 -0 with the first team all the way in the first and in the second part Alcoa JV 7-0 over Heritage JV. The same with Maryville 14-0 and then the Maryville JV played against Greenback first team and ended 0-0. Good news on Maryville, Cobble hit a long pass in stride for about 60 yards and 45 of it was in the air. Didn't see that all last year. Thank goodness we are not disabled in the long pass any longer.
ah. That makes much more sense. I thought it was one 12 minute quarter. -
The heritage/Alcoa score was the one that surprised me the most. Did Alcoa play their starters longer or what?
The Rebels at least read liked they looked ok, but not much you can take from that at all. How’d all 4 qbs look?

Caught the 4th quarter. Rebels had their chances but couldn’t pull it out. Corbin’s RB looked like a sophomore in high school out there. Dude was huge.

I would personally send 5 every play at every angle. That’s just me. But you have to trust your secondary to be able to do that. -
Maryvillle plays bend don’t break. They have for the entire time I’ve lived here. They just do it from a 3 4 instead of a 4 3 now.

At 14 years old? What is going on?
Apparently had one of those weird tackle/knee bend situations Tuesday at practice from what I was told.

45-0 Final Way to Go JR Rebels!
And that’s with their starting RB out with a possible MCL tear.
That said, sounded like there wasn’t much of a fight at all. Not that I’m surprised.

My be worth mentioning there are two organizations in Maryville. I’ll just speak for my specifics but if they want to play, they know where to find me.
And it was hot as blazes there Thursday and Friday.

RW just drooling over all guys now……
The dads I’ve talked with were pretty excited. Said O line needs some work, but we all knew that was going to be the case.
These boys may have a chip on their shoulder. I think they are sick and tired of hearing about how bad they are gonna be.

In relationship to this, I couldn't help but wonder ... do you think anything "fishy" went on with the whole Nolan transferring to Powell when he did?
I was somewhat surprised certain names weren't mentioned in that article in relation to this.

I can't remember exactly which game I was watching last year (I'm thinking the West game), but I remember that it was the most unorganized I had ever seen a Maryville team look.
I've often wondered how much of that had to do with a first year senior QB coming in and having to cram a lot into a short window.

I had a Junior High coach tell be last year that the 7th grade class overall was even better than the 8th grade class. A lot of 7th graders started last year for the Junior High team. Big difference in the 2 classes is Will Jones. Will Jones will be a difference maker. I am not ready to give up on this upcoming Maryville team. Gage is a great running back. Price Davis is going to break out this year. He is 6' 185lbs now. He is bigger, faster and stronger. I feel like Maryville will be strong on the Oline. Blake Heckman is a monster going to Liberty. Logan McGlamery is benching 375lbs and squatting 500lbs. He has starting experience. Alex Boyd is much bigger and stronger. If receivers and quarterback step up offense will be really good. Eli Elkins is a good TE. A lot of kids on defense need to step up. I hope Sam Young can stay healthy. I am hearing good things about Matthew Covert.
It's almost like someone has said that on here before..............

He should have never take. The job if he couldn’t move there and be committed.
I'd be willing to wager he was sold a false bill of goods about Matthews and saw quickly how this was going to do. If anything he did terrible due diligence on it.

Any update from the meeting?
-
Format isn't perfect, but major step to where I'd like it.
One question - I thought sub-state, er, sectionals had to take place Friday/Saturday. I get part of it because of graduations, but I saw Rossview/Collierville will be over 3 days. I don't care for that. Play it in 2 days like everyone else. And if there are no graduations, it should have to be Friday/Saturday.

Better be a great group of freshmen. I assume any good freshman and sophomores would’ve had the chance to play last year.
Freshman group is loaded.

I'll give them this much, their coaching staff is more visable than anyone else in the county. I see something about them every single day somewhere.

Outside of the private schools - Trousdale County 97 was DOMINANT.
I was going to say 96 (didn't see the 97 version), but yeah, in this time frame.

Just seeing this. Seemed like a great guy. Hate to read the news.

Fun game and atmosphere. Don't know if I'd classify either as great, but two good teams.

I believe I'm going to venture out to watch this game Friday. Don't make hardly any bball games, but I want to see both teams.
