  1. Didn't try the fumblrooskie, double reverse, stop flicker, throw back either! Dang! You're right! Let's fire'em all!

You finally got it right there knucklehead. You didn't come out in the 2nd half with a modified game plan to deal with changes that any good thinking opposing coach would make. YOU failed. Not the team. And quit blaming the team when you are the ones that failed them. The team started making mistakes when the reality of their situation set in on them mentally (coaching). It should have never come down to that last play. Your blindness to this is symptomatic of the problem. After hearing your fat mouth on here I'm back to just what you "suggest" - fire the whole lot, if they're like you (and I hope they're not). But that can be arranged. You need to go back into the shadows.

CoachT, time to shut this thread down.

  2. Since your to stupid to understand what I wrote,I'll say it again in a way you might comprehend{understand}.Alcoa has won several state titles in a row under Rankin and anyone talking bad about him is just plain stupid. If your feeling as if I called you stupid the first time, your wrong. If your feeling I just called you stupid,YOUR RIGHT !

No way I'd give up my tickets.I'll be there if DB keeps coach for ten more years or Daniels takes over and hires central's coach to ruin the offense and crockett's to ruin the defense.I love DB football and can't wait for next year.I'll go until I can't go.I do hope a couple of fat people in front of me take your advice,I'll buy their tickets as well.I know people are mad and you should be mad when your team get's beat, but I'll be there for the boys next year nomatter what and they will too.

All you've done is prove that I'm right about you and your real message in that post. You don't have enough courage to stand up for changes that will move this program forward out of the stagnation it's in. How many players do we have to loose next year to convince you? How may fans have to call it quits to convince you? How much more laughing and taunting by the DB haters? What I hear from most of these folks here is loyalty to DB, the football program, and the tradition - not to the current coaches. Not so from you. You have to get your football fix regardless of the price. They want to see the program move forward. Dang, I can't believe how much respect I have for Waco, Art, and others right now.

  3. Coach Rankin is a great coach and if DB didn't have a great coach,he would be a fine one to have. Those Alcoa fans that act that way are just stupid with what he has done for Alcoa.I don't know coach Rankin, but I do know coach Rankin and coach Clark know each other.Unless DB fires coach Clark,I can't see him talking to DB out of respect for coach Clark.I just hope coach Clark and coach Rankin both have better things to do then read coacht.

Sounds like you're just a little too close to the coaches to have an unbiased viewpoint.

So what are you saying anyway? Rankin is a great coach so you label the Alcoa fans that are critical as "stupid". You are apparently therefore saying that the DB fans that have had enough are "stupid" as well because Clark is a great coach. How insulting.

You are obviously too entangled in the "good ole boy" system with the coaches to have anything of value to contribute here. You need to take your blinders off son. The truth is that coaching lost that game Friday and that should be obvious to anybody. It's also obvious that history is repeating over and over again. Wake up!

My opinion, and I know it is of little value on here, is if Clark does not give the offensive reins to someone with successful playoff experience, he should resign or be forced to. These kids and the school deserve better than what happened Friday. I think that most sane fans are tired of the ongoing playoff embarrassment.

  4. Which one was this Ketron, Sullivan Central, Blountville, Lynview, Rogersville, Churchill? Does the schedule start next week, or are there more "tune ups," to pad the 700+ wins? "Roll Tribe," or walk, or hire a proxy--just phone it in. When I see EC playing Union, or DLS traveling to Lauderdale, Mission vs. Don Bosco, Hoover and S. Pan, I wounder why all the swagger that is DB who evidently never sticks it out there. Sure, 1-0 vs. MBA, 50-50 vs. Oakridge, 0-10 Marysville, 0-5 Murphy. Doesn't seem to match all the hype/in-your-face. Ever considered scheduling an OPPONENT? (or at least making it out of the first round?).

Bottom Line: My senior year one team made an extra point--allowed 30 others. Trailed for about 2 minutes ALL season. Spent the night TWICE just to get at the best we could schedule. Played outta state. Lots of my team mates stared at D-1, others did just as well at smaller schools. Most became successful in life. Never said a word, just did our jobs. Won the LAST State Championship.

Are you drunk? Apparently not as successful as the ole buddies, eh?

  5. Frankly, DB didn't deserve as shot at M'ville. Too many mistakes were made to beat a team as talanted as Bearden. You make mistakes, you lose.

Best of luck to the Dawgs, but I dont see them beating the Rebs.

The Rebs will be nearly mistake free tonight, and their special teams play will be well, special.

    I say M'ville 35 - Dawgs 14.

Frankly I didn't say that DB deserved a shot at Maryville. They blew it last week with the penalties - that you just can't have in playoffs. I just said that DB would have had a better shot at Maryville. Of course with the score 7-3 Bearden, I could be wrong.

  6. OK Bud I'll bite. DB had the players. So IMOP that was not the problem.

    1. Karma.

    2. Coaches.

    3. Playing a weak schedule.

    4. Mental preparedness.

    5. Lack of experience in playoffs.

    I would cite 1 and 2.

Ask yourself, what is the difference between D-B and Alcoa or Maryville.

There is no way that there is a dime's worth of difference between the quality of these kids. Has to be something else. What else is different? I wager it's #2. Personally I think that D-B should recruit Rankin when Clark retires from the game. Rankin may not accept but it would be worth a try. Otherwise the status quo continues so just accept it.

  7. I would venture to say that most people that pay to go to a HS football game are there to see the game and not the band. I don't really know, but I would imagine when a band concert is held, there is not an admission charge. If there happens to be an admission charge for a state band championship, I don't think there would be several thousand people there to watch or listen as the case may be. If the band were left at home, how would that affect the attendance at high school football games. Not enough to matter.

For the most part, every band competition charges admission. Probably around $5.

As far as the state band championship is concerned, it's called the Contest of Champions and is held at MTSU every year at the end of October. During finals competition probably 75% of the home side is full. Yes thousands pay an admission fee of $12 (general admission) to watch the top 8-10 bands re-perform their competition piece. That's after possibly paying $10 for the all day event were all 30 bands compete in the preliminary competition.

Now I love HS football. But I think the whole show makes football Friday nights great. That includes the band cranking it up. I would almost guarantee that attendance would drop by 30% at our stadium if there were no band show.

One interesting point. During a competition, nobody talks or moves around in the stands - that's the rule. If you don't want any distractions for the football team, perhaps that is the best rule to implement. No noise at all. :popcorneater: Now wouldn't that be cool? No matter what you do, somebody is going to complain and cause the powers that be to further restrict how things are. Sorry, not for me. I think its fine just the way it is. Leave well enough alone before you get something you don't want.

Oh, and for the West Tennessee person ... bands are big in East Tennessee too. There are 380 kids in ours. I think that's larger than any college band in the state.

  8. Maybe it's just me, but I have noticed this year at home games that a few of Maryville's opponent's bands have been playing during the time we were running plays on offense -

Oak Ridge's band played through the entire first through third quarters, finally stopping when Maryville had the game in hand..

I didn't notice this again until we played Dobyns-Bennett in the first round of the playoffs. Their band played very loudly ONLY we we had the ball. In fact, they didn't even play during halftime. Their only apparent reason for being there, was to try to disrupt our offense. That didn't exactly workout for them!

Then the same thing occured during the Riverdale game last Friday - any time our offense was near the band's side of the field, their band played as loudly as they could while we were running plays. It wasn't a very effective strategy for them either...

Maybe I'm old fashioned, but I think this is very poor sportmanship...you don't see bands doing this at the college and pro levels. I hate trying to pass rules to solve every problem, but maybe it's time the TSSAA regulates this before it gets out of hand....

The Dobyns-Bennett band was at the game to support their team in every way they could. No different than most any other HS band. They are the team's #1 fan and they intend to be the loudest. They have no impact on good teams - like Maryville. It's great to see a battle of the bands at games like Oak Ridge vs. Dobyns-Bennett. This is just a normal part of the fun of football Friday nights.

You'll have to forgive BatmanDB. The team fumbled the ball at the goal line because they couldn't hold onto it. Somewhat of a problem for us this year. He seems to like to blame the team's problems on others rather than their coaches where it belongs. That is the way of the world today isn't it Batman? Resistance if futile. You have been assimilated.

They didn't play at half time? That would probably be because it was a pep band. Only about 1 3rd of them were there. They couldn't do their halftime show w/o the whole band. They are normally 3 times louder.

  9. I don't think you people from "The Boro" understand. This Maryville bunch works like a well oiled machine. They methodically dismember their opponent. They only way to understand what I'm talking about is to play 'em Friday night. This is going to be Oak Ridge all over again. The Warriors come to town, put up their teepee, light a little fire in it and by half time have to take it down. I witnessed that one myself at OR.

And I'll tell you what. The people that run the stadium at Maryville are the nicest hosts you could ask for. You will be made to feel very welcome there. Some of the posters on here try to act like back hills folk but that is just a ruse - a bit of fun if you will.

The utmost respect for the people of Maryville and their team.

And no, I'm not from there. Our team got whipped by them.

    Prediction: Maryville 28, Riverdale 14

actually we are probably one of the few teams that does understand the terms machine and mythodical I think that we are a lot a like the biggest difference is maryville has done it at a different classification but they are very well coached and they know how to win. we have not given up more than 7 points during regualtion in a long time so i would be very surprised if this game is that high scoring but i will respect your knowledge of both schools and accept your predicition as I know that my WARRIORS are just lucky to be here

Looks like this was the 1st 7+ pointer that has been scored against Riverdale in a long time. Congrats to Maryville. Indeed it was very similar to the OR vs Riverdale game of a few years ago. No doubt you understand now. The score doesn't reflect the difference in the two teams.

  10. I don't think you people from "The Boro" understand. This Maryville bunch works like a well oiled machine. They methodically dismember their opponent. 11. Graham Clark has had a bad year and he's lost some first round playoff games and a lot of us DB fans have really let him have it. But he is our coach and we wouldn't trade him for anybody. He's the best coach DB has ever had, the best coach in upper east tn. and in the top 5 in the state. Thats a fact. DB Football will be back in a big way. Bank on it!
Have you finally lost your freaking mind!
  12. IMO Blazer fans have forgotten one very important factor in tomorrows showdown. Tennessee High showed in the last pairing of these two teams that they were the better of the two hands down... head to toe. If you want to know how this game tomorrow night will play out you only have to look to the second half of the first game. Both coaches will do their best to make adjustments in line with what they learn on film, but the bottom line is that the personnel on the field remains the same. No disrespect to Boone and Coach Jenkins because they have certainly proven that they are and will be a team to contend with, but Coach Stubbs simply has more to work with this year... and he will pull out all stops to put an exclamation point on this game. Unless the turnover bug bites the Vikings REAL hard, I expect this to be an impressive win for the Vikings that will.... incase there was any (and from reading most of the posts from the Blazers there is).... LEAVE NO DOUBT!!! :roflol:
You run the DB fans down all the time for running their mouths. Well you shot your mouth off - again - and you got what YOU deserve - a loss. Sorry for the TN High kids and their loss after a great season but congrats to the Boone kids. Boone was obviously the superior team tonight.

2 and out there Cap1. Do you feel it now?

  13. The Maryville fans have explained what is wrong with the DB football program without really intending to. Here is what the Maryville program IS and what our program IS NOT....

I anybody wants to see a DB team that is a well oiled unit like the Maryville team we saw last night, there needs to be change from the ground up.

A lot of truth in his observations. We are very fortunate to have a community that loves and supports hs football. If you were on the field last night after the game, you saw all the young kids throwing football and waiting to see their hs heroes. They dream of one day playing on Friday nights in that atmosphere.

This year's season started the day after last year's loss in the championship game. You can see qbs and receivers working on routes any summer morning at 6:00am...no coaches, just kids wanting to get better. The weightroom is full throughout the off-season. We don't win many games on pure athletic ability...it's hard work and ability to be coached.

GQ is a great coach....but he is also surrounded by an incredible coaching staff. He has also benefited from former MHS coaches who have laid the groundwork....(Wilson, Renfro, Story, Hammontree).

DB has the tradition which is the hardest thing to establish. Keep supporting the program and kids!! DB will be a fine.

  14. I look forward to this game. I have a lot of respect for the DB program. Don't let the 5-5 record fool you. DB lost to some darn good teams. I expect DB's best shot. This game will be tough for Maryville to win. Can't go against GQ though. I can't wait to see the DB band.

The "band" will just be a pep band of about 100 (of ~370) just to support the team. Wish they would bring the half time show but 10+ buses are too expensive I guess. Hope DB & Maryville make it a game to remember, win or loose. Looking forward to it. Hope there is plenty of food at the concessions.

  15. Aaahhhh yes, the Black Devil Train has arrived at it's destination. Just under the Eastman Road Bridge. The Indian Fathers are busy loading pickup truck loads of the pungent bird and hauling it back to J. Fred Johnson Stadium for the required black communion. By the time all is said and done their trucks will be rusted and tires will be rotted by the juice from the Devil Bird. The beaten city Fathers toil as told. The Indian Mothers will be serving the delicacy into the wee hours of the morning with nasty vermin sweat rolling down their soon to be aging city faces. These wretched young women will age beyond their years by midnight next Thursday when they will send the Black Devil Train to it's next destination. Woe be unto anyone who must keep the train two weeks in a row. There would be no return from such discust. Enjoy your cript for your curse has been administered and remember...woe is to the one who lives in the past...for the present is but a fleeting number of touchdowns away........ ;)

If anybody knows this dude personally, you need to help him find a nice mental hospital. He's got some serious anomalies going on in that head. The South game must have been too much for him. :D

  16. Clark admitted last week in the news paper that coaching and himself personally was at fault for the loss to SC last week. This week he basically said to just reprint the same cause as last week. Is he admitting that there needs to be a shakeup at the top? On a different note, there have been rumors that if things don't improve this year that Watson will retire. That is hard to believe unless there is deep frustration. My impression is that he has more of the love of football engrained in him that all the other coaches combined.

  17. You people just don't get it. This clown is either trying to run down Tennessee HS football stadiums and laughing at your responses or he is some kind of dunce that doesn't understand how it looks to be bragging about all those nice stadiums he has up there. Heck, even the bad ones look pretty nice in the pics.

Look at his pics and quit just making comments about who's stadium looks nice. This is just a little competition for him.

HS football is not about how nice a stadium looks. Its about the total show - cheering fan support, students yelling for their team, fans yelling at the officials when the screw up, showing off your school's tee shirts & caps, hot dogs, talented athletes, marching bands, cheer leaders and your neighbors around you (not necessarily in that order). Who really cares about the stadium. The best places to experience HS football have little to do with the physical stadium. Some of the bests places to watch HS football are little schools in the mountains of SW Va and NE TN. They're all fun to visit, IMO.

  18. Isn't it ironic that we all have been talking about the need to play a tougher non-conference schedule? Be careful what you ask for. Now we're 0-2 and these young players have no confidence at all. I think I would just as soon played Cherokee and Jeff Co. and been 2-0 with a world of confidence going into the conference schedule.

"no confidence at all"? that's crazy. they should be proud of how they played tonite. Clinton is a very good team and DB went toe-to-toe with them. Much improvement over last week. If there's anything the team doesn't need is overconfidence because they beat a couple of easy teams instead of the current situation. Tough non-conference games are just what this young team needs. No confidence? dry.gif If true, take a look at the coach real hard.
