  1. Tyler Burns--He is a junior this year. He's not playing highschool. He played for the Nashville Metro's Reserve team last year, and will be playing for them again this year. He came on as a sub in one of the Metro's preseason games (youngest player ever to do so). I forget who they were playing at the time. This kids amazing. His agility is second to none. He could stand to work on his aggressivness though. And he's still a bit skinny.
  2. I played against #17 for Spring Hill last night(Fairview vs. Spring Hill:Sectional match); she is a quality player. She was very fast, and was playing with a hurt hamstring. She was very unselfish. She relyed mostly on her speed to beat our defense, and she makes very good runs into space; the ball usually ends up where she makes her run. She had a very nice first touch and good left to right chops. The best part of her game for me was that she was a very nice player. She played hard and tough but she wasn't trying to be dirty or to foul anyone. Also, if she got fouled, i never heard her regress into the tired response so common in girls soccer--calling someone the Bword or dropping an F bomb or anything like that. She was very amiable on the field and off. I talked to her after the game and she said that she's new to the area and plays for TNFC. Great game Spring Hill, good luck in Chattanooga!
  3. FRA 6 Fview 0. The game was tied 0-0 at the end of the first half, but FRA put two or three in pretty soon after the 2nd half started, and kept it up throughout the half. Fview pulled all but 4 starters for about the last 15-20 minutes to save them for Saturday's game vs. Spring Hill. The weather and field conditions were horrible; cold, rainy, and soaking wet. The field was basically almost a lake before the game even started! All players did well to play under control and not to accidentally hurt anyone in those bad conditions. Great job FRA and Fairview! FRA has a great team, w/o Fairviews awesome goalkeeper (Olivia Walter, 2 in State behind Kelly Dyer, signed with Butler University[D1] in Indiana), who knows what the score could have been! You guys (FRA) have a great team, good luck in the next round! We'll cheer for a three-peat for you! : ) Lets hope none of us ever have to play in such mserable conditions ever again! Haha, although...I tried this out tonight while playing. get some plastic bread bags and stick your feet (already in your undersocks) in them and just tape them around the ankle/little round the foot to keep it from slipping then put your game sock then cleats over that. I did it and my feet were toasty and warm, whereas a lot of my friends said they could barely feel theirs! Random, but i was excited that it worked. Just a thought.... : ) Great Job everyone!!!!!!!!
  4. Ok well whatever you want to call it the name doesn't really matter. Again, what's Spring Hill like? Style of play etc...
  5. Can anyone describe how good Forrest and Spring Hill are? How far are they predicted to advance in the tourney? Fview has to play one of them in the consolation game Saturday, unless they pull off a huge upset and beat FRA. Just wondering what they might be facing...
  6. Perhaps you should read closer, when i said i was surprised that i have never seen any of you playng club, i followed it with "you should!". That means i think that you have some good players, and that i was impressed because, since i hadn't seen any of you in the club scene, it seemed like that talent was cultivated without help from higher level coaching and competition that comes with playing club--a testament to your teams work ethic and training. That would normally be interpreted as a compliment. What would be wrong with a Harpeth vs. MC final? You were exactly right, no Fairview. I'm on Fairview's team, so naturally i wanted to be in the final. You seem to have a problem with the Clarksville Academy vs. Fairview Final b/c your team wasn't in it. Should i hope for my team to lose? Should you hope for your team to lose? No. However, I would have been able to take a loss in the semifinal with better sportsmanship than i witnessed your fans and players doing. I wouldn't have come to the final to heckle and abuse the players on the team that knocked mine out of the tournament as some of you guys did on Saturday. If you had beaten us, i would have accepted it and moved on, and hoped that you win the final because that would mean that my team had lost to the best team in the district. It's better than losing to the runner up don't you think? Also, you seem upset that we marked your best player. It's called tactics. If you play a team with a player who has scored in about every game they have played, the smart thing to do is mark her, so she doesn't score on you. Mont. Central marked our leading scorer for the whole game when we played them in the reg. season and shut her down. It was the smart thing to do, she didn't score, and they won 3-1. We marked your best player, she didn't score, we did, we won. Tactics. It's how games are won. It's not cheating, so i would have to say that we played her straight up. You had more shots, you had a one man advantage for 25 minutes in the second half, we capitalized on our chances, you didn't and so we won. I guess i would be surprised that my team didn't win if we had way more shots and a one man advantage too, so i understand your frustration. Well, "tomorrow at 11' has come and gone, but CA didn't take it to us. They missed more PK's than we did, we scored more PK's than they did. We won fair and square. Or was that win a fluke too? You guys had a great season, don't sully your accomplishments with poor sportsmanship and bitterness. Just be proud you did as well as you did and move on. It sounds to me like you have a lot more to be proud of (school record for wins!) than to complain about.
  7. Last year Harpeth beat Fairview 3-1 in the regular season, but Fairview came back and beat them 5-0 in the district final. I'm not playing down the abilities of Mont. Central's team, but i am contesting the insinuation that Fairview's win was a fluke. The conditions were equally bad (and cold, rainy, wet, muddy and MISERABLE!) for both teams. Mont. C has some very skilled players, i'm surprised i've never seen any of them playing club before; they should! It definantly stank that they had to play two games in two nights. However, I for one, was not hoping for a Montgomery Central v. Harpeth final. haha. Especially since i play for Fairview. Great job to everyone. Oh, and on a side note, White House Heritage, you guys got a lot better this year! We beat you 10-1 last year, and you held us at 1-0 till halftime, and we only beat you 4-0! Great progress!
  8. Well, i've only seen one game so I can't judge as to the play in your others. Although, it can't be that hard to possess around teams that you beat with a margin of at least 5 goals to zero, and only one or two without a losing record. Once again, it's hard to judge a team's post-season potential when they haven't really had any competition even marginally close to that of who they will face in the region. It will be fun to see that test though, if you do advance out of your district. (yours/theirs whatever...)
  9. I meant to say that their defenders stink to the ball, not stink. As in, the shift to whatever side the ball is on, and leave their marks on the far side. hehe, don't know where the stink came from, but it won't let me edit it.So, you'll just have to bear with me. And pretend that it doesn't say "stink to the ball" in my original post.
  10. Having played against Mont. Central, let me say that yes, while they do have a good chance of making it out of their district this season (not hard, the competition isn't that tough) I don't believe that they can make it with the likes of FRA or CPA. They are an agressive team with good posession when they get the ball up front, but until that point, it's just a big game of "kick-ball". They don't have the tactics or marking ability to get past the likes of FRA w/ their poise and slew of great players and/or CPA with Rita Spelling et al. Their defense tends to stink to the ball, so creative players like R. Spelling will take advantage of that.Although, there is always the chance of a quite unlooked for upset like almost happened last year, with CPA just edging past Fairview (MC's district's Champs over Harpeth) 1-0 in overtime. However, i'm sure with the actual style of play/shots on goal there wasn't such a close proximity. When it comes down to it, I predict that greater poise, tactics, and overall skill and experience will win out over Mont. Central if they make into the regional tournament.
  11. is it possible for Fairview Highschool (district 5 champs, region 10) to beat Christ Presbyterian Academy? how is CPA this year? what is their style of play like?
  12. The CAvs FHS game was a good one(fairview lost 2-0); not full of just dum intentional fouls like has happened before. A couple players were injured from both teams ,but i think they're fine now. Fairview lost it's intensity in the 2nd half, and they weren't up to full intensity in the first either. Both teams have some good players. Definantly a much better game than the 7-0 blowout last year in districts. Fairview had some good players up front and in the midfield, and a brilliant goalkeeper. Looks like Fairviews really coming along.
  13. Anyone know what Columbia Academy is like this year? They beat Page, but from what i've seen and heard, Page isn't that great this year due to the rezoning and losing seniors.Col. Acdmy had a solid sweeper last year......Adrian? Is she still there?
  14. ohsgk01,Sep 2 2004 - 08:52 PM] Who is the top keeper in middle tn? 825324940[/snapback] Olivia Walter! She plays for Fairview Highschool; where she is a 2 year starter. she is the ODP State and Regional goalkeeper. She plays for TNFC Premier 88'(i think...whatever the one is that has won state 3 times in a row) She is amazing. She decided to stay at Fairview b/c even though they aren't Frankllin or Father Ryan material, she will have more work in goal and therefore more practice. In Fairview's game against Page last year she had 37 shots on goal and blocked 30 of them. She is truly THE keeper to watch. And she is only a sophmore. In my opinion she is future National Team material.
