Read the last couple of pages of the District 7AAA forum for the background. Opinion: I doubt the Tullahoma players have any idea whether TSSAA and the ref assignor called Coach C. Coach C wouldn't tell the players if they had and he wouldn't quash the rumor even if it was untrue. He is focused on tonight's game in Columbia and wants his players to be also. Personally, I think someone pulled it out of the air and is trying to state it enough times so that people will believe it. It is probably only a clever-conceived fabrication.

Sounds like a conspiracy! Seems like I remember the same thing happening in the Girl's season. No, wait.......... That was Siegel complaining about the Warren County ref giving the game away to Tullahoma, wasn't it? This is sooooooo confusing!

Thanks for the link, tennfitz. The newspaper article seems to factual as far as it goes. It is unusual for either of those coaches to decline to play, but they MAY have had valid concerns about playing on fields that were pretty badly beat up - there is a long, important season ahead of both of them and there would be little point in risking player injuries under poor field conditions, etc - especially if they have a match already scheduled. Also consider that CCS MAY not have wished any more abuse on their fields and offered a good deal to Tullahoma, as has been suggested. Just another opinion........

gee...................how much "coaching" was done last summer by those coaches?

Pretty early to tell. So far in the young season, D8 teams seem to be struggling. Several teams are 1-1-0 or 0-1-0 (Franklin County is off to a really rough start at 0-2-0). Biggest question is whether Coach C can finally put together a complete package at Tullahoma for the boy's season - he probably has the talent and the right chemistry, but THS has faltered before in similar situations. Tonight's matchup against Siegel may give us a glimpse into that crystal ball. If THS wins, they'll go to 2-0-0 and may be off to the races. But, I don't think anyone knows how good Columbia might be, either. Gotta be honest, though. Overall, I think District 7 is stronger, such that when we get to sub-State, Region 4 may be represented by two D7 teams. Good luck with your season!

soccerislife, I don't know whether I'm least impressed by your poor grasp of geography, your lack of knowledge regarding who's who in TN soccer, or your elitest attitude suggesting the only soccer players deserving of All-State honors MUST play for a known team. 1. Tullahoma and Shelbyville aren't counties, they are cities. 2. Here's a helpful link to last year's AAA All-State team: http://dbsoccer.org/AllState/GirlsAllStateAAA2003.htm look closely and you'll find 4 players from Tullahoma and 2 from Coffee County on the list, along with several other players from what you may consider little-known teams. 3. ALL the girls I mentioned have played Division 1 select soccer; Kimberly Thorington plays for Brentwood Impact - maybe you've heard of them at least? State Champions in their age group the last three years and I believe Kimberly is one of their highest-scorers - even if her school team never wins a game, she is still an extremely talented soccer player and deserving of a (repeat) spot on the All-State team 4. Let me assure you the folks from Tullahoma will be quick to point out the Tullahoma girls have been in the AAA Final Four for six straight years, and that no one else can make that claim, so they'll claim to be in the "known" category - OBTW, do you know what the Final Four is? 5. Shelbyville is not known all around the state? Maybe true for girl's soccer (basketball is quite another story!), but stick around for a few years...........

mjuhb, you must be a Region 4 fan, coach, or frequent official. Nothing wrong with that, and your opinions count for something. Maybe mine do as well - Tullahoma: certainly the Kyle girl - she came through in the Regionals for Tullahoma in a huge way. Like Kyle, Adams has played hurt and ill; in good physical shape, could have taken Tullahoma to a State Championship (maybe next year) very good game against Hendersonville with a goal and an assist. The Sanders girl (see other posts) and the others - I don't think they are of all-state caliber. Buckner is headed for a D-I school, but coasted through her senior season without distinction. In my opinion, the MVP on Tullahoma's team received absolutely no recognition in District and probably won't for the state team either: #22 - she was moved from a wing position to outside back and has been rock-solid all season - I guess she kept the home field "no-losses" record intact with a huge save in the CCS game and has been an effective offensive threat as well, Shelbyville - lots of talent there and Martin's time will definitely come, especially if she blossoms into the kind of on-field leader Callie has been. Coffee County - Thorington: District MVP for a team that didn't live up to expectations, unfortunately. She will be a contrbutor to any team she goes to if she continues on. Lincoln County - Chelsea played her heart out, but the program seems to have fallen apart after much promise. P.S. - None of these girls lives in my house, but I'd be proud to call many of them my daughter!

Well mjuhb, you may not win the betting pool, but you didn't do too badly on your predictions. Correctly called the shuts out for Houston and Farragut, and nailed the Tullahoma score on the head. (the score of the Oak Ridge-Brentwood contest was right as well, but there was evidently a little fog in the crystal ball on that one). Do you care to update us on your view of the Houston-Oak Ridge Semi-Final and Finals?

Tough schedules/easy schedules - what matters is who shows up to play for any given game: this was again proven in Finley Stadium last night. I am overjoyed to see there is absolutely no mention of officiating being a factor in last night's Hendersonville/Tullahoma matchup. Put another way, there seems to be no whining from Hendersonville and to my knowledge, there were no incidents at or following the game between players, coaches, parents or other fans. I say this because the CoachT forums are full of comments regarding various Hendersonville games this season - many controversies seem to involve games Hendersonville took part in. Bearing in mind I'm only an interested observer..........One could get the impression Hendersonville is the problem - but given that they lost a heart-breaker last night and have accepted it with apparent grace, maybe we should consider Hendersonville a class act in Tennessee Girl's Soccer and look outside Hendersonville for the source of those controversies.
