1.

It just seems like since Reid and Rankin eras have come the quality of football no doubt have improved but the tradition has been lost. You walk down the hill when you leave the locker room, run through a paper sign with some silly smack talk the cheerleaders came up with and you hit the sidelines while the band plays The Horse. You wear Maroon, Gray and white and your helmet must never change (darn you Ironside).

Just my lil rant, I guess you can say I just miss the good ol days but hey Im sure once they replace good ol Goddard Field (which is ignorant) all tradition will finally be lost

I understand that you might miss some of the good old traditions, but this feels a little like a slap to the face of the players. It seems a little like you don't think the boys are playing "true Alcoa football" I thought Alcoa tradition was about:

Playing football with passion, striving for excellence, coming together as a team, overcoming challenges, and having a lot of fun.

All the bells and whistles before/after the game are great. They add to the overall atmosphere. I love the band, especially the drum core. However, the tradition is on the field. It is about remembering the legacy of past teams, and leaving your own legacy on the field.

The tradition is about the boys on the field and what they've done.

  2. i guess you couldnt put 21 or 24 in this pic because you know that many guys cant get to either one of them /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

Seriously? Maybe you should look up the legend of #21 from DCA and his adventure at Goddard.

  3. I'm taking AP Calculus and this is what I've been learning:

    SPEED=X, GOOD GAME=G

    Also, Alcoa=A=2X

    Tyner=T=2X

    If X+X=G, then

    2X times 2X=G-squared...

(In other words...)Alcoa is fast, however they are not the only fast team. Tyner has exceptional speed and match up quite well with Alcoa, IMO. Remember a couple of years ago when these 2 teams met up in the semi-finals? Tyner had a bunch of turnovers that ultimately cost them the game. However, the teams were well-matched...On any given Friday, anybody can beat anybody - Nothing is guaranteed. That's all I have to say.

You calculus class must be awful. I think Alcoa teaches that kind of math in Algebra 1.

  4. WB has a pair of QB fighting it out (Burton and Witt). Both throw it well and WB will throw a lot. Shame you didnt include them in your introduction. Who will be the starter at Heritage?

As for best in the county right this second I would go with James strictly on playing time alone and he has one start under his belt.(Spring Hill '07).

I would definitely say Burton is better than Whit right now. He throws a much tighter spiral and a bigger arm. Whit still has the troubles that dropped him to 4th string at Alcoa. A year in the weight room will help.

  5. It seemed to me that West knocked Catholic out of their normal style of play somewhat. Catholic seemed to lose patience with their ball-control style. They still got enough chances to win the game though, West just finished when it needed to.

    P.S. Great winning goal #11

  6. I don't think enough credit is being given to the young men from GP. Say what you wish, but they did basically whatever they wanted on the offensive side. A couple of early mistakes let Alcoa pull away and its hard to beat a team when you can't stop them on defense. However, they did not fold and played the entire ball game. Alcoa is a good ball club, but I think they are very beatable. If anyone noticed, GP wasn't given a chance and they put up more points than every team Alcoa has played not named Maryville. I would also not say that Rankin pulled his starters early. The same defense I saw in the first quarter for Alcoa took the field at the beginning of the fourth. Congratulations GP on a wonderful season and for earning Region 1 some respect.

At least half of Alcoa's 1st D didn't play at all in the 2nd half

  7. I can't really comment on that game because I was gone to college and didn't see it. I heard the defense scored like 42 points though. I'm hoping Alcoa plays at home if they win, but York would be 13-0 and they are a #1 seed. Will that loss to Maryville cost Alcoa home field? I don't mind traveling, but it would be nice to save a little gas.

In odd numbered years teams on top of bracket have home field advantage if they are the same seed. This means Alcoa will have home-field advantage should they play in the Semi-Finals.

  8. Alcoa might win by 100. With that said, it is supposed to be illegal according to the TSSAA to transfer to a school strictly for athletic purposes. There must be legitimate academic reasons why that student is transferring into that school. For instance, if Alcoa offers a class or program Heritage doesn't, then that transfer is legit. If you do transfer just for sports, then you better keep it on the "down-low" or else you'll be suspended. Jaren Troutman at Fulton transferred to AE, but his mom let it slip that it was because he would start over there. Well...he was suspended and lost an entire year of eligibility.

That is not illegal by the way. It just means you have to follow transfer rules and sit out a year. You can bypass that rule if you move you residence or have a different outstanding reason for transferring.

  9. anybody could drop down in 2a and win state! alcoa might be the most overrated team in the STATE! name a good team that you all have played and beaten.

I would sagely suggest that everyone from Alcoa just ignore Seymour07. He is just trying to stir the pot. Who knows if he is even from Seymour. Reading his posts is not worth your time.

    Tornadoes roll: 48-7

  10. I doubt he will be better or even as good as Douglas. He doesn't have the size or speed douglas has. And i doubt he has the soft hands either. Hard to get much better than 88.

Tyler Robinson does not have the size or strength of Douglas yet; However, he does have excellent hands.

  11. QUOTE(LEONARDSLOSERS @ Jun 6 2007 - 11:20 PM) 826472371I don't know that I agree with the Recovery Credit deal. If you have that many kids that are having to do recovery credit, then maybe you ought to check out if the recovery credit is or should be considered equal to the class that they have failed. Once a week doing several make up assignments as compared to an entire semester. Oh well maybe I am missing something here.

Credit Recovery is 5 days a week for about 7 hours a day. Now I am not saying it is good to fail. However, credit recovery does take some time.

  12. QUOTE(easttnref @ May 16 2007 - 09:15 PM) 826460590How many seniors did Alcoa have this year and what about CAK

Alcoa had 10 seniors, 8 of which have started at some point this season.

  13. QUOTE(Jpab @ Apr 1 2007 - 06:06 PM) 826427699some kid named Tanner can throw it very far. VERY DANGEROUS. he also scored a nice free kick for them against Morristown West.

They tied Farragut 2-2 and Morristown West 1-1. and beat Houson 3-2. They have some key players. like #4. (very fast)

They aren't very deep though. I think they only have 14 or 15 players on their team. Or that is what I saw at the Bearden Invitational.

I think we might start hearing more about that kid Tanner as he continues his career.

  14. QUOTE(BigG @ Mar 29 2007 - 09:54 PM) 826426140That throw in is a deadly weapon (shoot, they must have had 15 in each half). They play a really smart game, and defended very well. I think they will do great.

    Who was the thrower?
