1. You guys are getting a great coach and a good guy in Coach Swenson.  Good luck to Hickman Co.

    825607297

This was enough to make me become a plus member. I've been hearing all week at work that coach swenson was leaving. Your not only getting a great coach but also a great family. I'm not understanding whats going on. Thats two coaches on our staff gone and i've heard rumor there may be more jump ship.

  2. The fact is Huntingdon will have fewer athletes overall almost every year than Milan. What Huntingdon is doing better than milan right now is actually GETTING to the finals. They have a core of relatively young coaches that have made a huge impact on the way things have changed in Mustang country. All of the sudden its Huntingdon thats winning the tight games and getting all the breaks. These guys have instilled the idea Huntingdon has a tradition of winning football and its their birthright to play in and win big games. Its a great time to be a Mustang. thumb

  3. Let's just say people are starting to take CoachT a little to seriously and personally. I remember the days when you could agree to disagree on things without being brought down by them. Hillwood and Camden made me into a believer this year with there play. I am one that has to see it to believe it, and like I said before I never liked Huntingdon never will, that is like supporting the New York Yankees to me. Once again I am pulling for Alcoa. I saw them play against Lipscomb last week and they match-up well against Huntingdon it will be a good game and I think Alcoa will win in the end. By the way it is kinda nice people point me out in post cause then I know you have read what I have said and it stays with you, maybe some people may catch on later down the road.

Gerry, Gerry, Gerry, how could you compare the Mustangs to the Yankees. Huntingdon is what high school football is about. A town that totally revolves around the high school. Heck, our Jr. high games have a bigger crowd than most high schools and thats win or lose. We're a school with one of the smallest enrollments in 2A. Our town doesn't have a single red light, not one. We just got a super walmart and you'd think it was the jackson mall. We are, as one of our coaches put it, "small market." We're the Minn. Twins man. We have some athletes, sure, but in general our kids just outwork most. Huntingdon represents public schools in general and the success you can have with community support, great coaching and hard working players.

  4. Im back and feeling even better...there just aint no way with the sissy dbs huntinton has that they can stop us...cant cover and tackle like loosey goosey.

i seen yesterday u got 2 more smurfs #33 and #44 what they weigh a buck fity? Trying 2 play d line, our line will drive thier helmets up in thier chest cavitys....were gonna pound u up real good and then go deep, i hate to be cocky but yall' are.

    TWISTAS OUT.

Quit trying to talk like your from Compton or some sugar. Your from Alcoa Tn. Lay off the MTV and learn to communicate. Your boys haven't played a team yet thats gonna hit your tail as hard Huntingdon. PLUS...... we can match your speed. You better set your feet boy, because the pain is coming and all that mumbo jumbo you folks talk is worthless now.

  5. The thing that I find very entertaining about this thread is these two young fellas trying to come up with a defense to stop Huntingdon. Kevin Ward, Jeff Morris, etc. etc. must be morons. They should have asked you college kids. Huntingdon throws when they want to, you don't dictate that to them. Last friday night I sit in the stands and watched a drive that started from around the Mustang 20 with roughly 7 min and some change left on the clock. We all knew that if they didn't score on this drive, it was over. At some time during that drive I remember thinking," they'll have to throw the ball", it was third and 5. Still they ran. It was a sea of purple. In my mind all I could think was " Swenson, you're gonna have to let one fly down here or we're gonna run out of time" Huntingdon calls time out somewhere inside the milan 20 with just over a minute left. I think it was 3rd and five. I figured some kind of flood pass to at least take a shot at the end zone. Offtackle, touchdown. Since the Martin game in 97 I don't think i've witnessed a more methodical drive in high school football. And the best part, beating milan on Johnny heck field by 5 points. thumb

  6. Joei Fiegler- 1,389 yards passing and 17TD's/4INT's

Dustin Lindsay- 1,377 yards rushing and 38 regular season TD's

Brandon Warren- 476 recieving yards (Mr. Football Finalist)

These are stats before the playoffs. Not sure on the others but Lindsay is a little over 2000 now. I will post them after looking at today's Knox News Sentinal.

    825461406

If I remember correctly Huntingdon also fumbled away 3 more scoring oppurtunities inside the cheatam 30.

  7. its funny how the only ones of yall who say all this crap & makes u look stupid are old men who have nothin better to do with their time...next year when yall have to play 7 games instead of 2 or 3 we'll find out about this, it will take more than this for yall to become the dominant force in west tn football...sorry...& no matter what yall can say or who yall can talk to you...ill know more than yall about it cuz i played in the game.

    825456101

    u played and lost.

  8. listen mustang69...you know absolutely nothin your talking about...the 1st time we played Huntingdon we totally whipped them...if u want ill get u the game film...this game our line whipped yalls but yall linebackers were too good & ares werent...& about yall gettin the breaks...i've watched the film & saw some of the calls & over 1/2 of them are crap...one time the refs spotted the ball & then moved it forward & huntingdon got a 1st down because of it...dont talk to me like u know what your talken about...your a fan...in the stands...not on the field working for it...so shut your mouth cuz your the MORON! this is my part of my life...so keep yourself & your thoughts in your true place...the stands.

    825455918

You've lost your mind if you think Milan was a better team than huntingdon. I've yet to find one neutral individual who thought Milan was even as good. You guys have been outplayed, outcoached, and now there is a new dominant force in west tn and it hurts. I love the way milan plays football, and the way the community rallies around the school but for now there is a new sheriff in town.

  9. I went to see Huntingdon play all year, and i have seen milan a lot.  I also went to some of the milan's practices this week.  Milan is ready, they say that Huntingdon is too weak, and that they will not stop the running game of the Dawgs!  So we better change our shirts from last year to Milan Bulldogs 2004 State Champs, we have even ordered our turf shoes!

    825451929

whew, thank you for posting. Now huntingdon is guaranteed a win because since the playoffs started you've yet to be right. thankyou

  10. I really don't want to say too much, for I am from McKenzie. We are done for the year and with 2A. I hope we do well in 1A next year.

I just wanted to say good luck to the Milan Bulldogs in this game. I hope ya'll win and all players are safe. Good luck Bulldogs, all of McKenzie is pulling for ya.

BTW, if ya'll make it to round 5, I will be there with ya. Again, good luck Bulldogs!!!

    825449801

I really don't won't to say much, for I am from Huntingdon. We are still playing for the year in 2A. I hope you (mckenzie) get bombed in 1A but I hope your players are safe. Good luck War Eagles and if Huntingdon ever gets put out in the first round, I'll be there to watch you guys beat Mckenzie next year. thumb

  11. Milan's defense may be able to stop Huntingdon because to be quite honest with you folks the Huntingdon offense has not really exploded yet this postseason.  They scored 35 against Loretto, a team that Fairview scored over 50-points against.  They scored 14 against Cheatham, a team whose defense had been known to be suspect from time to time.  Last week they scored 26 points against Camden, despite the fact that they dominated the game statistically.  I think that Huntingdon will win this football game Friday night, but I believe this based on the way that the Mustangs defense has played throughout the playoffs this November.  Huntingdon began the playoffs be pitching two straight shutouts against Loretto (5-5) and Cheatham (7-3).  Loretto and Cheatham had two of the better tailbacks in the entire midstate this past season in Eli Fisher and Landon Jones, who both eclipsed the 1,500 yard rushing mark in '04.  This past week Huntingdon held Camden (9-1) to 6-points.  That was the same Camden team who featured Josh Boyd, who was also a 1,500 yard back in '04, and that rolled over Lewis County and Fairview by a combined score of 67-6 in the first two rounds of the playoffs.  What would lead me to believe that Daylan Walker and the Milan offense is just going to run through the Huntingdon Mustangs defense this week???  I have said many times that Milan has been the "Cinderella Story" of this year's postseason because they beat Mitchell (8-2), Westview (8-2), and Carver (9-1), despite finishing the regular season at 6-4 with some of those losses being to teams who were not better than the Dawgs.  As you all know the clock eventually has to strike midnight for Cinderella, so in this case I see that happening at around 7:00PM this upcoming Friday.

    Huntingdon-28

    Milan-14

    825449013

I'll agree with you on your assesment. Earlier in the year the Mustang offense seemed more explosive but with that wide open type offense,(they were slinging it around alot more then) also came the turnovers. What I think has happened is that in order to limit turnovers Huntingdon is playing alot more smashmouth, low risk football and very stingy defense. Both are the combinations that win championships. From looking at the statistics these two teams are very much alike. They're gonna beat you with the ground game and sneak a pass in every so often. Both play good defense. Turnovers will decide this game.

  12. :D

    DearOldDad,

you are insane if you think that Huntingdon's coaches are better than Milan's.  How many state championships have Mansfield and his boy's won or gone to.  That's what I thought, think before you write that kind of mess.

    825447144

They've played for two, won one. Milan has played for two under Morris and won two. Huntingdon very rarely can match milan talent wise on the field but still, they compete every year with them. Smaller enrollment (we only get them from inside our city), less athletes, yet still we come, and we come for you.

  13.  FIRST OF ALL...Carver had a better record than you  buddy so I wouldnt start downing them. Carvers running back would have DEALT with the Huntingdon defense  . Do you think about your comments before you post?  I mean your like 50 :P  . I thought you would have common sense. 11-1 must not be good going into the 3rd round??   Or am I wrong? AND their defense was allowing 14 PPG!!!! How many did we score? oh..30. The fact is that you play a weak region in the playoffs..that will come to an end next season. You go 3-0 the first three games because you play weak teams. That FOLKS is just a fact. You are not unbeatable. I can promise you that. Nothing you say on here is going to scare anybody...LETS GO Jeauxnnn , Jeauxny, Beaux and KJCuTS

DearOldDad-Huntingdon wins this one easy. I love it ;) . You get beat twice by 2 7-2A teams and you still say you will win EASILY. May I remind you ..that Huntingdons defense let up 6 TDS to Markei Guy?  Or that you Let up 395 yards on the ground to Milan???  THE SCARY THING IS>>> MILANS IMPROVED GREATLY! :o

    825444627

blah, blah, blah. How old are u, 10. To be naive enough to believe Memphis Carver was a great team and that Milan pulled off some miracle. I bet you just got back from watching Friday Night Lights and you think that show is about you didn't you? Carver plays zero def. and I haven't seen them personally but memphis teams are all the same. Small up front, no blocking skills, fast at the skill positions, meh you know the rest. Your daddy says Huntingdon wins, trust your daddy. ;)

  14. Carver was extremely talented, a lot more than Hunt. or Milan. Milan and Hunt are pretty even. I hope Milan recovers from the physical beating they took from Carver. Hunt. may need to send carver a thank you note should they win. I believe Milan was cocky and stupid last year and showed Hunt every weakness Hunt had last year. Hunt. being the good and well coached team they were, learned from the game and fixed the problems.  This game as most all close games are will be decided by coaching (advantage M), special teams(adv H), & turnovers.

    825444564

Carver stunk. Alot of athletes poorly coached. Typical Memphis team. Coaching adv. Huntingdon, special teams Milan. Huntingdon wins this one easy.

  15. The first time we played huntingdon i thought their defense looked soft. I'm sure that they have fixed some of their problems but there is no way their defense is as good as the carver team that we scored 30 on. I think if were going to win it's gonna come down to our defense stopping donald and weathers. As good as our tackles, ends, linebackers, and saftey are there is no way donald and weathers should have big games.

    825443287

Are you talking about the Carver defense that was shredded by Dresden? Your probably right. Your def. is awesome. Man, you guys never learn. B)

  16. YOU WILL NOT BEAT MILAN BY 3 TDS. YOU WILL NOT HOLD MILAN TO 14 POINTS! ARE YOU BLIND? This isnt Camden fellas, Milan just went down to Memphis last nite and shocked a 11-1 carver squad that is the best game we have played all season. Keep thinking this 34-17 or whatever you want to say. Your playing in Milan this year. Again. Dont you love it?

    825443226

:D sure, whatever you say man.

  17. After all the athletes Huntingdon and Milan lost last year who would have ever thought that we would end up in the same game as last year except in a different place?  Milan wins the 1st game but i really think they did all they could to win that game...Do they have any thing else left?  I know all the Huntingdon and Milan seniors who graduated last year would give anything to play in this game right now...I just hope its as good of a game as it was last year or atleast i hope Huntingdon wins.  Milan's coaches are prolly the best in west tennessee and you know they will come in with a great game plan but will it be enough to win the game and get to the buro??  I really dont see it happening but maybe im wrong.

Final Score Huntingdon 35 Milan 17

    825443051

No, Huntingdon's coaches are the best in west tn after defeating an athletically superior Milan team last year and doing it at a school with far less numbers, i'd say its time to nix our "TRADITION" of feeling inferior. Don't be the typical Huntingdon fan that assumes milan has the best everything. Both these teams will have the same gameplan. Ram the ball down your throat until the other team breaks, thats west tn. football. I can't wait. I'm picking Huntingdon by 3 td's.

  18. We hear about how great Camden's coaches are and this and that but why do we not hear about Huntingdon's coaches?

    825440955

If most o our fans got on here and proclaimed the greatness of our coaches they wouldn't have anyone to blame for losses. In my humble opinion this is the best staff Huntingdon High School has seen or will ever see assembled together .We've added one piece at a time. Sure, we've had good coaches before, but we never had one who got us past the first round of the playoffs until Mansfield and that includes the great Paul Ward. This group has taken a school with one of the smallest enrollments in 2A to two state championship games, numerous regional titles, played in the semifinals a bunch and now after losing possibly the greatest assembly of athletes we've ever seen here last year, we're back in the quarterfinals. We take it for granted that it will go on forever but I for one dread the day this staff breaks up. When it does thats when we'll all be talking about how good they were.

  19. Mustang Fan's- We were a little dead last week. I hope to see a fired up crowd to go along with our fired up team. When the tunnel is made for the players to run on the field all parent's and fans's should go out and support their team. It makes them feel good to see the people they love out on the field supporting them. And all you mom's that may not have to work today- it would be nice if you could make some noise maker's to hand out to the crowd. Camden is coming ready-Our boy's are ready too.Let's be ready to show our support LOUDLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have a Mustang at home and he say's this make's a world of difference when the crowd is as pumped up as the team is. Thank's in advance for your support and GO MUSTANGS!!!!! May each team have an injury free night.

    825440725

It is truly a sad day, when we as supporters have to remind our fellow mustang fans to stand up and cheer. And may I add that when we cheer, let us cheer words of encouragement, positive words, not the crying and moaning I so often hear from my fellow mustangers. If we supporters are going to get on here and claim that because of "tradition" (I use that word loosely) we expect to win then lets act like it. From players all the way down to fans. The only tradition i've witnessed lately is the tradition of sitting on our hands and being afraid something bad is going to happen. And believe me, we are known far and wide for this "Tradition". So bring some noise makers, air horns, yell when something good happens and heck, just sometimes yell period! Get your lazy tails off the bleachers and support these young men. Because you know what, it can end as quickly as it started and we'll have to get out that other shaped ball.

    GO MUSTANGS
