  1. After reviewing the list, I find everything pretty agreeable. Catholic is big-time, as well as LC and Powell. Those three, along with West, will continue to surprise people this year. I like Catholic to at least get to the state finals, only because they have a smaller playoff format than the D-1 teams. I think their defense ranks right up there with the best of them and Knoxville, and Nick McFadden is one of the premier players in Knoxville on offense. A player to watch out for is Mike Pierce at safety, first year of football, already has three interceptions. The kid is pure muscle and speed. Also, one of the best soccer goalies in tennessee.
  2. Harsh, Waco Jaco, do you ever get out of the house by the way? Also, bud, there is no way I would want to meet you my man, from your intimidating posts you are either a tough ex-footballer or a punk with little man syndrome. either way, i am completely terrified. Also, I think McCallie's is better than good ole Maryville's. We'll see, but they held Central to 10 points. i doubt Maryville's D will be able to do that, especially with Gaston and Scott, but we'll see!
  3. My guess for best d would have to be... McCallie Blue Tornado. A lot of skill on that d.
  4. Uh, bud, the guy meant a 4-4 defense you fool. Anyway, they aren't that great. Catholic crushed them on offense.
  5. I can only hope Ryan does better this year. I think they will have one of the better teams in the state in about two years, so MBA watch out! Go Irish! Are you guys the Irish? I'm not really sure... Anyway, the REAL Irish this year and every year is Knoxville Catholic.
  6. JC, My man, I could care less how good ND is, it's just the simple fact that it is ND, and like I said, it is great to see a community divided, half ND half UT. That will be an awesome game to watch. Last time, I had an orange and white shaker in one hand and a green and gold one in the other, and a lot of other people were doing the same thing. Just goes to show the mystique of ND, no matter how bad they are.
  7. Knoxville Catholic will probably win out as well.
  8. Oh yeah right. When has Bearden done anything. The battle for West Knoxville runs down Cedar Bluff, Catty High against Webb. What grade is Dolinak in? Is his father Tom Dolinak? Cause if that kid is starting, I have to be at this game. Also, Bearden, you guys don't stand a chance.
  9. All I know is I like both the freshmen a lot more than I ever liked Casey. I also think Ainge throws a much prettier ball.
  10. Oh, get over it. La Tech isn't good, UNLV stinks, too. ND will be a good game, just bc it is awesome when ND plays UT. It seems like the whole community of Knoxville is split, the Baptists against the Catholics. It is great to see all the orange and green and gold in the stadium.
  11. Exactly. Well-put. You have a much more hands on look at the football program than I ever will, Rebelsman, but that is what I notice when I watch the team play: a swagger, a confidence in knowing every Friday night is their time to show how a real football TEAM can get it done. It is amazing how many players can get touches on offense for Maryville, as well as how the defense swarms to the ball. Just total team domination.
  12. Guys, don't get upset over the fact that your team maybe isn't the most talented in the area. You have great players, but when I think talent in the area, I see more athletic kids at A-E, Fulton, and Knox Central. Powell also has a heck of a lot of talent. In Kingsport, Dobyns-Bennet has the most college talent far and wide. There is also a great number more football players in Memphis, as well as teams like Riverdale, McCallie, etc. These teams just have some great athletes, while you guys have top-notch players as well, just maybe a half-step below, if that, but you more than make up for that with the fact your coaches get the players prepared mentally and physically, and execution is second to none in the area. Now, please, don't turn this into a huge debate over whether Maryville is more talented than everyone. They aren't, don't be upset, you guys beat those teams 9 out of ten times anyway. Cade is a player, as well as Byner at RB. I just think Byner is awesome, but Tallent probably has the most talent.
  13. Knox Catholic doesn't charge their kids for anything, but then again, those kids pay a huge tuition, so I guess athletic events are covered.
  14. Maryville has a good, but not great, group of athletes. That is what makes their program so special, they win without the big-time athletes, just hard-nosed work and execution. I can think of three or four teams with better athletes in Knoxville, but Maryville outcoaches them every time.
  15. Uh, are you joking? Yes, you guys have a few of the top players in East TN, but in no way do you have the most. You're not even the best team in Chattanooga, but everyone is talking about Caldwell and he seems to be the real deal.
  16. sorry i'll translate... everyone on here has referred to farragut's "tallent" literally every time. the word you guys are looking for is TALENT not TALLENT. are we making connections yet? also, the next part of the post refers to nickwyatt telling me to "think through my posts next time", because i had incorrectly stated that if Farragut loses to Ooltewah, William Blount, and Oak Ridge they will still go to the playoffs. i just answered that i would rather post than look things up, which i would have had to to figure that out, i guess i don't have that common sense that you have hoops4ever. but that is the translation. sorry my post was so cryptic there guys. now if you geniuses need more help for this post, read it twice.
  17. Actually guys I think it is due to their TALENT. But then again I oculd be wrong it might have to do with their tallent whatever that is. Also, I will be sure to concentrate a lot harder next time and look up stats before I post nickywatt, or maybe I won't and I'll just post. Yeah that sounds a whole lot better, while you look things up and figure out whether or not Farragut will make the playoffs I'll just wait for your reply thirty minutes later.
  18. Farragut is probably the most overrated team in Tennessee. I've watched them twice and I know of at least 10-11 teams in the Knoxville area better, and I believe Farragut is the biggest school in Knoxville. Not only will they lose to Oak Ridge, Ooltewah, and Soddy Daisy, I'm going with William Blount when they meet to play. Farragut will go to the playoffs and lose in the first round.
  19. I sit here and read all this and realize that UT has recruited many kids from our state, Gerald Riggs, Colquitts, Wilhoit, Jason Hall, Steven Jones, Cottam, just to name a few. But the fact is, there aren't that many great players in Tennessee, and when you are a program as big as UT, you do something called "recruiting nationally". The reason why is because every high school football player in this country knows about the University of Tennessee, watches them on TV, and sees their style of play and their fans every college football season. Why restrict yourself to your own state when you can get that big lineman in Texas (Cody Douglas) or that fast linebacker out of California (see Kevin Simon)? Why restrict yourself to marginal players with "potential" at Maryville and other schools? The answer is simple: by recruiting nationally, UT competes for mythical national recruiting titles. If you look at the numbers, high-ranked recruiting classes translate into high-ranked teams. JUst take a look at how similar recruiting class ranks and top 25 ranks are in the last ten years. It's incredible. Obviously, UT's coaches are in their positions because they know and understand the game of football and the players that play them. I wouldn't question their motives on signing that receiver out of Alabama (Jayson Swain a.k.a Mr. Touchdown this Saturday) than the one out of Chattanooga (Adarius Bowman, who has done barely anything for the horrible Carolina program). So, UT and Tennessee high school football fans, the bottom line is this: You can't have your cake (Tennessee winning football games) and eat it too (Tennessee recruiting in-state players).
  20. Who is Creekwood? JPII really isn't that bad fellas, unless your team is a 5A or 4A school, I'd say they'll give you a game.
  21. Are you joking or just that stupid? LC beat your team with hard-nosed defense and a tough running game. Make all the excuses you want, but you got killed by a team that was hungrier and better prepared than your blessed Falcons. Get over it man, you guys got taken to the woodshed this Friday night. I feel sorry for you if you honestly think that it was Fulton that beat Fulton, becuase that just shows blind loyalty to your program and finding ways to make excuses when you lose and exaggerating when you win. Fulton is good, no doubt about it, but they aren't as good as last year and they were not as good as LC on Friday. Period.
  22. Catholic will definitely go undefeated thsi entire year, in my opinion. Webb looks a lot better than they have been the past two years, but Pemberton is just a much better coach than 90% of the coahces in Knoxville (probably Tennessee, too). He does the most with the least, that is for sure. When people bring up great coaches, his name isn't mentioned, but if he stays at Catholic about two more years (after the move to public), there is no doubt people will talk about him as the best coach in Knoxville, bar none. Quarles couldn't do the things Pemberton can with the kids he has. Trust me. He is the best defensive coach easily, and his teams are getting better as he continues the middle school feeder program at Sacred Heart.
  23. LaMarcus Coker and then everybody else, with Miller a distant second.
  24. I think Lamon has the ability to play for UT, but I don't know if he'll be offered by them, unless, of course, he already has been! I just think with Turner being recruited and the recent commitment from the kid out of David Lipscomb, and the fact UT has a great set of receivers led by a redshirt freshman at their disposal already, it would be hard to give a scholarship when a great defensive tackle or linebacker might be available. I hope he does though, i think that besides Turner, he has more talent than any other receiver in the state (including Rogers), but we'll have to wait and see what happens. As for Ferguson, UT definitely won't recruit him, but he should get looks from a lot of other schools in the south.
