  1. Didn't eat or drink anything from the concession stand like a lot of Waverly people who brought their own stuff.

It was Olajuwan. I couldn't remember his name. But I stand corrected he was fouled but he hit the ball off the back of the rim. So it was just the same. The ball bounced almost back to midcourt. I was standing right beside it when it happened. Wannabe (neverbe) coach.

You should of come, oh, but you don't really support Waverly, right? You're too old, so leave everyone alone, if you catch my drift.

I saw someone shoot the ball from the other end of the floor down 3 one time to tie the game. It hit the top of the backboard and bounced clear into the stands. So it was just the same. The refs said it should have gone in so they called it good and the team one in overtime. I also saw a kid almost jump and touch the backboard and I thought I was watching Lebron James dunk over Shaq. I mean, it was just the same. And I think it is hilarious that you think you know who I am. Once again, you are misinformed and we will wait for you to shoot your mouth off again.

  2. yes, the game is at 4. And sssoooo....... Bolivar is really tacky for not agreeing to it. They probably remember escaping with the skin of the teeth last time Waverly came knocking. Actually Waverly should have won. Bolivar had Kemp, Odom, Chism. Ricco Ralston showed that night that he was better than Kemp, he left him standing in his shoes several times, and he dunked over Odom and Chism both 6'9" at the same time. Oh, and Ricco is 6 ft. In case you didn't see it, ask for game films because I have the photo to prove it. /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" /> Thought I would put this here since it's the only popcorn you will see me or a lot of people from Waverly eating.

I'm not saying Waverly is going to win this one. In fact, it's going to be the most difficult task they've had. Bolivar is very talented and has a hostile crowd. Waverly is very, very young. No seniors. But they are very talented and it would delite me so much to beat Bolivar in an upset like they upset us in 04-05.

Papa, your memory is very poor. Ricco Ralston was a great player. His attempt to dunk over Odom and Chism was awesome but the dunk was not successful. He was fouled. You make Waverly and yourself look bad with your false information. Maybe you need to watch the tape before you start shooting your mouth off. By the way, how was the popcorn???

  3. just a bystander, please if you are from waverly shut your mouth and do like your name says....it doesnt matter right now, this is a ballgame ok...it is between the waverly central tigers and the bolivar central tigers...the buses are paid for by the booster clubs which i know because i am on the soccer team and nearly all the money from the booster club is focused toward football, our girls soccer team did not get to travel on buses because there wasn't the money set for them and i doubt our team will get them either...most of the money from the basketball tickets go into the lights, refs, concessions and other things like that...gas costs a lot now days and so do the drivers so lets not worry bout this stuff because it has nothing to do with the games...so now if everyone will clear their minds of the money situations and focus on a big game that will be played tomorrow the waverly tigers have really surprised many teams this season full of sophomores and a few juniors they will be looking to put an upset to a great bolivar team. it will be tough but can be done if we can take care of the ball, hit our shots and play some great defense...so its up to the guys in blue lets get em guys!! show them how 11aa basketball is played!! lets hope for a good clean game, should be good

Hey redneck. Stick to playing soccer because you obviously dont know either. Yeah this thread is stupid because of people that are ignorant of the truth. You are obviously one of them. Ask your coaches if you dont believe it. I will tell you like tigermom, although she seems to be a better fan than you, THEY ARE PAID FROM THE ATHLETIC BUDGET NOT THE BOOSTER CLUB. Again this comes from gate receipts. You say, "I know they are paid by the booster club because I play soccer?" So because you play soccer you know this? Ok, you and papa would make a good team. Oh an all of the money focuses towards football. Ok we are talking basketball. I am sorry your girls soccer players didnt get a bus. The golf team doesnt get a bus either. I will say it again soccer man. The buses are paid for out of gate receipts. SO before you start your redneck ,"hey shut your mouth stuff", get your facts straight. And again, if you dont believe it, go ask the basketball or football coaches and if you do, you will be the one shutting your mouth!

  4. Where do you think the athletic funds come from? It's not the school system. At least in Waverly it's not. Because that is an issue we argue with our school administration about constantly. The athletic funds come from the Booster club fundraisers and members dues. Maybe it's different where you come from and if your school system supports your athletic program like that you should be very proud because not all of us have that support.

I didnt say the school system paid. I said that the school pays out of athletic funds. The athletic funds may come partially from fundraisers and members dues and the booster club helps the athletic teams out but I will say it one more time, the buses are paid out of the school's athletic budget. This is 95% from tickets sold at the home ballgames, NOT booster club fundraisers. Now you can go back and say that well the tickets that are sold are paid for by parents too and you would be right. But the booster club does not pay for our school buses. Not arguing with you, just making sure you understand.

  5. You need to know what your talking about. The Schools here at waverly DO NOT pay for buses to athletic , band or anything else that is related to extracuricular things. The Athletic booster club pays for the athletic events that have to have a bus and the Band booster clubs pays for the band to travel on the bus. We have to pay mileage and bus driver fees. I do know this because I was Band booster president. I am a member of the Athletic Booster so I do know where the funds here at Waverly come from. So you need to talk about things you know about not what you don't.

    Tigermom,

Everything I have read from you, I agree you are a true fan. I will however, let you know, you may be or have been a band booster president but the booster club does not pay for a bus. The money comes out of the athletic budget at each school. That is a fact and if you dont believe it ask the basketball coaches. I dont know about the band, but the basketball teams pay for them out of athletics.

  6. First of all, the bus trips are paid out of the Booster Club and it comes out of the parents pockets that way. No we don't have teachers who drive. In fact we aren't going to have a bus tonight because of such issues.

And the minority statement came from one of your people. Look above Gingahfro. I have no idea what race anybody is that plays and it don't matter to me, we are all God's people.

Once again PapaTiger. The school pays buses. Not the booster club. Your facts are crap and you write for the paper. I will ask again, please go away! Bolivar, this should give you an insight to who started this thread and his credibility! Go ahead papa, what will you start next!

  7. Oh my gosh! PapaTiger strikes again. Here are the facts. Would it have been nice to play both games on one night? yes. But they didnt want to. Their home game, their decision. The game was changed to 4:00 before the talk of the games played on both nights was even brought up. PapaTiger, whoever your source is, is about as unreliable as you are. You are really doing Waverly a great service by this thread when you dont even know what really took place. Im sure if I were coach Kevin I would really like to give Bolivar an incentive to be more fired up! Go away please!!!

  8. woo, wait a sec papa, where did i say the fans arent part of the game?? i for one know this for sure, i mean you can see that during the game and trust me im at the games in the student section every chance i get, iv even helped lead it at many games includin hickman county...the fans are definently part of the game but there should be rules they should have like not pointing out certain players and calling their numbers or names out and they should not be allowed to be sitting directly behind the opposing team's bench and hovering over them causing the team to have to pull stools half way out on the court...i mean they are part of the game so why not give them rules too?? as far as supporting waverly i know i am one of the biggest supporters look at all my posts, the only thing im not supporting right now is the football team because of personal reasonings and beliefs and i know you talked bad about the boys basketball team early in the year saying they werent goina do any good at all and guess what, you were wrong, sorry...well game tomorrow night and il be in the student section helping out the team and hopefully you will see they are good if you aint figured it out yet, they may not be they team we had my freshmen year but they are much improved, the only problem is height which leonard, vogel, jackson, fuller, and a few others have takin care of on the perimeter so we'l see ya tomorrow night Go TIGERS!! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

Fans will holler and scream and shout, good things, bad things, idiotic things, as well as downright offensive things. However, if a player can't ignore it, he's not really focused in on the game too well. If it gets too ugly, school officials, security, and the referees can and should remove the offenders. However, players and coaches should not even hear all of the crap coming from the cheap seats. By the way, 'redneck' look up the definition of what a supporter is and then you will see that is an unconditional loyalty. You do not have to agree with everything(ex. playing time, playcalling, substitution patterns, cutting players/keeping players, etc) to still support your teams. I am sure, however, that the coach would prefer your type of 'support' to stay out of the stadium anyways. As for your basketball team, it seems to me that you have a very young squad and with youth comes mistakes, growing pains, etc. I suggest all of you quit using your energy to bicker on a chat board and start concentrating on supporting your school teams.

  9. I don't know who he would have cut. They were the best 9 on the team. and I know for a fact that he (coach) would call plays on the sidelines and the players went out and run what they wanted. They won the games. Last year's team was a joke. and no, I'm not a player, former player or parent or former parent. Just a fan that graduated from Waverly that wishes the sports at WCHS would be like they used to be.

Well, it's basketball season again and it seems as if the idiots are out in force. 'justthefacts', do us all a favor and take your computer and throw it out the window. Your posts wreak of anger against a coach/team, whatever that you obviously don't like. Don't try to act like a true fan when you're not. Of course you don't know who he would have cut, you are not the coach who won 26 games. I don't care who the coach is, 9 seniors on a squad is too many. It can hurt you down the road. Besides, those seniors were good kids I am sure. Nothing personal, just the way things are. But, if you knew for a fact that the players ran what they wanted to, then #1 you must have been sitting on the bench hearing the call and knowing that the players were not running the plays, or #2 you were on the floor(I doubt it) running whatever you wanted to. I am quite certain #1 is the correct answer. However, why must you bash last year's team as well. Maybe you need to get counseling with a professional or a local preacher might be just fine. Either way, I agree with WCHS fan, be silent and stop embarassing all of the true fans that do support the WCHS teams.

  10. Great point, we do this at the high school in the summer. We have a youth camp and get the high school coaches and players to run it. Some of the the youngest kids in our first camp our incoming freashman. It could be the bigest class ever to come into our program. The older kids at the first camp that we put on our going to be this years seniors, they are 15 strong. That is pretty good for a 1a school. This could be the first year we have a true freshman team. We also put on a coaching clinic for the middle and pee wee program. We have had as many as 40 coaches for that.

This school sounds like they have got things rolling here. I think that is what you have to do . What school is that?? :D
  11. I have just finished reading every post in this entire thread. It is quite interesting for me to see that the public/private debate is still alive and pulsating. However, I would like to add a few statements of my own. First, I have never attended a private school, although 80% of my friends did. A few were contacted, illegally, by private schools. I also had friends whose parents just wanted their child to go to that particular school. Same situation for the public schools. A few were recruited, illegally, to go to another school. Point being this, recruiting does happen on both fronts, like it or not. But, not every public and private school are doing it. Some public and/or private schools don't have to recruit. Their success in a given sport draws others to their school, public or private. I do believe that private schools do have an advantage in that their facilities always seem to be superior to those of public schools because of how funds are able to be used. I believe that kids playing together for 7-8 years is an advantage, as well as the middle school coaches and high school coaches being able to work so closely together is an advantage. Also, mom and dad do not pay good money for their child to go to a private institution and act like an idiot (parental support). That being said, it does not make private institutions the bad guys. There is nothing wrong with wanting the best for your student/athletes as long as it is attained in a legal manner. Good for them. Some public systems have athletes that spend their entire lives playing with the same teammates. Some public school systems have wonderful facilities due to an emphasis being placed on athletics by their school boards and/or booster clubs and communities. The private schools seem to be fortunate to have all of this in line. Once again, great for them. However, the topic asks if there is an unfair advantage for private schools? Who really knows, or cares. There is a governing body in place. Perfect? No!!! However, like all governing bodies, I believe that they are trying to do the right thing. Mistakes will happen. I believe that is why the multiplier rule was added. Just like restrictor plate racing (Nascar), profit sharing (SEC football game money is split by all schools in the conference), salary caps/luxury tax (Major League baseball), there is some attempt to make things equal. But, who said life was fair anyways. I should be getting paid 5.2 million dollars per year to bat .185 and sit on the bench as a utility infielder for the Rangers, but I am not. Fair, no. Reality, yes.

    Enjoyed reading the posts! ;):thumb:

  12. you guys are highly underestimating Adamsville for next season, coming off a bad season they are ready to do what it takes to make it to the playoffs, so look for them to have a lot better season next year

I agree. They are a very talented team. A new coaching staff always brings excitement to a team. I believe they can make some noise next fall.
  13. If (or should I say WHEN) Sycamore wins the Regional Tournament you all should come to the conclusion that this year's Sycamore team was better. That road to a Regional Tourney crown begins this evening with a beatdown of the Lexington Big Red Tigers :thumb::lol:

TheSmoothJuker better juke his way out of the gym quickly after this one because it's gonna be a long night of tears for his @$_!!!!!

First off, I would like to congratulate the Sycamore squad and Coach Farmer on a great season. Obviously, they ran into a buzzsaw tonight. No shame in that, nothing to hang your heads about. However, the topic at hand is about which team was better. I believe that there is no denying the fact that the Waverly squad was more successful based on the fact that they were one step away from the state tournament. However, it would have been exciting to see these two teams play each other. Again, congrats to the Sycamore War Eagles on a tremendous season.

  14. I totally agree with you okie doke last year if my minds serves me right didnt the almighty waverly team beat sycamore by a huge margin of 2 points then at waverly the refs gave them the game so i dont know how mighty you thought your team was but they sure had a tough time with sycamore

On another note if sycamore advances to state this year then they are in fact better than last years team.

Thanks and have a nice day

This is an argument that can never be won the way it needs to be won, on the court. First of all, they can't play each other, ever(Sycamore 05-06 and Waverly 04-05).

Secondly, you really can't compare what each had done up until this part of the season and say Sycamore is better that last year's Waverly team. Sycamore won the regular season title (with 1 district loss), Waverly did too ( 1 district loss), Sycamore came in second in the district tournament, Waverly won it. Record wise, Sycamore had a few less losses than Waverly did, but two of those came to the 05 AAA state runner-up, Jackson Northside. Sycamore has lost 2 or 3 that they probably should have won. The same could be said of Waverly 04-05. Now, if Sycamore betters Waverly's second place finish in the region and advances to the state tournament, then nobody can argue that Waverly  had a more successful season. Give both teams and their head coaches some credit. Both schools had first year coaches and an extremely high amount of pressure to win on their shoulders. Both teams had a great deal of pressure on them to win every game. Both schools should be commended on tremendous seasons regardless of the way things turned (or turn ) out.

  15. Well, it seems that everyone is arguing over who is the best and what makes the best player. Who knows. I do know that Moulton(sp?), Erland and West are all tremendous talents. Any team would be fortunate to have them. However, I do believe that West is the most complete player. He can post up, shoot the three, rebounds well, plays defense and makes his teammates better. He is very unselfish, maybe a little too unselfish. His teammates have fed off of him and gotten better themselves. Anyone can 'jack up' 20-25 shots per game and score 20 points and not do anything else(see Smith, 2004-05 Cheatham Co). However, West is the real deal. And no, I am not a Stewart Co follower. If I am starting a team comprised of players from this district, my number 1 pick is West.

  16. Why don't we figure out who the best ballhandler on each team is. Then, we can discuss who we think is the best ballhandler. Make sure it is the best ballhandler and not the best player(ex. Jake West is a tremendous talent-one of the best in the district, but he doesn't even have the ball in his hands much. However, the PG for the Rebels does have it alot and handles it well). Again, please stay on target here. Best ballhandler, not player, not team.

  17. I'm sure that you have no clue who I am, and you want find out. I think you are supposed to be a adult, but you sure don't act like one. your more imature than anyone on this thread. I agree with the others. Let's get on with the season and see how our tigers do. I'm sorry if I stepped on some of your feelings by stating things I believed. There was no motive behend any of it. I am sorry to disappoint you, justabystander, but I don't have a clue about baseball or soccer and according to you basketball. But I enjoy watching it. I wished I could have played on the tema this year, but couldn't. I'm not good enough.

So im going to concentrate on cheering the others on and doing my school work. It's tough being a kid and now being a attaclked by a adult. lol Sorry to al of you who are students. No more posts. I'm tired of being ridiculled. Go Tigers.

By the way, no one told how the Wavo/McEwen game come out. who won? I didn't get to go or hear.

Don't apologize for disappointing us all, we're used to it. I am glad to see you finally came to your senses and are refusing to post again. Nobody cares if you want to post something, but be positive. Support your teams and be a true fan. :thumb:
  18. I didn't say that guy was my friend. I said some of the players on the team were my friends. They know how I feel. They don't ridicule me. What are you, a teacher? lol

In comparison to you, I could be a rocket scientist. I dare say they aren't your friends, they just tolerate you.
  19. Really, what was Tiger14? Is it someone who posted something that was way off the wall? I would like to knowl. I'm not an expert, after all there are no 17 year old experts, I don't thikn. Maybe the guy that won the mayor somewhere who ws I think 18. Anyway, you obviously only have half a brfain and that half doent function well.

Now does anyone know who won the game between Wavo and Mc? I had to work this afternoon.

Tiger14, MANINBLUE,justthefacts, who cares??You are one in the same!!! Way off the wall, indeed. Is that you would like to howl or know? I am not sure which one it is. It is think, not thikn. Was, not ws. Brain, not brfain. Doesn't, not doent. Hooked on phonics didn' t work for you, did it??
  20. It's hard to have a son when you are still in high school, not unprobable, but unlikely. I hope when I do have a son, he won't be in this area going to school. Hopefully after college, I can get out of this one horse town.

I'm not attacking players. I go to school with them every day. Some are my friends. But that doesnt mean I think they are great basketball players. Get a life. bystander. Stay on the side. Obviously you don't Know anything about b'ball.

College!? You can't spell or use punctuation correctly half of the time. Besides, when you get ready to leave, I'll try and round up a few bucks and buy you a thoroughbread to bolt out of here on. I believe saying that a player is pretty much useless on the court constitutes attacking them. Friends?! I doubt it. I never talk about my friends like that. You need to find a dictionary and look up the word friend. Besides, if you know so much about basketball and are still in school, why are you not on the team?? You must not be quite as talented a ballplayer as you are an arm-chair coach. Do us all a favor and go take a long walk off a short pier.
  21. Don't have a son. I'm still in high school trying to have an opinion just like you. Obviously, you think mine doesn't count. I didn't say they would win the championship but thtat the possiblity was there. What was Tiger14. Anyway I hope we go undefeated this year. But i jusgt don't see it. I'll be there cheering them on. But one things for sure, if the Tiges win over 10 games coach K deserves the coach of the year. I saw most of the games last year except some away games, but the ones I saw were very exciting, and I don't think we can do that again. I didn't see the coach do anything special, just let the guys run up and down the court. But I'll be there with the bluecrew cheering them on. Go Big blue.

Don't have a son?! Good! You obviosly could be the posterchild for the "abstinence" campaign. Still in high school? I am sure you only have a good 5 years left. However, I do believe that your opinion counts, it is just embarassing to any Tiger fan that has half a brain. Don't play dumb, you know who Tiger14 is and remember what an idiot he is. Besides, everyone wants to go undefeated, it just doesn't happen much. I am sure you wrote the book on high school basketball coaching, but to act like the guys only ran up and down the floor is hilarious. Continue to pepper this thread with your ignorant comments. Blue crew?? There is an age limit on that. You could qualify, though, by occupying the 'cheering section idiot' job.
  22. Hope you're right but I just don't see it. Hargrove is the better shooter of the two by far. Hyatt is slow and is a ball hog. 15 NWTF 08, I have watched these guys a lot and if they don't improve dramatically, they won't make very much impact at all. The only way they do is if they are hot and get to shoot becaused DJ will be double teamed most of the year. I agree no inside game other than maybe Nick Holmes who will suffer because of lack of experience but he can't help but be better than Reeder who was useless on the court. Most of the teams have a lot of their people back in the district. Coach K has the habit of not using all the talent he has either.

Please refrain from spreading your ignorance around in every thread that has to do with the Tigers. In another thread, you mentioned only winning 5 games, ridiculous! Again, you attack by name as you hide behind a computer. Be supportive or be gone. To attack players who are giving it their all is classless. Obviously, being classless is consistent with your character, or the lack thereof. Hyatt will do well as will Hargrove. Reeder improved more than anyone over the course of the season. He was a very integral part of the team. As far as using his talent, Coach K did fairly well last year I think. Besides, anyone who saw the Tigers play last year knows that the talent was indeed being utilized. Obviously, justthefacts, you must be referring to your son on the bench. But, go ahead, enlighten us with your ideas of who should have played more. I am sure we will all get a good chuckle out of this one.
