  1. Huntingdon was on their own 35 yard line with roughly 1 min left in the game. Not sure but think they had one TO left. Holder by all accounts has the strongest arm on the team, I think at one time there were plans for him to play qb. He was throwing to our best receiver, thompson, and from my vantage point thompson was behind the safety.Looked like the same play he ran in the state championship game from Donald to Weathers. If coach had chosen to beat them as you say as he had done all night he would have ran the ball down their throats. Unlikely to happen with one min. left. Coach knows his boys and I sure wouldn't second guess his knowledge of offense.
  2. I only cuss kids if they need it. Ex: When I tell my son to get up in the morning to go to school I get a 50/50 chance of his immediate attention. But when I add " Get your _____ up!" I get immediate results. I have a doctorate so I don't consider myself weakminded. But that is also the language of the "lovey dovey" generation thus I take no offense to your peace, love, dope attitude. I would never cuss your kids unless they needed it.
  3. I think this whole thread is just an extension of our society taking on and being force fed liberal views. The whole "I don't want my boy cussed", "don't use profanity around my boy", "cussing is bad". etc, etc. is just a sign of the times. Daddy's and Moma's making sure junior doesn't get his little feeling hurt because hearing a cuss word might scar him. Its these same parents who "reason" with their kids instead of demanding they follow rules. Its the same parents who don't spank their kids because it hurts, they give time out instead. I don't have a problem with any coach using a little language to get their point accross. In a soft society maybe we need some people to be a little hard.
  4. The state will call no more witnesses your honor. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  5. What? Did you read the previous posts from poindexter at all?
  6. Here's the word on Goodpasture. Their coach is an arrogant !*!*!*! . They stockpile players whom will sit out a year to get eligible then play the following year. They mainly go out and try to get running backs because otherwise they would be too much like they were in the mid 90's which is to slow to win big games these days. I'd say we can all expect this trend to continue if not worsten. After taking their beatdown from Alcoa a couple years ago, David goes out and gets him a few more athletes, even at receiver. They take yet anoter beatdown and so the trend will continue. Of course the cougar faithful dispute these accusations, claiming the young athletes have been a GP since first grade etc. They will even go as far as to call others jealous and proclaim the superior knowledge of their coaches that thusly earns them victories on the gridiron. This in turn allows them to use a quasi "us vs. the world" mentality. Which is eerily similar to rich kids dressing like bums in an attempt to look normal.
  7. Read the post greasers. If the kid is struggling with his grades it didn't happen overnight. He should have gotten that stuff taken care of early in the semester instead of waiting to use it as an excuse to get out of spring ball. Hey, maybe the kid just wants to quit football and needed an excuse. You guys can use that "get my grades up"crap on somebody who will listen, and evidently his coach ain't one of them. And yes, I do think football is the king and should take priority. I don't condone quitting a sport in the middle of the season so you can go to spring practice but thats not what this is about anyway. This is about a kid who ran track with bad grades then decided to lay out of spring practice to get his grades up. /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=" Oh, yea...congratulations on getting messages to all the proper authorities poindexter. I'm sure that will fix it.
  8. I'm with the coach on this one. The kid should have thought about his grades way before April. Now he wants to pretend he's going to "study real hard and get his grades up" /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=" while the rest of the team goes out and works their can off. So we are to assume that while the 2or 3 hour practice going on he is going to be locked in his room smothered in academia, learning in 10 days what his tail should have been doing all year. Its rediculous. The truth be known he will probably be burning up the road if he can drive or sitting at home playing video games. I guess i'm too much of a realist. If the son of a gun is too lazy to get his grades up during the year then why lie to ourselves and believe he will do it now. Just let the old boy squeak by and play football. I doubt it sacrifices his future. What the kid should have done was quit track early in the year. It would have been much less painful on his teammates who are depending on his services in football. Looks like he chose track over football, which is fine. But don't take it out on the coach. Maybe he lives in a reality where you make your choices and live with them. I applaud the coach for standing up to a society that believes everyone is entitled to something. That no one should ever be let down or feel bad. That you are responsible for yourself and mommy and daddy aren't always going to be there for you and rub your boo boo and make it all better. The young man learned a valuable lesson. One that will help him later on in life when he becomes president because he got to study a little more and get his grades up during spring practice.
  9. I've known coach since he moved here and i'll promise you haitis would freeze over before he would let his players think a team is better than them. And he sure as heck wouldn't quote it to the jackson sun. You guys must be liberals. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  10. Couple of things here.....Since when did recovering a fumble not benefit the team that received it? It is customary for the teams coach who won to praise the team he just kicked the crap out of. And last but not least....I have never seen a kid have cramps that lasted three and a half quarters nor have I seen a coach hold a kid out for cramps that long even in practice let alone a season opener. When your a sorry team you sure as heck don't need your stud rb being held out for cramps. I love you man. If you were on the bill o'reily show you'd be raped.
  11. I have heard our head coach talk about clovis east and tim murphy. I believe this may be the version of the wing t we will be running. Looked like it in the spring. VERY VERY physical style of play.
  12. I think people here already have a good idea who it will be.
  13. Probably has enough sick days to retire a year early. I'm expecting a big announcement the first part of january /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  14. I agee with much of what is in this post. One coach can make alot of difference in a program. For years here in huntingdon we have had great coaches, great players, community support, etc. etc. etc. I always like to go back and look to see when a team excelled and then I like to see what the "x" factor was that caused it. Here we've been blessed with much athleticism, support, and all that good stuff so thats a push. So then it comes down to coaching and that tells the story for me, bottom line.
  15. My question is this? Did all those runningbacks for GP play middle school football for GP? Or were those the ones who were redshirted in 05 when we (huntingdon) played you guys?
  16. Sorry buts here is how it works. Once your program gets established and you start winning you can no longer get cupcakes to play you. Lewis Co. is the exception but they do play two top tier 1A schools. Ex: At Huntingdon in the early nineties we played halls and south fultion. Once we started winning and going to the semi's n a regular basis they dropped us and we picked up a different team. Usually a tougher team because when your kicking tail nobody wants to play you but the good teams. I suspect this is what happened to camden. This was not some planned way to develop their kids into private beating machines.
  17. Swenson is in an area where he could go 3-5A. He may come home but I agree with LU, he may find another rebuilder or he may surprise everybody and stay where he's at. You can check the record where he's been since he started and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure it out. HC was the ultimate test. Test passed.
  18. I wouldn't laugh. The force is strong with this one. Through jedi mind tricks and the powers of the dark side your backs will all run 5.0 flat 40 times and fumble the ball for no apparent reason. /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" />
  19. Yes, I am sure he will have all the athletes from that hotbed of talent in hickman county ready. Just as David Martin will have his athletes from Nashville and several surrounding counties fired up and ready. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  20. Here we go again with Gerry "tough schedule" Bertier. /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=" Dad told you last week that HC would win. . Dad is telling you that HC will beat GP. Let me explain.... You see men, HC is not the same style of football that Camden or Lewis Co.plays. They are going to go right at GP with a smashmouth style reminisent of the early age of football. A style that was forged over many years in 4A football getting their tales kicked. This was the best thing that could happen for 2A football in the west tn. bracket. Hickman Co. ,unlike others, will not be intimidated. Why would they? For 4 years they've played faster and better competition than camden or LC combined. Regardless of what happens HC will beat GP to a pulp physically and win or lose the next fellow will reap the reward. I've predicted this matchup since week zero, i'm gonna stick with my guns. Steady boys, steady. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  21. If HC can capitalize on Lewis co's turnovers they win going away. Steady boys, steady.
  22. Wow, how didn't we all think of this. So what your saying is that if red boiling springs would get out of that 1A region and challenge a few big boys there program would improve and be able to beat trousdale. And you are also implying that by GP playing better teams their players have become genetically enhanced over a period of time, allowing them to have superior size and stregth, almost like the Russians who live in the outer most northern climates. I see now. GP hasn't got the cream of the crop in north nashville where there school is conveniently located near those of hunters lane, maplewood, etc. They developed that size and speed by genetically enhancing their athletes due to extreme conditions..i.e. tough games. /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> They don't stockpile players every year, they simply have built their players like a callice on the hand of the carpenter. Mr. Miagigo is their trainer, wax on wax off, sand the flool Danielson!
  23. If H-town wasn't playing Milan I would be there 3 hours before kickoff. My prediction....HC wins but it will be close. After talking to a couple of H-town folks at the last LCvsHC contest I came away with the conclusion that both teams were very evenly matched with all scores coming from turnovers. Its tough to beat a good team twice and i'm going to stick with my prediction that HC is the team to beat on this side of the bracket. The winner of this one defeats GP and plays milan for a chance to go to the big game. I think your looking at two of the top 5 2A teams in the state in this matchup.
  24. Exactly. HC was one of the worst programs in the state. Nobody would touch it with a ten foot pole. Gotta love it for those kids to get to experience a season like they've had and it will only get better. This is what high school football is all about. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  25. You folks can deny it. But Hickman Co. is a very good football team. In public middle tn. HC and Lewis Co. are the cream of the crop. There is no -one close and either could advance well into the playoffs. Both are very similar styles which is run run run. Teams like waverly have to pass and thats not a good thing. Waverly would do well to copy these teams in their efforts of trying to field a competitive program.
