1. Sorry for leaving Lewis Co out. They have some players as well. I already mentioned Colley as best DB, maybe best defensive player in region. Hatton is a man. He is a force and a good running back. Other than those two, nobody really stands out, which makes their accomplishments that much more amazing. Don't get me wrong, they have a slew of good players, but they play as a team and are well-coached. I was very impressed with them. They didn't win against Camden on a fluke, they earned it. As for some other players worth mentioning, Waverly has a good TE in Mangrum and DT/OL in Jewell. #84 for Adamsville is a very good defensive lineman. Just wish 6-2A much luck in the playoffs!

  2. Boyd is a much better back than Smith and the numbers prove it. Boyds stats: 159 rushes, 1526 yards, 9.6 yards per carry, and 22 touchdowns to Smiths: 212 rushes, 1523 yards, 7.2 yards per carry, and 19 touchdowns. If Boyd got that many carries, it would amount to an extra 509 yards giving him a total of 2035. Also, Boyd scores a td for every 7 carries. Using the same numbers he would also have 30 tds. Boyd gets criticized and it is only because he doesn't get to carry the ball very much. Smith gets it 6 more times a game than Boyd. Boyd plays within an offense where the carries are shared. People think he had a bad game against Lewis Co, but he only had 12 carries. I don't want to take anything away from Smith by any means, I think he is a terrific back; I would take him anyday on a team of mine, but I just think Boyd is better. Just an opinion. I think at qb you have to go for Lamm at Loretto or the kid at Richland. On defense, I think that Leonard from Camden, McCormick and Gilbert from Riverside, and #40 for Richland are the best defensive players in the region, not just at linebacker. And the Colley kid from Lewis Co. is probably the best db.

  3. Riverside is a good team. They are physical, faster than some think, huge, and very well-coached. I don't think you can blame the coaches for the punting situation. I saw both of their punters booming the ball in pregame workouts before. But when they get into a game it is a different situation. You have heard the old phrase, "You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink, " and I think it is appropriate here. I am almost 100% certain that Riverside's coaches give special teams their due attention, but they can't go on the field and do it, the players have to do it. I think that Riverside can go deep into the playoffs. Smith is an unbelievable back, Gilbert and McCormick are as good of linebackers as you will see, and the whole team plays hard for 4 quarters. But they won't be sneaking up on anyone, because this observer thinks that people that know high school football knows that Riverside is one heck of a team. Good luck to Riverside! Represent 6-2A well!

  4. Eddie,

Coaches are good or bad usually depending on the talent level at their school. It is not easy work and having people second-guessing your decisions is not an easy thing to take. Coaches work hard in order to be prepared and give their team a chance to win. People should learn to live with their coach's decisions. If not, get a degree, get a coaching job, and then find out how easy it is.

  5. no one said we didnt get beat fair and square vs lewis but the refs at camden gave some very questionable calls on 1st and goal from the one. this didnt happen just once but about 2 or3 times. and your chain gang were trying to talk trash to us.

You got smashed on the goalline not once, but 3 times against Camden. How did the refs do anything? Richland was 1st and goal on the 1 yard line 3 different times and didn't score. If Richland would have scored, then the officials would have signaled it. Plain and simple. You just have to have an excuse on why you lost. The reason you lost was because you didn't get the job done. Real men own up to that fact that they just got beat, and simply want another opportunity to prove themselves. If you have any competitive spirit, then you will want to face both Lewis Co. and Camden again. You guys have a pretty good team. But you also have many mental roadblocks in your way.

  6. You got beat fair and square by both Lewis Co. and Camden. Cheap shots are the norm with Richland and they start doing in when they are getting beat. You got beat because of play on the field, not by anything the refs did. That is just an excuse. It just proves what kind of people you are. Take your beatings like a man. You guys have a good team, but the attitude needs cleaning up. Just an opinion.

  7. Get ready for some cheap shots Stewart Co. Richland is the dirtiest team I have ever seen play. They have a decent team. They play hard, are pretty fast, and are physical, but they don't play the game like men. If they get down, here comes the cheap shots. Anyone that has seen any of their games against Lewis, Riverside, and Camden know what I am talking about. Richland would be a great story in 6-2A if it weren't for their classless play. Richland wins the game, but they aren't winning any respect. Just an opinion.

  8. I just wanna say that Wilbanks is overrated and i hope that everyone has a safe and healthy game and everybody shows good sportsmanship.Go Raiders

You obviously are deranged. Wilbanks is one of the best linebackers in the state. Trust me, you will eat your statement after this game. Not because I say so, but because he will make you. I have seen him hurt enough people in person and on film to last a while.

  9. So let me get this straight....I'm being called an idiot by people who neglect their families and who can't do their jobs in a reasonable amount of time.  I suppose worse things could happen to me!!!!  I mean get real, you think coaches really have all the answers to everything?  You don't think that some fans have ever had a good idea?  You probably don't because you are too busy thinking it is impossible to teach a high school kid something as simple as where to run with a football.  I'll be happy to live in my fantasy world,  it's probsbly much better than your reality!!!

I believe that there are fans out there with football knowledge. Unfortunately, you are not one of them. Coaches don't have all the answers to everything, but about football they do. I would also dare say that the majority of coaches have tighter-knit families that those of other professions. The fact that most coaches are family men makes them successful. Just an opinion. And by the way, it is simple to tell a young man where to run the footballl. But you tell me how he should take the handoff, which foot should he push off of, where is the blocking going to open up the hole, and what is his path after he breaks the line of scrimmage? There are many other things involved than just telling a kid where to run the ball. It is much more complicated than it looks. Just what I think, but I know it will not matter to you. You probably sat the bench because you didn't work hard at practice, you complained to mommy, she went to the school board chairman, and you still didn't play because your coach had some guts. Since you didn't get your way, you have held a grudge against all coaches. Either that or you are just plain bitter at the world. Lighten up, life is too short to be angry all the time.

  10. You say that you have to teach 11 different players 11 different things, but you obviously don't know much, because every team has like 10 coaches out there.  So its more like every body teaches 1 position 1 thing.  And it's not like you change much during a year, so you have months on end teaching the same thing.  How much more repitition do you need?  And you make sacrificing family time sound like some noble cause.  If you ask me if you can't get things done all week and have to work all weekend long too teaching these kids your not worth what they pay you.  Here's an idea....if your players can't learn what you are teaching them, get them a playbook and make em study it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is obvious that you know absolutely nothing about football or what is takes to coach a team. You have 11 players on defense and 11 on offense and usually, they have 11 different things to do when a play is run. A coach or coaches, and I have never been on a staff with 10, has to make sure that all 11 are doing everything perfectly. We have to worry about stances, cadences, hand placements, and a million other variables to make sure that the play will work. Family time is sacrificed studying our next opponent and making our defensive and offensive schemes work against our opponent. I doubt you have ever had to sacrifice to do anything in life. Players have playbooks for reference material, but the playbook only outlines the particular scheme. That scheme has to be taught to the players in a very methodical way. I am laughing as I type this because I understand that you are too big of an idiot and too wrapped up in your own little fantasy world to understand. I have respect for any profession that chooses to help others and make productive individuals out of young men.

  11. Give me a break, how hard can it be to tell high school kids what to do?!!  I mean call a play and they do the rest.  Don't overestimate what these people do.  And to use your analogy about other professions, lets talk about accountants.  They don't do anything special yet everybody thinks they are so great.  NEWSFLASH...they use calculators!!!!!  I mean they don't invent the numbers or how to add them they just take what is in front of them anbd punch a few buttons and their job is done!!!  What would it matter if people were screaming at them while they did it?!!  Some people just want to make more out of things than are really there.

    825741849

Trust me, it is not easy to get high school kids to do what you tell them. First, it has to be explained, then modeled correctly, and then the kid has to get repetition after repetition at the particular skill, and maybe then, they might do it right. As for a play being called, you have to teach 11 different things to 11 different people on every play. It is not always easy. Mustangfan, you sound like somebody with an ax to grind against some coach. Maybe you were always picked last at kickball or had to sit the bench. Whatever the case, maybe you should come to a practice someday to see what goes into it, before you decide how easy it is. You only see what goes on during a Friday night game and have no ideas the countless hours that the coaches put into the effort. You have a weekend, but during football season, coaches do not, as they work Saturday and Sunday. They sacrifice leisure time, time with family, only to work hard for their football team. So, why don't you find something better to do than bash coaches, and accountants for that matter.

  12. I think you are exactly right that the best coaches are in the stands!!!  Fans have an unbiased opinion of what is going on.  Most coahces are too deep in the forest to see the trees.  In fact a smart coach would sit down once a week with fans from his team to get input and suggestions of how to improve.  This probably sounds silly to some of you, but you know its true that two heads are better than one, so certainly 500 heads are better than 6.

    825741690

You are absolutely out of your mind. The coaches are with the players everyday, so they know what is going on. The people in the stands have no idea about what plays to call, who to play, or anything else for that matter. You will probably say during the game, " Why doesn't coach put Joe Schmoe in the game and throw him a pass?" But what you don't know is that Joe Schmoe missed every pass in practice that week and did not give an effort to better himself. These are things that the coaches know and they make decisions based on these things every day and especially every Friday. To take suggestions from a fan or set of fans would be ludicrous. The fans are too emotionally involved to make decisions about football, especially those fans related to players on the field. Leave the coaching to the coaches, or better yet, get your degree, get a job at a school, and let's see how well you do. You people think coaching is easy, that anyone could do it. Well, let me show up at your place of work, yell at you and tell you how sorry a job you are doing. Now, that sounds like fun.

  13. I don't care how tall he is or how much he weights, he is the real deal. He has moves and he can absolutely fly. He is a natural runner, and for those who said he doesn't like the contact, he looked to me like he could take a hit. He is a very impressive running back, good luck to him.

  14. I don't think anyone is overlooking UC. They have been a powerhouse in the past and this year's squad looks good. They have looked great in their scrimmages and Coach Fishel had the Tornadoes playing with confidence. It's good to see because i know Coach Fishel is a great coach. Things are looking up in Tornado country.

  15. Smoke is on a roll. He might be hot, but that Chase for the Championship will not be easy even if he is first in points. Just look what happened to Jimmy Johnson last year. Of course, I could care less as long as Dale Junior and Jeff Gordon don't make the chase.

  16. Sorry, I meant last year's game, really don't know about passing league game. No, not cocky, just telling the facts. Camden was driving to score about 6 or 7 times and turned it over. But I will give the Rebels some credit, they could sling it. Hayes is a tremendous quarteback. As for the passing league, it really means nothing. Camden will definitely have a killer pass rush.

  17. Remember McKenzie fans, those passes weren't long ones. You guys benefitted from Camden turning the ball over about 10 times. Your qb had great field position. The score should have been Camden 70, McKEnzie - 14. Because you guys couldn't stop the Camden offense, at all. JUst an opinion.
