Okay. Let's get it started. I read on another thread that Clinton uses the spread offense - and the poster thought that it might give Maryville trouble since they had not seen it yet. By now we all know about the huge bulls-eye that the Rebels have on their backs each week. Should they be worried?

I agree Rhea County. But one thing that no one needs to question is that Coach Quarles will really bust some butts this week. He will have them ready to play next Friday. Hopefully this ugly win will end up being a positive thing and really fire the Rebels up to silence their critics. See the "What happened...." thread for my comments on the fans. All of us Rebel fans need to do some soul searching this week ourselves and come ready to burn it up next week.

I was at the game, and it was definitely a real scare! Yes, Maryville shot themselves in the foot over and over in the game. But a lot of credit also needs to be given to Brainerd. They played inspired, hard-nosed football all night. Their intensity and athletic ability surprised everyone in the stadium. Hard to say what the score may have been if Maryville hadn't turned the ball over 5 times, but Brainerd certainly took advantage of every chance they got and never let up. Still, as said, a win is a win - and an ugly win like this just might be what it takes to light a fire under the Reb players that might be getting a little too overconfident. I also very much have to agree with a poster on the other Maryville/Brainerd board. I won't even comment about the numerous fans that didn’t even bother to show up at all. This is for the ones that did: I also was shocked at the blahseh who-gives-a-crap attitude of many of the Maryville fans at the game. Keep in mind that it's got to be really bad for me to attack a group of folks that I consider to be my peers. Come on folks! This is the playoffs! Maryville has a giant bullseye on its back and there are no guaranteed wins. How bout some noise? How bout some excitement? It's almost as if half the crowd was asleep until the 4th Qtr and then all of a sudden an alarm went off saying "geesh…….we could actually lose this game, we'd better get in to it". Yes, it was cold and clapping gloves don't make as much noise as clapping hands; but how bout some yelling?? I can assure you that the fans for the opposition will be hollering as loud as their lungs will allow at the thought of dethroning the Rebels. It was downright embarrassing at times tonight when about 40 Brainerd fans stood the whole game and outcheered the much bigger crowd on the home side. We can’t let this happen again. A question for a Maryville fan that might know: is there any reason that the student section couldn’t move to the middle of the stadium for the playoff games? Am I correct that the boosters’ section isn’t reserved for playoff games? I have never been in approval of sticking the students down in the end zone section of the stands, but to do so during the playoffs is ridiculous and missing out on a great opportunity to fire up the crowd and the team. Is it possible to get this done for next weeks Rhea County game?

Okay. Before you start, yes I know that both teams have a long way to go before this game could ever happen - and there are MANY teams that would like to de-throne either team. But we all know that this game is in the back of our minds. What if these two teams were to meet today? How would they match up right now? Admitedly, being a Maryville fan and not seeing much about Motown West on local TV, I don't know much about them. Maybe the board can help us get acquainted - you know, just in case :justwrestle:

FYI: RebelRaider's cocky attitude - which, don't get me wrong, is his right to have on a sports-based message board - doesn't reflect the attitude of all Maryville fans. Most of us prefer a little more subtle pride and support of our team; with more appreciation of our opponents abilities and desire to upset us. Being overpowered by a team that is just a better team doesn't make you "terrible". RebelRaider....let's not give Motown West or anyone else motivational quotes that they can post on their board if they end up pulling everything together and re-playing us again in the playoffs.
