  1. When did i say ignorant statement???, I may have but i haven't found it, plus the reason they are not all wrestling is because they do not all know the benefits, hence the point of this post, to spread the word.
  2. Eddie Apparently you have not heard of wrestling in New Jersey, and Pennsylvania, and most of the northern states. Plus last time i checked, which is an olympic sport dating back to the ancient times...., do you know yet, wrestling. I did not say in all cases it was harder conditioning, i said on average. Also, more energy is expended in a wrestling match, it is man on man, and you can't blame someone else for a mistake. Ok, this has gotten too much off topic, unless you wrestle don't insult the sport and say no one cares, this is the south and football is big. However, people do care, therefore no one is a huge overstatement, the support is growing. Did you wrestle, have you seen a football player suffer from what he learned in wrestling. I doubt you have, weight loss is not required. What is wrong with conditioning, speed, explosiveness, and the like in the offseason of football. As far as i am concerned you have just gotten on here to insult the sport of wrestling and put it down. If you have some facts showing that wrestling and football are nothing alike and do not tie in together, go ahead post them, but do not insult a sport that you do not know about. As was said earlier, every muscle group is used in wrestling, and there are no time outs or people to pick up the slack and substitute in when you get in trouble. And the weight normally lost in wrestling is excessive body weight, and the new rules do keep someone from losing below a healthy weight. I just want you to answer this question without insult, if you can control yourself. In what way do the skills learned in wrestling effect a football player in a negative way, and mind you, weight is now monitored safely? Lets get back on topic how about it. Wrestling, a sport mentioned in the Bible cannot be wrong.
  3. Eddie H. I assume you are posting on how the two sports have nothing in common because you wrestled and it did not help in football, right.... I did not think so, you are not speaking from experience, and i would not dare to say what or where you are speaking from or out of, but it is not logic. The proof is there, so what if alot of NFL players played bball or piano, the thread is not about percentage that play what sports, its about how wrestling improves football players. Many football players came out for wrestling after the season, and they could not do the conditioning like the wrestlers could, they had to work to get in shape. Wrestling shape on average is better than condition in football. Think about it, in wrestling you get in shape, and you also have to take responsibility for your actions, there is no one to blame when you lose. Wrestling ties into life as well, the lessons i learned on the mat have helped me to this day, through everything. I never played football, and i am not claiming it helped me in football, but the people who did wrestle and play football, have moved up on the depth chart. You cannot argue with facts. I would assume that by reading all the stories about how it helps would open your mind, but whatever, and by the way, the "underwear" is called a singlet. Say what you want about wrestling, i am wrestling in college, and it has taught me discipline needed to succeed in life. Oh and i resentt he statement of little athletic ability, apparently you have no clue about the sport. Wrestling, a sport mentioned in the Bible cannot be wrong.
  4. Awesome post, that truly is courage, and a vivid description at that.
  5. From the games i have seen, Lindsay (Alcoa) and Tallent (Maryville) are good, and so is Baker (Maryville). Shiverdecker has failed to really impress me since they played Hopkinsville. Fulton he did decent, but so far has not lived up to the first game.
  6. "Kiss the rings tricks"?? Anyway, what they were saying is they would not be challenged on their way to the state game. What they meant was that Alcoa would not be ready to have their starters play all four. I do not agree with it, but i do believe thats what they meant. I believ we will at least be challenged a little by Loudon, and most likly in the semis. Alcoa has shown that they can play anyone, not that they will always win. They would be stomped by teams like Riverdale, and MAryville gave it to us, but in 2 a, the answer to this thread is simple. ONLY ALCOA CAN BEAT ALCOA, it is up to them to play. We will be able to get ready for the state game. "Kiss the rings tricks", seriously, come on, use english, represent Alcoa with class.
  7. I too thought Goodpasture was in our region. When did that change, and also, is Tyner as good as in the past, i thought they struggled some this year. I still think the playoffs will be enough to keep them on their toes untill the State game.
  8. In my opinion Alcoa will step it up before the state game, they won't all be easy. We will face a loudon team out for revenge most likly, and possibly David Lipscomb. They will be ready to go when the time comes, maybe the lack of super hard games will save them injuries and being wore down. If they play their hardest against the easy teams, they will be warm and ready, and i think they know what their mission is and how to succeed. Either way it will be interesting. Alcoa 49 Wartburg 12 Why did they lock the wartburg thread.
  9. I am pretty sure i see easy walk in this post, not to insult anyone. I am just saying, Alcoa has worked hard and will continue to do so. If they become more disciplined, they can do alot more, and i believe they made that step in the McCalie game. When i said that the west has it coming again, i am not meaning a blowout, i mean a hard fought game in which Alcoa should come out in top. Alcoa is a good team, and they can play with most teams, but they are not unbeatable, maryville proved that. I just hope that come December i can be watching Alcoa and Maryville winning their respective classifications, and hopefully Alcoa will have only one loss, and maryville none. Oh and this week Wartburg has it coming to them. And i know you probably meant an easy walk through the playoffs, but i figure it never hurts to see what other teams they have played that have not been easy, and then see how they fared against them. The playoffs could be a challenge, injuries happen, i hope not, and anything can happen on any friday. I was just saying that Alcoa has no had it easy, and an easy walk is an understatement, the whole seaon leads to the title game, its not all about the playoffs, they are just the final stretch. Go Alcoa
  10. We have not had an easy walk. I do not know if the team from kentucky was that good this year, but they were the last, then we played Maryville, and that was far from easy, and yes, i know we lost, but it was a learning experience. We shut down a good CAK quarterback, beat a solid Loudon team, and then put up 45 on McCAlie. Yes, when you look at the scores it appears simple, you may even think those teams stunk, but is it possible that maybe Alcoa took their hard schedule and played like a championship team that they should and hopefully will be. Think about that, then say our schedule is easy, the ret of it is easy no doubt, but we will find out in Decmber how good we really are, but from what i have seen, West Tennessee has it coming again.
  11. Alcoa is without a doubt second best, too bad William Blount backed out, but if they did play us, it would be another W for our record, they just don't have the ability.
  12. Looks like Alcoa had a nice win, i hope i don't hear about any unsportsman likes though, but they must of got it together because that is a huge win for them , the schedule gets easier now. Congrats to both alcoa and maryville tonight. I wish i could have seen the game.
  13. Did McCallie just have a fluke against Powell, or were they mismatched.
  14. I graduated from Alcoa, and i must say they are lacking discipline from the past. Have not seen McCallie so i do not know how good they are, but the whole Maryville beats Powell, Powell beats McCalie, Alcoa must beat McCalie, is not correct, teams can have bad games, and while it is some indication, it is not a definite. I do believe Alcoa will win, not a blowout, probably 10 points or so. But Alcoa needs to get their act together and score touchdowns with class. Their actions remind me of a Semi Final game in 2001 against Goodpasture, their attitude and personal fouls turned costly in a close game. Personal fouls and excessive celebration could cost Alcoa against McCallie, or any other good team. Nothing looks as dumb as pointless bragging and celebration. A sack and some celebrating is okay, and there are limits, by no means do i mean no fun. Chest bump, do all you want, just don't superman dive into the endzone. All that said, if Alcoa plays their best game, they will win, pointless fouls and it will be a long night. Go Alcoa. Oh, and i would consider Maryville a high caliber team, so please don't say we haven't played any, McCalie couldn't hang with Maryville. I believe Alcoa toughs this one out, and gets on to the playoff warmup rounds, after McCalie, i see no real threat, but anything could happen, if Alcoa gets ahead of themselves. Alcoa 27 McCalie 17
  15. Well, apparently Alcoa took care of business. I wish i could have went to that one, but college has me too busy. Good job Alcoa. The score seems to remind me of the highly anticipated Rockwood game last year. It sounded like a good game, congrats on the shutout. The season doesn't get easier for Alcoa yet, i believe they play McCalie next week, can't make it to that one, but they better bring their best game. Go Alcoa Brad
  16. How can i change my screen name, since i am now in college.
  17. In defense of Alcoa and in response to revjj1. I am not about to say that Brandon would have won the Maryville game, he may be a 7-10 point difference, and a psychological boost, but he won't win a game by himself. It is a team. And i hope to see Maryville playing for state and being undefeated doing so, and i want to see alcoa there with just one loss. There is no reason to hate maryville because they beat us. Its good to say, "Hey our county has 2 champions". Why hate another team for beating you, cheer them on, unless they are playing Alcoa. The dumbest stickers i have ever seen are "My favorite team is Alcoa and whoever is playing maryville". We lost, let's drop it, Go alcoa, go maryville. And Alcoa hands it to Loudon. Brad
  18. I keep seeing Loudon has heart, Loudon has heart, well so does Alcoa. I am not saying that Loudon lacks it, but i am just saying that Alcoa isn't playing emotionless. I saw alot of emotion out of Alcoa at the Fulton game, they are playing with purpose, they want to end this year with the only loss being to the respected Maryville Rebels, Loudon, you may be good but i don't believe this is your year. You all will finish second in the region and lose to Alcoa again in November. Alcoa 41 Loudon 13
  19. The first few minutes i thought "Hey, this may be a close defensive game", then Alcoa scored, and scored and scored. It appeared that Fulton just quit, Warren rattled their QB's who appeared to not know what was going on, and #7 for Fulton was so worked up after a catch tha they had to call timeout to get the play, they didn't appear to be a team. I don't know who #7 is, but well, i won't say anything bad, but he seemed a little, showy, although Alcoa did too, on their td's. #7 just reminded me of a Fulton wrestler, so i won't hold that against him, FUlton needs to step it up, and Alcoa needs to stop the excessive celebration, in a close game missed field goals can be costly, and kicking an extra point after excessive celebration could hurt, although Guzzo stepped up and nailed them, he has greatly improved. Even though Alcoa won, i haven't seen the Alcoa team of last year, but they are getting closer.
  20. I agree. Alcoa is that good, but a good Fulton team would have done better, they were that bad, i would say are, but they just need to find a QB, i don't see them winning state this year, Good job alcoa.
  21. Fulton floundered. They gave up and quit, they couldn't stop the D Line of Alcoa, and they were simply whipped, their QB looked afraid, and number 7 seemed a little, well i won't go there. Lanxster had a good TD, and Warren stood out. Sommers had a great int. and Fulton never stood a chance, they didn't score untill Alcoa was playing the backups, including one if not more freshman. Fulton needs stability, Alcoa needs to look to Loudon.
  22. Good point. It is true that only morristown west has beat maryville lately, and doesn't matter how much anyone dislikes maryville, the skill, and intelligence of George Quarles can never be doubted. He is the best coach there is, in terms of creating game plays, even when he loses half his team. Good luck to maryville the rest of the year, and Alcoa beats Fulton, Dustin gets it going. Alcoa 35 Fulton 21
  23. I was at the game and i left with about 6 to go, and it was 49 to 7, it was a runaway and quite honestly Cak didn't match up at all, and Warren came back with something to prove, it looked like a good tune up for a tough fulton game next week. That is when Alcoa will be tested, but i believe they win it also.
  24. I have to say that Nic Shields sticks out, i haven't seen him wrestle like a freshman all year, if i didn't know better i'd swear he was an upperclassman, look for him this year in state.
  25. What teams will be at the Halls Invitational on th 15th, i heard that South Doyle is having one the same day.
