  1. I saw someone shoot the ball from the other end of the floor down 3 one time to tie the game. It hit the top of the backboard and bounced clear into the stands. So it was just the same. The refs said it should have gone in so they called it good and the team one in overtime. I also saw a kid almost jump and touch the backboard and I thought I was watching Lebron James dunk over Shaq. I mean, it was just the same. And I think it is hilarious that you think you know who I am. Once again, you are misinformed and we will wait for you to shoot your mouth off again.
  2. Papa, your memory is very poor. Ricco Ralston was a great player. His attempt to dunk over Odom and Chism was awesome but the dunk was not successful. He was fouled. You make Waverly and yourself look bad with your false information. Maybe you need to watch the tape before you start shooting your mouth off. By the way, how was the popcorn???
  3. Hey redneck. Stick to playing soccer because you obviously dont know either. Yeah this thread is stupid because of people that are ignorant of the truth. You are obviously one of them. Ask your coaches if you dont believe it. I will tell you like tigermom, although she seems to be a better fan than you, THEY ARE PAID FROM THE ATHLETIC BUDGET NOT THE BOOSTER CLUB. Again this comes from gate receipts. You say, "I know they are paid by the booster club because I play soccer?" So because you play soccer you know this? Ok, you and papa would make a good team. Oh an all of the money focuses towards football. Ok we are talking basketball. I am sorry your girls soccer players didnt get a bus. The golf team doesnt get a bus either. I will say it again soccer man. The buses are paid for out of gate receipts. SO before you start your redneck ,"hey shut your mouth stuff", get your facts straight. And again, if you dont believe it, go ask the basketball or football coaches and if you do, you will be the one shutting your mouth!
  4. I didnt say the school system paid. I said that the school pays out of athletic funds. The athletic funds may come partially from fundraisers and members dues and the booster club helps the athletic teams out but I will say it one more time, the buses are paid out of the school's athletic budget. This is 95% from tickets sold at the home ballgames, NOT booster club fundraisers. Now you can go back and say that well the tickets that are sold are paid for by parents too and you would be right. But the booster club does not pay for our school buses. Not arguing with you, just making sure you understand.
  5. Tigermom, Everything I have read from you, I agree you are a true fan. I will however, let you know, you may be or have been a band booster president but the booster club does not pay for a bus. The money comes out of the athletic budget at each school. That is a fact and if you dont believe it ask the basketball coaches. I dont know about the band, but the basketball teams pay for them out of athletics.
  6. Once again PapaTiger. The school pays buses. Not the booster club. Your facts are crap and you write for the paper. I will ask again, please go away! Bolivar, this should give you an insight to who started this thread and his credibility! Go ahead papa, what will you start next!
  7. Oh my gosh! PapaTiger strikes again. Here are the facts. Would it have been nice to play both games on one night? yes. But they didnt want to. Their home game, their decision. The game was changed to 4:00 before the talk of the games played on both nights was even brought up. PapaTiger, whoever your source is, is about as unreliable as you are. You are really doing Waverly a great service by this thread when you dont even know what really took place. Im sure if I were coach Kevin I would really like to give Bolivar an incentive to be more fired up! Go away please!!!
  8. Fans will holler and scream and shout, good things, bad things, idiotic things, as well as downright offensive things. However, if a player can't ignore it, he's not really focused in on the game too well. If it gets too ugly, school officials, security, and the referees can and should remove the offenders. However, players and coaches should not even hear all of the crap coming from the cheap seats. By the way, 'redneck' look up the definition of what a supporter is and then you will see that is an unconditional loyalty. You do not have to agree with everything(ex. playing time, playcalling, substitution patterns, cutting players/keeping players, etc) to still support your teams. I am sure, however, that the coach would prefer your type of 'support' to stay out of the stadium anyways. As for your basketball team, it seems to me that you have a very young squad and with youth comes mistakes, growing pains, etc. I suggest all of you quit using your energy to bicker on a chat board and start concentrating on supporting your school teams.
  9. Well, it's basketball season again and it seems as if the idiots are out in force. 'justthefacts', do us all a favor and take your computer and throw it out the window. Your posts wreak of anger against a coach/team, whatever that you obviously don't like. Don't try to act like a true fan when you're not. Of course you don't know who he would have cut, you are not the coach who won 26 games. I don't care who the coach is, 9 seniors on a squad is too many. It can hurt you down the road. Besides, those seniors were good kids I am sure. Nothing personal, just the way things are. But, if you knew for a fact that the players ran what they wanted to, then #1 you must have been sitting on the bench hearing the call and knowing that the players were not running the plays, or #2 you were on the floor(I doubt it) running whatever you wanted to. I am quite certain #1 is the correct answer. However, why must you bash last year's team as well. Maybe you need to get counseling with a professional or a local preacher might be just fine. Either way, I agree with WCHS fan, be silent and stop embarassing all of the true fans that do support the WCHS teams.
  10. This school sounds like they have got things rolling here. I think that is what you have to do . What school is that??
  11. Was this coach on the staff last year or did he come from another school?
  12. I have just finished reading every post in this entire thread. It is quite interesting for me to see that the public/private debate is still alive and pulsating. However, I would like to add a few statements of my own. First, I have never attended a private school, although 80% of my friends did. A few were contacted, illegally, by private schools. I also had friends whose parents just wanted their child to go to that particular school. Same situation for the public schools. A few were recruited, illegally, to go to another school. Point being this, recruiting does happen on both fronts, like it or not. But, not every public and private school are doing it. Some public and/or private schools don't have to recruit. Their success in a given sport draws others to their school, public or private. I do believe that private schools do have an advantage in that their facilities always seem to be superior to those of public schools because of how funds are able to be used. I believe that kids playing together for 7-8 years is an advantage, as well as the middle school coaches and high school coaches being able to work so closely together is an advantage. Also, mom and dad do not pay good money for their child to go to a private institution and act like an idiot (parental support). That being said, it does not make private institutions the bad guys. There is nothing wrong with wanting the best for your student/athletes as long as it is attained in a legal manner. Good for them. Some public systems have athletes that spend their entire lives playing with the same teammates. Some public school systems have wonderful facilities due to an emphasis being placed on athletics by their school boards and/or booster clubs and communities. The private schools seem to be fortunate to have all of this in line. Once again, great for them. However, the topic asks if there is an unfair advantage for private schools? Who really knows, or cares. There is a governing body in place. Perfect? No!!! However, like all governing bodies, I believe that they are trying to do the right thing. Mistakes will happen. I believe that is why the multiplier rule was added. Just like restrictor plate racing (Nascar), profit sharing (SEC football game money is split by all schools in the conference), salary caps/luxury tax (Major League baseball), there is some attempt to make things equal. But, who said life was fair anyways. I should be getting paid 5.2 million dollars per year to bat .185 and sit on the bench as a utility infielder for the Rangers, but I am not. Fair, no. Reality, yes. Enjoyed reading the posts!
  13. I am talking about Adamsville. Their coach from this past season has resigned and moved on. I don't know if they have hired anyone new yet. Does anyone know?
  14. I agree. They are a very talented team. A new coaching staff always brings excitement to a team. I believe they can make some noise next fall.
  15. First off, I would like to congratulate the Sycamore squad and Coach Farmer on a great season. Obviously, they ran into a buzzsaw tonight. No shame in that, nothing to hang your heads about. However, the topic at hand is about which team was better. I believe that there is no denying the fact that the Waverly squad was more successful based on the fact that they were one step away from the state tournament. However, it would have been exciting to see these two teams play each other. Again, congrats to the Sycamore War Eagles on a tremendous season.
