    USJ vs JCS

Great, long drive by USJ to open the second half. Two point conversion good 14-7 USJ.

    USJ vs JCS

7-6 JCS at halftime. 12-13 penalties on USJ so far. Some questionable calls in there but not all of them. Close game but hoping for a better played game in the second half!

    USJ vs JCS

3-0 USJ end of first. Sloppy game so far - particularly by USJ. Knew JCS had weapons on offense but impressed by their defense.

    USJ vs JCS

Two undefeated teams! JCS has easily handled a pretty light schedule so far, but look to have multiple serious weapons on offense. You know they'll have revenge on their minds after last year too. USJ has dominated their opponents so far. I think they're a little more stout up front and will have the best athlete in the field at #1 who is a threat to go the distance every time he touches the ball. USJ's secondary has yet to be tested like they will be this week though. If Couch Stroup is able to come back in the fold I think USJ is about 7 points better thanks to their size up front. Looking forward to a great game!
  5. BigEdMo, I think the toughness USJ shows comes directly from the head coach. Stroup is a good man, but he does have an edge about him. The same was true with Marley, though of course he had a whole lot of edge! I think having a little bit of that really benefits the boys with it being a private school and blah blah. It was something I thought we'd lost under Bradley. It took Stroup a couple years but it's back now in spades. Have to admit I thought for a moment we might be in for a barn burner when TCA threw that bomb TD pass. Never can count you guys out to figure out an offense over the course of the season. This one was lopsided, but the cupboard isn't bare. Good luck to the Lions the rest of the year!
  6. Trinity has no answer for USJ's speed to say the least. 45-7 at half.
  7. Maybe next year we can organize a blood donation drive and settle once and for all which fan base has the thinner skin? I'll say USJ 28-0 with TCA putting up a good fight in the trenches but USJ wears them down and makes some big plays in the second half.
  8. USJ fan here and I was hoping he was a senior last year! Tough runner.
  9. My spies tell me that TCA's anti-Covid measures now include social distancing on coacht... TCA looks solid, though not spectacular. Good size up front and the defense swarms well. I don't think they have the playmakers to put up many points against a stout USJ D though. At the same time, their D looks tough enough to force USJ to put together some drives and execute better than they have the first two games. I'll say 28-3 USJ in a game that will feel a little closer than the score will look.
  10. 35-3 final. Nice win for USJ though that offense will definitely need to tighten up. Passing game was a little off besides the big plays. Was impressed by the two backup running backs. UC looked like a rebuilding team playing their first game against a Cookeville caliber team. UC has some quality backs, and their line fought hard even though they were overmatched. Could definitely see them improving as the year goes on, but will be tough to make too much noise being so one dimensional.
  11. 21-3 USJ but Union City has settled down a bit, broke a couple nice runs and got a couple stops.

  13. This one might get ugly. Break out the grey Poupon boys!
  14. Don't know enough about UC now other than respecting their history but let me say this... Grey Poupon is a second rate mustard. Anybody worth their truffle salt at USJ is having fresh Pommery Moutarde de Meaux imported every month. My Lamborghini wouldn't even crank if there was a jar of anything else in the passenger seat (no trunk)... Looking forward to this one! Classic West Tennessee matchup. USJ looked stout in the opener but not sure if the offense will be clicking yet to blow out any quality opponent. I'll be a sport and say USJ wins a battle in the trenches 28-7.
  15. It's definitely been the Achilles heel in a few championship games. Ironically enough the one year we had the beef (Trey Smith's senior year) we were probably one skill guy short. Of course Lausanne was a buzz saw...
  16. Agree with all this. Also another reason I'm excited about Stroup and his ability to bring players in from the hallways. A few extra guys here and there can plug a hole and be the difference between a gold and silver ball. Who knows if Smith would've had two ACLs and been able to buy some time on a couple plays they might be champs right now. This was a really really good team with a couple flaws, and DA had their number. Those boys left it all on the field and played to the max of their ability. Can't ask for more!
  17. As a fan, I would rather see them in DII-AA. You get to see great teams and big-time players every week. I don't mean that as a knock in DII-A. Its just that in most years CPA, Webb, Lausanne, etc. are some of the top teams in the whole state. My kids aren't football age though so no skin in the game! The enrollment is what it is though. As for JCS, we'll see. Those players that transferred are good kids, but I bet they wished they were playing ball on Thursday instead of watching TV.
  18. No worries, brother. Football season isn't even over yet and already missing it!
  19. Just shaking the tree and look what fell out! How you like them apples? In all seriousness, TCA has a good coaching stuff and has put out some great players over the years...can't wait to see them all wearing baby blue!!!
  20. The real question is: if TCA goes 3-4 years without making the playoffs in DII, will y'all have the numbers to field a team or will you have to disband the program?
  21. This is so stupid. They were just there and competed fine. You heel biters should spend more time thinking about sniffing the playoffs in II-A before you worry about USJ maybe playing in II-AA again.
  22. Feels like USJ is due for some karma championships at this point. With the pieces they're putting into place over there wouldn't be surprised one day if they get enough of the right athletes playing and reel off 3-4 in a row.
  23. Great high school football player. DA's QB had a similar running style in a way as well. Neither guy are the fastest, but their size combined with their ability to shift and make little moves before contact makes them very difficult to bring down. DA was falling forward after the tackle all game.
  24. I probably would've held my flag on that roughing the passer call, but USJ had chance after chance and couldn't take advantage. All credit to DA!
