The tiebreaker did work this time but only because the TSSAA got involved from Nashville. Coach Bruce was interpeting the tiebreaker system worng and he was also misinformed about the number of wins that CAK and Coalfield had. Only after the TSSAA became involved did coach Bruce see his mistake and reverse his decision. And yes it was his decision. This is how it is supposed to go according to the boys in Nashville.If three teams are tied for a spot in the region or district then you go to overall record. If two teams have more overall wins than the third team then the two teams with the most wins will be the next two finaihers depending on now they did head to head. The third team with less wins is not considered even if they have beaten one of the two teams with the more wins. Chart time Team A 4-2 in region 5-2 overall Team B 4-2 in region 5-3 overall Team C 4-2 in region 4-3 overall Team C beat Team B. Team B beat Team A. Team A beat Team C to tie the region standings up completely with no tie breaker. Overall Team A and Team B have the most wins. Team B also beat Team A and that is the tie breaker. Coach Bruce was interpeting this the other way. Since team A had a better overall percentage record then he thought they should be the second seed. Then he was dropping back to the head to head record between team B and C for the third spot. Luckily for Midway Middle the TSSAA got involved and righted the wrong. Lastly for all the tiebreaker conspiracy theorists, this is how the tiebreaker works for HS also. Many people misinterpet the tiebreaker. You must consider the teams with the most wins first before you move down to the next team with less wins. even if the team with less wins has beaten a team above them in the standings.

Hey, all you football fans out their will have to admit that Midway High School has came a long way scince 1999 season. I believe that Craig Moser and Chris Shillings have developed this team into a lean mean fighting machine. Over the years I have seen him take kids who had not displayed any tallent at all and found that little nitch they happened to be good at. These guys have turned basketball players into football players. They have turned Baseball players into football players. I am suprised they haven't found a tom boy and turned her into a football player. These guys do a great job all year with these kids and I for one believe someone should recognise tallent when they see it. Give these guys a pat on the back.

I think Otoole from Midway, Brey from Midway, Myers from Midway, and Woody from Midway I believe one of these guyes should get it. I think the whole defenssive line from Midway has really done an extremely good job this year.

That is untrue. I have seen referees telling the other sides coaches things the opponent is doing that will help them, as well as referees who have some family members playing on that team, and I have seen referees from that town. I know it is hard but if you aren't impartial then you orta stop wearing the strips. I saw a game in Onieda where the referees all went by what the head ref said without question even when he could not have seen the play for love nor money, then after the game I over heard him telling the other refs that he wasn't about to have Onieda on his back anymore this year. Onieda won that game and the referees walked them into the end zone, called back several good touch downs back it was awlful. I would hate to know I had done something like that to kids.

How does a team win when they have -171 yards in penalties, well it shouldn't happen mathmatically, but it happens a lot at some small schools. Referees should call the same thing on both sides, but that rarely ever happens. I think these schools who get babied all the time are loosing, because they get babied all the time. Just remember what happens to these kids shows up on the field, when your babied you aren't really tough. When the referees walk you down the field to the 20 or 10 yard line and you still can't score, because you are playing a team that is tough that plays against the officals as well as the team they are facing every week don't be suprised you created them. You with you unfair calls your penalties for no reason. Try to remember that this will come back on you eventually.

If the CAK, and Coalfield had won games due to forfiets then why was that not listed as their record earlier in the season, you know like when it happens. What I've been told is that it was a cancelation due to the team they were going to play was not a member of TMSAA, and did not get certified. If that is the case then it should not be granted a win for them, because they should have researched and saw that this team was not a TMSAA member before they put them on the schedule. The only reason the games weren't played is because CAK and Coalfield did not want to play a team that was not part of the TMSAA and for their ignorence they rack up a win, I don't think so. I am just sick of the way some places get treated. Some schools get handled with kid gloves while others get punched in the gut by the Officials all the way around.

yes possum Midways team did play a full schedule. Coalfield and CAK did not because of a cancelled game after the season started.

OK yes everything was finally explained loooong after the fact when it was too late to do anything about it. Midways coach did call Jacksboro right after the Coalfield loss and he was told then that the teams with the highest winning percentages would be in the playoffs should a three way tie occur. He was not told the rest of the tiebreaker scenario and he was not told that the cancelled games that CAK and Coalfield had would be counted as wins for them. Thus the confusion that occured for an entire week after the last games Thursday night. What the TSSAA and especially the TMSAA needs to do is have much better communication so that everyone has a better ideal of what is happening during the course of the season. If you look on the TMSAA webpage on the TSSAA site you will see that Coalfield and CAK aren't even listed as TMSAA members. Whoever runs that part of the site and whoever is over the TMSAA needs to get their stuff in gear and get it right or they'll have another situation like this soon. Many young and impressionable kids, not just at Midway, have had their heart broken and many will have it broken again if the TMSAA doesn't fix their communication errors. And yes Midways "stud" won't forget. He and the rest of this team will have four more years to right what wrongs have been done to them. And I don't mean Coalfield or CAK. They were innocent bystanders as Mdiway was.

One of the best middle school football teams has been knocked out of playing with a better record than the third placed team Midway Middle isn't going to be able to play. Midway Middle has a 5 and 3 record while CAK has a 5 and 2 record and Coalfield Middle has a 4 and 3 record. How does having more games than the other two you are tied with hurt you when you are in a three way tie for second place. Midway beat CAK, CAK beat Coalfield and Coalfield beat Midway after Midway's running back was tossed out in the Oliver Springs game the week before the Coalfield game. If the other two teams only have seven games then our last game should not count, thus leaving us tied with CAK, who we beat head to head. I do not believe this is what should have happened. Loosing out because you have more games is not fair and the people in Jacksboro should be told this.

I am a Midway Middle School parent who is a little confused. Our Coach spoke with the people in Jacksboro who are supposed to decide on the tie breaker for the play offs last friday after we were beaten by Coalfield. He was told that since three teams may be tied for 2nd place and that all three of these teams had beaten each other it would fall to the over all record which Midway is 5 and 3, CAK is 5 and 2 and Coalfield is 4 and 3 that CAK would take 2nd place although we had beaten them in regular season, but for third place they went back to head to head which I feel is incorrect and gave Coalfield 3rd place and knocked us out of the play offs all together, which with a 5 and 3 record verses a 4 and 3 record I believe a mistake has taken place. Help!
