One of the parents I know told me Alcoa and Powell next Monday at Powell at 6. They also told me track and baseball has robbed Alcoa of at least twelve players.
Good, it's spring time. They should be playing something other than football.

I have no idea how they'll do on the field, but both they and Heritage are trying to build some community interest. First time either has done that since I have lived here.
-
Given the size of districts now with 4 classes, I wish they'd just play an 8 team double elimination region tournament (top 4 from each district advance) and the winner of of that goes to state. It's still not 2 of 3, but it would be a lot better than what we have now. The regional/sectional week is one of the dumbest formats in sports in the US.

I get the sense the staff is cautiously very bullish on this team.

I saw that. A great change from years past. I believe middle school did well this past season also.
I think, though, when you're a young coach and are looking to grow within a program and have the opportunity to surround yourself with a community of not only a group of good coaches, but parents that provide the support needed, you make that decision to move. Can't fault any of them for not staying longer than they did.
Midgets gave the Rebs all they wanted in the playoffs as well.
9-12 year olds are a talented group. TBD on the 7-8s, but there is some talent in the pipeline if they stick with it.

Heritage has some talent in the youth leagues. I don't know any of the middle school/high school coaches, but from what I've been told by people out there an entire house cleaning needs to be in order because the kids would be willing to play football, they just don't like any of the coaches.

Ready to see what Coach Johnson does at CC. Glad he got an opportunity to be a head man.

Heard a current OC at a private school in Knoxville is interested in the job…
There is one OC that comes to mind, that if it was him, would be interesting.

Shad think he can get the Milan job?

Agree…but it’s not an awful job. There is football interest, though it needs stoked some. The worst part would be finding out that admin doesn’t want to help.
I just don't see it. Not on the scale to make a competitive 6A program anyway.
-
I just can't see many coaches wanting to touch this job.

Yes I heard the numbers were really up big time but for about 5 or 6 years the junior high was around the 30 level. Not sure what caused the big explosion all the sudden but no complaints from this corner. At the time I was getting real concerned until Greyrider told me we actually were down to the real meat of the team and all the fat done us a favor and moved to the side.
If they stick with it, there's still plenty of talent in the pipeline.

The only person that knows why he decided to leave is him his self. Only the closest people to him can only speculate why. I was always told when the day came he lost Gaylor and Ellis the rest of the house would come tumbling down like a house of cards. I think both coaches were ready to get out anyway. We could lose all five interior offensive linemen and Ellis could bring you one back the following year good if not better, seen it to many times. This is just my speculation but any coach always has it on the back of their mind who is the new crop coming up and how many. About the time of his departure the junior high went from producing 60 man teams to 30 overnight and had a lot to do with the kids safety which was being overplayed until all the Karen's in Maryville wouldn't allow junior to play football anymore. Only speculation there on my part but I was posting about this problem when it was happening and not many people blinked an eye. Sure surprised me when he left but losing two great coaches and Karen out there drying up your feeder system is what I think may have contributed to his departure.
They were at 75+ this year.
Rebs fielded 25 (could have had more)
Southerners and Lil Rebs both fielded 35.
Not sure of total numbers of the Cubs org, but my guess is between Jr High and youth leagues there were over 230 kids playing tackle football this year in the city.
Things are ok.

Congrats Oakland. That's a really good football team.

God bless whoever brought us Ralph's donuts.

I think the offense can move the ball and score some. Rebels have talent.n
Defense cannot read and react. They are going to have to be much more aggressive to stand a chance.

Admirals had a great game plan and executed it very, very well.
Those were the two worst unsportsmanlike penalties I've ever seen.
Rebels better kick it up about 10 notches next week.

For what it's worth I don't think anyone..not even WR fans could have imagined a 2nd round playoff game. Nothing to be ashamed of. Imagine the potential at WR if they can do this their first year.
You guys have nothing to be ashamed of. That's a great first year for a program.

Not bad for a bunch of unathletic kids.
I don't recommend playing cover 3 with Burks and fortenberry spilt out

“Another thing that helps is Cleveland was, by many observers, the most athlete-laden team in Region 2-6A — which includes Maryville. In other words, the Wolves will face a better football team this week, but not necessarily the same level of physical ability.”

Shout out to the DB kicker on that Vaughn kickoff return. He tried.
And I'm going to assume that Waco was the guy in the carharts and gray sweatshirt from now until the end of time.

So because of family I care much more about this than I would on a normal year. Who are the favorite to win state?
