  1. That is not true, documented ones include players on campus during dead period, observing players at a summer AAU contest (team was on probationary status for a time) and losing a win one year due to playing an ineligible player.  Let the justification and minimizing begin, but those are TSSAA rules.  Truth is allowed, you just have to know how to sift fact from fiction.

...LIKE A DOG WITH A BONE, for Goodness sake!! We could really use you for important matters, Kbrks.

  2. If you have reliable sources and know the facts, then simply turn them in to the TSSAA and let them do their job.  If not, then your really have nothing to post here.  I do believe CPA's basketball players come in MS, although there are 4-5 that have been there since Kindergarten.  I also believe CPA has an advantage with the fact basketball AAU is such a high exposure sport and all players, coaches, etc know Drew and it gives CPA an opportunity for exposure.  I don't however believe CPA cheats, or unfairly recruites outside of what TSSAA allows.  If they do, I am sure one day they will get caught.  Otherwise, I think this post by CPA Chaingang lays it out perfectly.  See below.

Basketball is a bit of a different animal but OK, here is how you do it…. Hire a head coach that was a standout SEC guard, who lives and breathes basketball and the development of boys into great players and even more importantly, great young men. Hire a coach that has such a charisma that he is often hired to do college basketball play-by-play on TV and college basketball talk shows. Hire a coach that demands hard work from his team and is willing to travel with them to play preseason tournaments against some of the nation’s finest competition. Hire a coach that is so committed to his family that he is willing to stay a high school coach so he can watch his five children, two of which are adopted grow up. Watch as your coach’s reputation spreads throughout the country regarding his coaching talent and character and then sit back and watch as parents are so attracted to him that they choose to uproot house and home so their son who loves the game of basketball can play for a man like Coach Maddox. It is pretty much that simple. CPA has achieved the same thing for football in Ingle Martin. You can choose to hate CPA or learn from them. Make great hires of great men.

  3. Just being realistic and yes I recognize you to be a bitter CPA hater also without credibility

Oh, contrare! I'm not a CPA hater at all. As far as my credibility, you wouldn't know a thing about that because I choose to keep most of what I know to myself rather than fuel the Coacht fire. I will say that the current athletic atmosphere at CPA is a far cry from just a few years ago. I preferred the days when a CPA kid could play a sport and be a part of a team with a chance of playtime. The only kids I recognize now on the basketball team are riding the pines.

  4. All I know is that this guy who used to call himself a coach and for some reason can't find work in the field still likes to dream.... much like a 8 year old does about being a super hero......but only to realize they aren't real......unfortunately......it becomes a bitter tale of false hope and blame.......seems this guy who thought he was a coach....but can't even hold a job.....should re-think he motives on life in general.....

Harsh words. Are you an adult with a sad little life? Kbrks has basketball knowledge and certainly did better than the AD who was the previous coach.

  5. Anyone that knows me, knows that I disagree on public schools and private schools playing in the same division. Having said that, congratulations to Coach Pickens and the Lipscomb team. Regardless of what type of school, we were outplayed and outcoached Tuesday night. Good luck to both teams!

Now that is class! East Lit got to the finals of the State last year having plowed through public AND private schools. Things happen...one less than stellar game and you're out. It happens to publics and privates. Thanks for being "stand up" about it. East Lit had a great year!

  6. CPA heads to the 10AA district championship game Tuesday night against East Lit. CPA made it look pretty easy tonight against Maplewood. Maplewood has some very good players, but they just couldn't get shots to drop. Stratford has a nice gym for the tournaments. Couldn't tell you the final score since we left with about 5 minutes to go. CPA was up about 25 though.

  7. Question...can you jump to DII anytime? Seems like you commit for X amount of years to DI or DII. I do believe CPA should go ahead and get in DII; it is inevitable that they go there. I have heard Maddox say on the radio (when he was on 104.5 in recent years) that he wants to coach at the college level only to backtrack a bit by saying he loved being at CPA. I see him riding the "Jalen train" to its end in 2 years and then moving on.

  8. One would think wouldn't they, but the reality doesn't necessarily support it, there are too many dynamics involved in the college recruiting process. Don't forget now the original response was to the post that used the term "great (hs) players." And secondly, how many college scholarships have been secured due to the HS coach for the "lesser" players. Do you have any names?

I'd say not many scholarships have been obtained for the "lesser" player. The opportunity to play should be the first desire; a scholarship would be the icing on the cake.
