  1. I wouldn't believe it if I didn't see it....I like it!
  2. Congrats to William Blount on the win!
  3. Grad, I would agree with you BUT there as been to many close games this year decided on an officials call. There has been 3 the I know of, but I'm sure there is more. There was a 5 down play in the Red Bank vs Rhea County game. Whos fault is that? And of course, lets don't even start on the Soddy vs Ooltewah game. Farragut vs William Blount was the other. But this is not an officials thread so I'll shut up now....
  4. With a score of 30 to 14, you really can't blame the refs...
  5. This is the most quiet the Ooltewah fans have been all year…
  6. For your reading pleasure. Out of the chatt times.... How about that 61 yard punt? Soddy-Daisy temporarily hurt its chances at winning the Region 2-5A high school football championship by losing at Ooltewah last week, but the Trojans showed Friday they’re looking forward and not back. Touchdowns in its first two possessions got host Soddy-Daisy started toward a 35-3 victory over Farragut. A win at Oak Ridge would create a tie for first. "They were upset and wanted to come back and redeem themselves," Soddy-Daisy coach To m We a t hers said of his players’ response to last week’s loss. "We had a good week of practice. I thought we were ready." When reflecting on last week, Soddy-Daisy wide receiver Eric Atchley said, "We felt like we played better than Ooltewah. They did a really good job of taking care of their opportunities, but we think we’re the better team and we wanted to prove it tonight." Atchley gave Soddy-Daisy (8-1, 5-1) the early lead with an 8-yard catch for a touchdown at 7:52 of the first quarter. Four minutes later, quarterback Gary Orr connected with Chris Ricketts on a bomb down the middle that covered 57 yards to increase the lead. The Admirals’ points came on Thomas Riddle’s 50-yard field goal at 10:21 of the second quarter. Unfazed, the Trojans responded with a 12-play, 80-yard drive for a 21-3 lead. Orr completed passes to seven receivers and finished 14-of-23 for 268 yards, although he did throw two interceptions. Atchley had 106 receiving yards, and the last two of his four receptions were a diving catch off a deflection and a 34-yard touchdown in which he wrestled the ball away from a defender near the 5. "We watched tape on them and saw where they had some weaknesses," Atchley said. "Between the pass and the run, you’re going to have to honor one or the other." Linebacker Kyle Crawford scored the last touchdown on a 36-yard return of his second interception. Nic Coulter was 5-for-5 on extra points and Austin Stanley had a 61-yard punt and put another out of bounds at the 2. "The defense played so good all night," Weathers said. "We made some mistakes offensively, but the defense covered up for us. We made some good offensive plays, too. Our special teams were good. We tended to do the little things tonight." The biggest drawback for Soddy-Daisy was its running game, or lack of it. Reserve fullback Justin Hart, who played from the second quarter on after starter Andy Fuller left with a gash in the back of his head, led with 17 yards on eight carries — one for a touchdown. "We’re struggling there a little bit, but we’re going to keep working on it," Weathers said. Farragut fell to 7-2, 4-2 in the region.
  7. Come on now grad....I think our defense deserves a little more credit than that
  8. Why not just say good game, congratulations on your victory and we'll see you next year? and what fun would that be????
  9. Use the run to set up the pass. Farragut has some trouble with the pass. They will bring the linebackers in and BAM pass for the 1st down.
  10. He knocked MOMO (our running back) around pretty good!
  11. Grad, was there any recruiting on your brother? Ben had a few calls from Baylor but just couldn't bring himself to leave Soddy Daisy.
  12. Your offence better get clicking! The owls score on some of the craziest things. Like a blocked field goal or an 85 yard run. Those kinds of scores sting you a little. You beat the owls by controlling the clock. You have a great running back that at times gained 5 to 6 yards a carry. You have some quick guys on defense so that should be OK. I'm not saying it won't be tough, but you can hang. We didn't score an offensive touchdown in the 2nd half, they were both defensive. I don't think your defense expected such an explosive passing attack. Just get that offence going and control the clock!
  13. Yes, your linebackers did have a good game. They shut our run game down. The passing is what got you. Also, your offence never really got going. They switched QBs all night. With 5 min to go, 2 different QBs got picked off inside Farraguts 20 yard line, One was ran in for 6 and the other wasn't. It took 2 plays later for the 6. We fumbled a kick off twice and farragut recovered one of those on our 20. That is where the goal line stand came to play.
  14. Oh, my bad. I thought he meant Soddy players/fans did something bad...
  15. Gary Orr and Kyle Crawford will never forget "Senior Night'' at Soddy-Daisy High School. Orr, Soddy-Daisy's senior quarterback, was outstanding in the Trojans' 35-3 Region 3-5A victory over Knoxville Farragut. He completed 14-of-22 passes for 280 yards and three touchdowns. Crawford, a senior linebacker, directed the Trojans' defense that limited Farragut to 94 yards rushing and 26 passing. He also intercepted two passes, returning both for touchdowns. His first one was called back by a penalty, but the second went for 45 yards and lifted Soddy-Daisy to its final margin of victory. After its victory over Ooltewah on Friday night, Oak Ridge leads the region standings with no losses. Soddy-Daisy and Ooltewah now have one loss each and Farragut has two losses. Next week, Soddy-Daisy plays at Oak Ridge and Farragut plays at Ooltewah. All four teams have already qualified for the state football playoffs. The seedings will be determined next week. After the game, Soddy-Daisy coach Tom Weathers had two words for his 8-1 Trojans, "I'm happy.'' Later, Weathers said, "I'd love to play that Ooltewah game over. I know it's not nice to say that, but we played so good tonight, especially the defense. That goal-line stand was outstanding.'' With Soddy-Daisy leading 21-3, Oak Ridge had a first-and-10 at the Trojans' 12. Soddy-Daisy held at the 3 with 3:45 left in the game. "We're still in the running,'' Weathers said about the region standings. "Like all coaches say, we'll take them one game at a time, but we're shooting for the big marbles.'' Orr threw 9- and 34-yard touchdown passes to Eric Atchley and connected with Chris Ricketts on a 67-yard scoring toss. Soddy-Daisy's other touchdown came on a 2-yard run by Justin Hart. "I really didn't think about it being Senior Night,'' Orr said. "No, not really. We knew Farragut had only lost by 21-13 to Oak Ridge last week and that we had to play hard to win. And we did. "Their defense was determined to stop the run tonight, so I'm glad the passing game was on.'' Soddy-Daisy's defense gave up only a 50-yard field goal to Farragut's Thomas Riddle. "That was awesome,'' Crawford said. "Those are my first two picks ever. "The defense came to play tonight. Nothing we did was wrong except for giving up that long field goal. We were hungry tonight. We didn't like the taste of losing.'' 16. I don't hate ooltewah. Let me try and explain... If ooltewah loses to oak Ridge and Farragut and if Soddy wins out. We are 1st in the region. Which means we get a better play off spot. OK? But, I will admit, I do pick on ooltewah more than others. Last year your were 3-7 and this year you guys think (thought) you couldn't be beat. You have to earn talk like that and you have yet to earn it. You watch how I treat Oak Ridge fans this week. With respect. They've earned it.
  17. I know I get on here and sometimes get carried away, but let me say right now that I hope he is OK, heals up and plays next Friday.
  18. I would love that! The tradition at Oak Ridge is a long one. Despite what some of you might think, tradition does help you win games. It’s called intimidation.
  19. And your point is?? Stop your relentless trash talk every week and I'll give you guys some respect.
  20. At what point did Caldwell stop playing?
  21. Wow, what a night!!!! 1. Soddy came out fired up and scored 21 points before the half and just flat out dominated Farragut. 2. I had a great conversation with Ultimatefan on the 50 after the game. Class act that man! 3. Ooltewah got beat. The defense may have played there best game of the year and the offence is really clicking. Looking forward to staying in town this Friday! Way to go Trojans!!!!
  22. Well, well, well.......What goes around comes around. I see Caldwell didn't play much, proves my point nicely, "take the caldwell kid out and it's a different team". On a serious note, I hope he is OK. It sounds like he may be hurt. See you in the playoffs....I hope
  23. Seventeen players ejected after Loudon-Gibbs brawl By PAUL MCAFEE, Special to the News Sentinel October 22, 2004 Loudon High School won a huge Region 2-3A football game Thursday night at Gibbs, but the outcome was tainted by a second-half brawl that resulted in 10 players from Loudon and seven from Gibbs ejected. A Loudon assistant coach, whose name was not revealed, was also ejected after drawing two unsportsmanlike penalties late in the game for arguing a personal foul. As for the game, Charlie Hampton scored on a 2-yard run and added a two-point conversion run with 3:45 left in a wild 15-14 victory for Loudon. Gibbs' kicker Derek Cole came up just short on a 40-yard field goal attempt with 55 seconds to play. Neither head coach would reveal the names of the ejected players. A referee refused to comment on the situation, saying only "We don't need any reporters in our locker room." Loudon coach Jeff Harig said he doesn't expect his players to be available next week against Lenoir City under TSSAA rules governing fighting. "It is my understanding that players who are ejected have to miss the next game," said Harig, whose team remains in contention for a playoff spot with a 2-5 region record and 2-7 overall. "With that many players out, it will be tough." Gibbs (4-5, 2-4) plays at Fulton next week. The fight broke out between two players with less than 1:50 left in the third quarter after Loudon returned a kickoff. The brawl quickly escalated, with a number of players from both squads involved. The referees needed several minutes to sort out the situation before announcing the ejections. "What can you say?" Harig said. "We are both better than that. Frustrations boiled over. I don't condone this. We just have to go by what the referee said." Gibbs coach Randy Carroll echoed the sentiment of Harig. "I don't know what will happen. It's not my decision," he said. "I really hate this happened with all the ejections. There is no place for that in high school football. I think the officials did as good a job as they could have considering people were everywhere." Gibbs led 6-0 before the fight. Linebacker J.R. Day recovered a fumble at the Loudon 5-yard-line and fought his way into the end zone. The extra-point try was no good. Following the fight, Loudon moved 70 yards and scored on a 20-yard pass from Cody Fritts to Taylor Eldridge. Gibbs responded with a 74-yard TD pass from Tyler Kitts to Shaun Lyon. Kitts then passed to Logan Dockins for two points to give the Eagles a 14-7 lead at 8:43. The Redskins then moved 68 yards for the winning score.
