I thought I was going to see interesting information transferred on this thread this week. Very disapointing as well as direspectful on most posts I've seen. I feel THS will have to have EVERY break in the book AND play their BEST game of their lives to win. These goals are NOT unrealistic nor are they unattainable. "THE ROAD TO THE STATE CHAMPIONSHIP GOES THROUGH MARYVILLE" Not the first time you have seen me post this quote if you have been paying any attention.

Mr. Moyers, I am a veteran of the Big Red One. I can only speculate, from your logo, that which is obvious. Therefore, I know you feel me when I say that HONOR NEVER DIES !!! What an HONOR it is for my Vikings to get to this game to play THE Maryville Rebels.

Our O-line is big and mobile @ the tackle boxes. The guards and center are very mobile and athleitic. All 5 are the leaders in the weight room & off season. (among others, of course) 4 are Seniors. The center is a Junior. The 4 Seniors have played together since Middle school.

The respect and admiration that I'm seeing from the Elizabethton fans is very much appreciated. Coming from our Biggest rival, that is what sports are supposed to be all about !!!

As one of those three's parent, Heart and the HUMBLING opportunity to play for the REAL STATE CHAMPIONSHIP, much overrode any illness considerations. They can sleep on Sat. & Sun. The desire in my son's eyes was an unbelievable thing to witness this week !!! I cannot imagine how much more intense a look he will have this week when no one, AND I MEAN NOBODY, thinks we have a chance to win !!!!! I am completely awestruck and intensly PROUD of what all my Vikings have done this year. We win even if we lose the day after Thanksgiving dog. (FINAL 4) TIED FOR THE MOST WINS IN SCHOOL HISTORY !!!!! (w/ '72 Mecca team)(...facing East ?) I will talk no trash on this thread , just hope we can PLEASE stay civil and find out what each other will probably see on Friday. Face it, we only know what some of our kids say on here. It's a shame we can't play a regular season game every now and again. Nothing but RESPECT from the Viking that lives in my house for the Maryville Program. Good luck. Elizabethton fans and players are the CLASS of our region. Therefore, it is only fitting that THS & EHS play on Friday for the oppurtunity to go to the State Semi-finals. Take my word on this Dream2Achev, the vast MAJORITY of Vikings respect the Cyclones (Who else has won a conference championship in the last 9 years ?) We congradulate you on a GREAT season !! But, our boys have worked as hard in the off season as I have ever seen a high school team work. We can see that our lofty pre-season goal IS ATTAINABLE now. I am not very happy with all the negative crap I've seen on here concerning our coaching staff. Coach Stubbs and his staff have taken our program to the next level. He sees much more of this crap, & you might see him take the A-train right out of town. He is a definite rising star in the coaching circles. (note : 2 undefeated regular seasons in his 4 years @ THS / at least a share of the conference championship in ALL 4 YEARS ). Coach Shanks, Coach Mays, Coach Dowdell, Coach Proffitt, & yes, Coach Arnold are all of Head Coach caliber. I can think of a few schools that would sell their mineral rights to get any one of these guys to bring their programs around. I have to agree with some, we looked like we were "practicing" expanding our playbook against South. This is not a bad idea, but we were terribly out of sync on offense due to this. I sicerely hope all players finish the game with no injuries and with their heads held high win or lose, remember this game is the state quarter-finals !! I appreciate your comments and wish the Cyclones good luck on Friday.
