  1. All the AC fans need to let up on dragon123. He and his Clinton buddies have 9 years of pent up frustration they are having to get out right now. I can't blame them for being so excited about winning. I want to congratulate Clinton on finally beating Anderson Co. For goodness sakes, the Clinton players that last beat AC ('99, was it?) have their own kids getting ready to being playing in this one.
  2. I don't consider it to be crying when fan are discussing field conditions. Everyone knows that Clinton played on the same field. I would dare to say that Clinton themselves would much rather play on better field conditions. It is unfortunate that either school has to play on that field. Not to look past anyone, but AC problem has more of a reason to start talking about week #2 than does Clinton. Shelbyville should be an athletic team.
  3. All I have to say is that if Clinton doesn't win, Davis needs to send every one of the coaches looking for another job. For years, people cried for Shattuck to be let go. I believe that the powers that be saw that he didn't have a lot to work with. It's the Jimmy's and Joe's, not X's and O's. Clinton has so much talent this year, they should cruise straight to Cookeville and a state championship. The coaches will have failed the kids if they loose a game this year. For Anderson County's sake I just hope they can keep it close, with it being televised and all. Thursday night will be a sad time to be a Maverick. We have rode our luck for nine years. Luck won't help us against a Clinton team that is as talented as this one. I do want to remind one of the posters something though. They were right, AC has never went 10-0. Clinton won't this year either. Maybe 9-0, but not 10-0.
  4. The player that left the field after the play on the sideline.
  5. There was an ejection in the AC vs. Karns game.
  6. Was by far the best fireworks show in town. It can be seen on Facebook from the BBB Sports page. It was by far the best entry I have ever seen for a high school game. Probably one of the best in college either.
  7. Hats off to OR. Their front four played extremely well. By far the best front four the Mavs have seen this year. On a side note, I think it is interesting that Oak Ridge is basking in the glory of a win over a poor old AC team on the other end of the county. As far as schedule, last time I checked we are in the same Region, right?
  8. He was 15-19. That is impressive. Though when considering that Maryville was sitting back in a soft cover 2 or 3 most of the night. It doesn't sound as good. When Maryville did start running some press coverage in the 4th, they got a pick six. I'm not saying the kid can't run. Just didn't think he was the most dangerous passer. I have only got to see him minimally.
  9. This should be a good game. Oak Ridge has seemed to have turned things around since the pre-season. The Mavs showed that they could play some D on Friday night. As far as Oak Ridge throwing the ball, why would they want to. I have not been impressed with the throwing ability of the kid. He does seem to run pretty well. Oak Ridge better keep it on the ground. If AC doesn't show up in all aspects, they will get beat. The more exciting news it the fireworks show planned for the beginning of the game. If you are going to this game, you need to get there before kickoff. The fireworks are suppossed to be even better than last weeks. That's hard to imagine, I know. Pyroshows does a great job. I don't think there is a school that has a better entrance now that AC has fireworks, smoke, fire, etc. Mavs by 5.
  10. This is a huge game in the region for these teams. AC plays well and starts blocking up front, they should have a great chance of winning this game. They had a let-down last year against the panthers. Final score 35-21. Go Mavs!!
  11. I am looking at the big picture. The big picture is the team and not the individual. I apologize that I have been mistakened. I have been around the game long enough to know that you don't have to go to a large school to become an NFL player. I am saying that without a doubt, a large D1 school has more OVERALL talent than a small school in most cases. Sorry for the spelling error. I did go to a mid-major school. Mid-major or D1, I'm just really glad to have finished. Glad they didn't check my spelling before they issued my diploma.
  12. Example Big School-Tennessee 63, Small School-Western Kentucky 7. Big School-Tennessee 15, Another Big School- UCLA 19. THERE IS A TALENT DIFFERNCE. If a kid could play at a D1, why would they go to a Tusculum.
  13. I do have to agree that bashing a 17 year old kid on the board is sad. I do agree that Wilson has all the tangibles to be a bigtime player. The difference in those kids that look, run, jump, and catch the same is want to. Those that have it can play at the D1 level. Those that don't, will play at a D2 or NAIA school. Before you bash me, I'm not degrating the small schools. There is a big difference though in a UT or Alabama and a Tusculum. It would be nice for Wilson to flip the aggression switch on Friday nights. In my opinion, unless he starts playing physical, it will be a stretch for him to go on scholarship to a Tech or Austin Peay. Got all the skills, he needs to assert himself more on Friday nights. Great kid off the field. Sometimes that switch is hard to flip.
  14. MavMaximus, I understand what you are saying. But, they tried running it in from the 5 in the first half and were unsuccessful on 3 straight attempts. I agree that they need to be able to run the football but lets not get on here and be negative after a week one loss. There are many areas that the kids need to improve on. I liked how they fought back after being down by 20. I thought it was great to watch an exciting football game again at AC. We need to work on the run game I suppose; but it was encouraging to see a 1st time starter complete 19 passes for aroun 300 yards and 5, yes 5 TD's. Hats off to Chad Blakley. He was all over the field on both sides of the ball. We need to find some more guys that are willing to give their all and fight till the horn blows. Next week will be an emotional one for the coaching staff. Go Mavs!!!
  15. Both teams do have a long way to go. Oak Ridge having the ball inside the 5 isn't worth much at all. They had 30 yards of offense in AC penalities. I know that still counts, but it wasn't like they completely controlled the line of scrimmage. I think they even scored against the JV kids down on the goal line. I could be mistakened by that. I'm not real sure. OR did look good up front at times. The disheartning issue for OR is that they played their starters and only scored twice against AC 2's. Oh well, doesn't really matter right now anyways. It starts counting on Friday though. Lastly, wow, how fast is the Wilson kid?!?
  16. Clinton has had overall better talent most of those years that they have been beaten by AC. This year, AC will have to play a flawless game and get some key breaks in order to compete with a Clinton team that should handily win the region and make a deep run into the postseason. This year for sure, they have the Jimmy's and Joe's.
  17. That was more than a little info. It sounded like you know your stuff. Have a good day.
  18. Scooter, obviously you are were a lineman. I'm sorry to insult you. I did not mean that at all. I was actually just taking a stab at QB#7. I honestly do think that lineman know alot about the game. Very few DB's know what a 2i technique is. Sorry for the misunderstanding.
  19. This whole forum turned into a lame cat fight really quick. My sources tell me that Randy Hall is coming out of retirement to run the show. Randy has been laying quietly for several years and now is going to be given his chance to shine. He sure will look good on the sidelines considering all the weight he has lost in the past several months.
  20. From what I have heard, he wasn't any good as an assistant. There is no way he could hack it as the head man. He was a lineman when he played anyways. They don't know half as much about the game as QB's do.
  21. Word around town is that a new Head Coach will be named in the next day or so. Any idea on who this will be?
  22. I would have to agree with this post. Very intelligent post. Giving credit where credit is due, but also backing statements by facts. I wish the AC poster would have thought before they said that the Indians were a joke. I can remember in the 90's going to watch them play late during the playoffs. They have had some great teams and in my mind one of the great 1A programs in the state.
  23. Word is that the shot that Coleman through was a lighter shot. Sounds like Kerr's record stands.
